Time table for turnaround?

I believe we are definitely in that franchise turnaround stage. We do have pieces in place in some areas. TJ, cam, najee, friermuth, Boz, DJ, and Minkah to build a future around.

Question is how long do you think it’s going to take and what needs to be done?

The turnaround has to start with the trenches to me, offense and defense. Yes this oline is young but from what I’ve seen they need to be improving and the fact that they still can’t run the ball 10 weeks in to the season tells me this line needs an overhaul. It starts with the center, sorry but the Steelers should’ve went with a true center over a transitional project, didn’t have time for that crap! The center needs to be a general and that’s what’s hurting this line, no experience. Trai is not a leader makes to many mistakes himself.

Defense, is lack of quality depth and stability you have Cam and that’s it. I think Alualu is done, not going to be the same after this injury plus he was on borrowed time. Tuitt hasn’t been reliable and is always injured to the point where he misses time. There doesn’t seem to be much promise behind them. Loudermilk seems to be a prospect but needs to grow a lot more.

 

Get a good QB and all that other positions will take care of them selves.
Ben can’t move anymore and that was his game. Aaron Rogers added to our current team and we would be running away with our division. Every season you see a shit team improve just from adding a better QB. Ben doesn’t have it anymore and you can’t judge this team until they get a QB who scares teams enough to stop them from stacking the box to stop the run.

 

Gidion, don’t get me wrong man Ben should retire after this year but he doesn’t play defense or make blocks to open holes up for the RB to run through.

Good QBs can cure a lot of ills. Wilson broke his finger and really isn’t playing up to his normal standard. Take Aaron Rogers off the Packers and they would be looking up at the Lions.

 

Yes Ben in his prime could have made up for some of the ills. You know why Rogers completes a lot of deep balls because his line gives him more than 2.2 seconds to throw it. He also has a line that can open running lanes for a really good running back so he doesn’t have to throw it all the time.

 

Gee whiz, Ravens-Steelers week is usually so much more interesting than this, I feel like I'm walking in on a funeral.

The thing about getting the right QB is that he plays a long time. Then your 1st and 2nd rounders can go somewhere else unless you're stupid, like the Packers.

If the Steelers hit the jackpot like in 2004, they don't have to worry too much. Good OL and DL guys are there. Look at Dotson.

They could be OK if they get a QB and go from there.

 

How many times do teams hit on a franchise QB? I hope it happens soon but the OL is garbage I don’t like Green as our center, every great line the Steelers have had in the past they had a true center, Webster, Dawson, Hartings, Pouncey. Green is a project that can’t anchor. I’m not really confident about any of the others either. The DL has no depth Alualu shouldn’t be starting next year at his age and with that injury, won’t be the same. I’m tired of Tuitt the guy is never available. We have no depth behind them.

 

I think that we should do what it takes to draft Kenny Picket , and sign Ben to a one year contract to mentor him. Let Picket ride the bench until year two. The salary cap goes up significantly next season and Ben won’t make much more than this season.
The salary cap will be enough for the Steelers to sign a couple of above average oline men and a decent CB to help our defense. Use the second rd pick to upgrade our interior defensive line. Draft a WR to replace Washington and we should be ready for another 20 years of excellence.

Gidi I was surprised you would take Pickett over Willis (QB Liberty).....the Steelers right now would pick 15th and either one of those QB's would be a good pick by Pittsburgh.......if the Titans win on Sunday they could Fall all the way to 10th pick.

I would love to see an Old Fashion Barn Burner of a game with the Titans winning and going to Div lead @ 10-4.
