Might be a short thread since there's not as many of us around these days, but with the season upon us i was wondering what you guys think the team's record will be this season?

Also a chance for blang's annual muscle flex.

I see 4-5 wins, but I know that injuries change things and teams win games they're not supposed to. I'm gonna say 6-11. And that's optimistic for me, honestly.

Games below in bold are ones that I think are candidates for an "any given Sunday" win. I'm figuring one of those into my total, though couldn't tell you which. They probably split against the Lions, as they usually do, but I'm gonna stay optimistic that Detroit's head coach gets busted for cannibalism and bath salts prior to their second matchup, and that they're in even more disarray than usual.

I got 7-10, a couple games given away.

    Week 4 - vs Loins W

    Week 15 - vs Vikings - L
    Week 16 - @ Seahawks - L
    Week 17 - vs Giants - W
    Week 18 - @ Vikings - W

I have the raiders and cards as winnable games that Nagy gives away.

NYG enjoys the 14th overall pick in the draft. Pace/Nagy don't get fired. Pace gives away all of 2023's draft capital trying to fix more of his mistakes. On the plus side, bears reason Vikes fire Zimmer week 18 when they spoil playoff hopes.

  4. blang84 Legend Bears

I'm gonna go 6-11. And I hate that records now be uneven and awkward looking with the stupid 17 game schedule.

    Other predictions:
    • Nagy will be fired at the end of the season. Pace will scapegoat him for the failures of the offense, regardless of who is starting QB by then. Pace is safe until 2023 offseason at the earliest.
    • Nagy will lose the locker room at some point during the year, not necessarily due to the QB decision.
    • We will win 1-2 games we have no business winning, possibly Steelers, 49ers, Browns or Ravens.
    • Fields starts week 4.
    • We will see a TE reverse in the redzone at least once.
    • Front 7 will be decent, secondary will suck, resulting a defense ranked middle of the pack.

    8-9

Nagy gets fired. Pace is retained. Virginia is pissed. George and Ted are very disappointed but excited about the future with Fields. Blah blah blah.

  6. EvertonBears M.V.P. Bears

I want to say they go 8-9 purely on the basis that the Nagy/Pace Bears are the picture of mediocrity so they'll wind up within a game of .500 somehow someway.

But with that schedule i just can't see it. They'd have to win all the games they're "meant" to win and also a couple they're not. The Raiders totally feels like one of those games they should win but they go on the road and put in a lethargic performance, get beat and we talk about how they should've won that game. But im gonna say instead that Fields is playing by then and thru a combination of individual magic and general lack of game film on him still he gets a win there. *Note the customary Nagy losing streak in the middle.

    Week 1 - @ Rams - L
    Week 2 - vs Bungals - W
    Week 3 - @ Browns - L
    Week 4 - vs Loins - W
    Week 5 - @ Raiders W

    Week 15 - vs Vikings - W
    Week 16 - @ Seahawks - L
    Week 17 - vs Giants - W
    Week 18 - @ Vikings - W

    7-10

One interesting thing to watch for me will be whether Nagy can keep the locker room this season. I have them going into the bye at 3-6, tho it could easily be 2-7. That will be a big test. So would a 6 game losing streak thru midseason. I have the Bears winning 4 of their last 6 games to save Nagy's punk job, but that is very much contingent on him hanging on to the locker room.

With this schedule the potential for disaster is real. I'll be seriously pissed off next year if the Giants are holding a top 6-8 pick cos Pace got fleeced in another trade.

I was reading some prediction article from the "experts" and man, I don't understand some shit, which makes me think I was asleep in the offseason. The Seahawks are predicted to come in 4th in their division? I know there was Wilson "drama" but he's still there, and will be as good as usual? The Bengals are going to "make some noise" after a 4-11 season? The 49ers people are talking about like a powerhouse....because they drafted Lance? I'm taking some of that into account, but it'll matter less when the games start to play out. That's the great thing about football, pre-season/last-season/on-paper all means dick when they hit the field.

Week 1 - @ Rams - L (though winnable, as with last year where they ended up pulling wins out of their ass)
    Week 2 - vs Bungals - W
    Week 3 - @ Browns - L (who'd have thought?)
    Week 4 - vs Loins - W
    Week 5 - @ Raiders - L
    Week 6 - vs Peckers - MASSIVE L
Week 7 - @ Buccaneers - L (Unless Foles starts for some crazy reason, heh)
Week 8 - vs 49ers - W (Fields starts after the Bears go 2-5 and after two shellackings by far superior teams)
    Week 9 - @ Steelers - W
Week 10 - Bye (4-5 at the bye, Nagy/Pace get to talk about "turning things around", and this honestly will have us square in the WC race at this point)
Week 11 - vs Ravens - L (Post bye the Bears come out Nagy-lifeless, as usual, fun fact, Nagy has never won a game after the bye)
    Week 12 - @ Loins - W
    Week 13 - vs Cardinals - L
Week 14 - @ Peckers - L -> there's a good chance this is where Nagy loses the locker room
    Week 15 - vs Vikings - L
Week 16 - @ Seahawks - L -> this is where I have the patented Nagy losing streak
Week 17 - vs Giants - W (If the Giants win this, it's doubly in their best interest since they improve a draft pick either way)
    Week 18 - @ Vikings - W

7-10 apparently, though I am positive they are going to win one or two they don't deserve, and give one or more away they shouldn't. 9-8 wouldn't surprise me at all, nor would 5-12.

Looking at this, I also think if they lose to the Bengals and start 0-3, Fields will start against the Lions. I don't think 1-2 is going to be enough to get Fields in the game, unless Dalton absolutely shits the bed completely - I'm talking the Giraffe bad.

"Cocaine is a hell of a drug". I'm curious where you think the 10 wins come from? Basing it on Fields starting earlier?

I thought the little throwaway predictions were awesome so I've got most of them here.

I 100% see the Bears winning the meaningless (for us) game to spoil the Vikings WC chances. I'm surprised though you think a 7-10 season doesn't see any coaching changes. You think they fire Lazor or something? Or do you think Fields shows enough promise that they hang on to everyone?

I agree with all of this, shy of Fields starting week 4 as I said on the other thread. I do think Nagy will be gone because he will lose the locker room after the losses pile up late in the year. They were close last year I think. And that will have nothing to do with Fields.

You are the most optimistic Bears fan thus far. We need rob to come in and paint the rosiest picture I guess heh. Agree though, Pace having landed Fields will get another year, we get a "we're disappointed" speech and Nagy gets the boot after he his offense once again ranks in the bottom of the pack.

So you have Nagy being retained. One thing I didn't put on my list, but I'm curious you guys thoughts, do you think Lazor once again gets playcalling duties? That's honestly mostly what saved last season, and I find it hard to believe Nagy will have learned much, he's gotta "be him". If so, I wonder when it would happen. I'd have to say later in the season, after Fields starts as Nagy has the "put in Fields" card to play before he gives up playcalling duties again. And Fields running around might be enough to win a game or two they otherwise might not, like Steelers or 49ers.

Heh, not sure you were frequenting the Bears board back then, but we did have an entire thread devoted to everyone's favorite strains. I have not tried peyote cookies.

8-9. I see the offense/Fields start clicking at the end of the season to give us/ownership that glimmer of hope. End up having middle of the road O and D.

    Nailed the record prediction.

My other predictions were wrong save for the one about the defense. We didn't see a TE reverse this year did we?

I also ended up nailing the record, though only had 4 pegged for the right W and had one of the remaining as a possible vs Cincy. Didn't get the Raiders game. And Dan Campbell didn't get busted for any illicit drugs or cannibalism, so I was wrong there, too.
