He has some big tests coming up but this is impressive so far....

And they're gonna need him/everybody else to be, because...

Herbert I've got some genuine excitement in looking forward to starting/getting hopefully 25 touches, whatever mix of run/pass. I'm annoyed that I'm going to see Ryan Nall on the field. Can JP Holtz tag in?

Please don't do something stupid like playing a WR at RB, either. Sadly, I expect Nagy to try.

Yeah I’m good with Herbert. Would be nice to have someone that can power run. Nall blows chunks. But Herbert doesn’t waste time in hitting whatever hole he can find…and he knows how to find a cutback lane.

It means that whoever's watching the Bears games is drunk.

Basically, no matter how you look at it the Bears still suck.

In short, this metric weights yardage differently to try and give a better sense of "how well" the team is able to move the ball.

Rather than looking at "expected" points though, we can just look at actual PF and PA, since that's what actually happened. 2021 NFL Division Standings - shows the Bears are the 5th worst team in the NFC. One of the big problems in the Rams game, for instance, is that they moved the ball well on offense, we all saw that, but they didn't *actually* turn them into points, which really matters.

Stats are fantastic for cherry picking to try and make some team or player look better or worse than they are.

All the game proved yesterday was how bad the Dalton signing was.

Foles can do anything Dalton can do plus he can actually throw a deep ball.

This is why firing Pace is as important as firing Nagy.

About 20 seconds before I read this post, I read a headline "Bears expected to keep Pace" (paraphrased). So fucking stupid.

It's not so much it bothers me that they keep him, but in what capacity.
Do I want him as a GM making football decisions for the team? No
Do I want him counting urinal pucks? Hell yeah
I don't care if they keep him in some capacity like I've heard rumors too, just as long he is out of football operations completely.

Bingo, and the problems the Bears have is twofold.

    1. They like people as people, and can't objectively assess how they perform at their job. Sweaty Teddy at the forefront, Pace, etc. They're also meatball fans, so they fall in love with anything team related. That's not how you run a franchise.
    2. They fall in love with some aspect they do well. Pace is probably a decent enough scout. He hits on some draft picks. But he makes just as many BAD picks, or bad pickups/hires that overall he's *at best* a mediocre GM. Teddy runs the books well but it's *clear* he's also involved, even if tangentially, in football decisions.

So, much like last year when they should have canned *at least* Nagy, this year we can Nagy when they should be firing *at least* Pace if not ol' Teddy. We've seen this song and dance before. They will justify this with the "arrow pointing up" when we beat the Giants and then ruin the Vikings playoff chances (as patg predicted and I jumped on the bandwagon). Which means Ev will have been right and the Bears finish 3-1 for the final 4?

I don't know, I still have a hard time envisioning this team winning the next two in a row, that would be a 3 game win streak, but it would be quite a Bears thing to do.

I'm gonna have a big problem if Pace is the GM beyond this season. Like a big big problem.

He certainly can't evaluate the value of talent in regards to the draft, and he would certainly be the guy you want to play poker with.

Yeah, I haven't come to terms with this idea, yet. I was outraged at that farce of a press conference before this season, giving Nagy and Pace another chance. If we get ANOTHER one of those for Pace, I genuinely don't know how I'm going to react. I think the Bears are flirting with losing chunks of the current fanbase long-term, right now. Nevermind losing potential new fans, which is already in full effect.

Combing through the 'offseason thread' from this past year we all said the same thing about Foles and Dalton. You already have one overpaid guy now you hand out 10 mil (that you'll be paying for the next 3 'void' years) to a guy who made 3 mil, was 'meh' as a back up in Dallas before he got hit so hard he thought he was in Timbuktu and had his season ended.

Why is this the only franchise where the fans know more than people making decisions?

Yeah, it's going to make Sundays next year pretty open...
