Too many players on the street. They won’t call a game. They will deplete the practice squad and sign players who don’t know the playbook to be backups. It’s a sad state for the players that won’t get the vaccine to alleviate SOME of the risk to themselves, their teammates and organization. I know you can still get it, but it does cut down the risk significantly.

  2. gidion72 Legend Steelers

Bull Shit. The vaccine doesn’t protect you at all from catching and getting sick or dying from it. The only protection from it is from previously having the virus. People not following the proper protocols causes more problems than anything else and vaccinated people think they can’t catch it and throw caution to the wind. If the government tells you that you are safe and you believe them that is on you not the unvaccinated.

Your spot on, Lyman. I was thinking the same thing about false positives, I just didnt post it. These test are not foolproof and have time and time again proven not to be 100% effective or accurite.

I agree - there should be some symptoms or more testing to determine the actual severity or even the very existence of the virus. Id bet a kings ransom a huge number are false positives... based on just a gut feeling , your testimony and others.

Doctor Gid? Are you 100% positive?

    Case in point . . .

Back in August, 2020, there were 75 positive Covid19 test results issued in a single day against 75 test samples submitted. Every single sample was retested and came back negative. It was discovered that there were microscopic contaminants found in the lab's test equipment.

How hard would it be to send leftover sample material to a different lab (or take two samples to begin with and send them to separate labs) and retest all positive samples? Its not like were talking about a "Mom and Pop" hot dog stand that couldn't bear the additional test cost.

If ANYONE could spot bullshit, it would be you Gid. You write more on here than anyone buddy.

The vaccine DOES lower your risk of catching, getting sick AND especially dying from it. I don't know where you are getting your info, but if it says "sponsored by the re-election for Donald Trump" a the bottom... It isn't reliable, I can assure you. And I am a die hard republican who can say, he wasn't the guy I voted for. I don't blindly vote down party lines.

You are also NOT protected from getting the virus if you previously had it.. Tests show those who have had it are much less susceptible up to 6 months after contracting it, but it still doesn't keep them from getting it again.

I do agree that not following the proper protocols are what will help subside this epidemic.. That is the only thing we seem to agree on here. In no way shape or form have I said (or even had a thought) that getting vaccinated protects you and others from getting the virus. I have been vaccinated and have my booster scheduled, but I don't "throw caution to the wind" and do what ever the hell I want because of it. It merely gives me a small screen of protection, when circumstances out of my control come up.

Putting 70 spf sun screen doesn't prevent you from getting a sun burn if you put it on at 9 am and go in the ocean all day long without re-applying. But, it does offer a mode of protection that you otherwise wouldn't have to protect you from the suns rays.

If you think the vaccine doesn't protect you AT ALL, then I feel sorry for you. I will pray that you don't fall to this pandemic, I certainly don't want to see anyone go down to this virus, least of all friends on this board.

  7. gidion72 Legend Steelers

I can’t name any other vaccine where I would need a booster shot every five minutes. The vaccine is worthless. They have a lot of cities in the world where 70% or more of the Covid-19 patients are fully vaccinated. If I had a family member that dies after being vaccinated I’m going to sue the hell out of the vaccination company and the government

Sources: Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins expected to miss rest of regular season with knee sprain

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is expected to miss the rest of the regular season with a sprained knee, but the team is hopeful to get him back at some point in the postseason, leagues sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler.

Hopkins is seeking a second opinion with Dr. Neal ElAttrache. It is still uncertain whether Hopkins will need surgery.

Hopkins suffered the injury in Monday night's loss to the Los Angeles Rams and had an MRI on Tuesday. With 1:13 remaining in the game, Hopkins went up to try to catch a pass between two Rams defenders in the end zone and both defenders came down on top of his legs.

If you get a flu shot yearly, you are getting a booster. No vaccine, or booster, covers every strain of a virus alone. What it does is strengthens antibodies that were already introduced to fight the virus previously. Everyone wants to liken this to the flu, this isn't the flu, it is evolving an extremely high rate, which is why the booster shots are important. The influenza virus is also evolving, but we are talking about a virus that has been around for 8,000 years.

I hope you never have to go through that situation, but no amount of suing will ever get you over the fact that viruses evolve. What will help protect you from one strain, is less to non effective to another.

    The games will go on.

The Washington Football Team and the Browns both have 18 players on the COVID-19 reserve list. The Rams have 16.

The NFL put another 31 players — 28 on active rosters and three on practice squad rosters — on the COVID-19 reserve list Wednesday.

The message to the 32 clubs at the NFL’s winter meetings Wednesday was the season will finish on time, with no adjustments to the schedule.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was asked specifically if the league had any discussions about postponing the Browns game against the Raiders, which is scheduled for Saturday.

“There has not been any discussion about that,” Goodell said. “We feel confident that with continuing changes and adaptions through our protocols that we can do that.”

The NFL and its Players Association have agreed to a rules change for the 2021 postseason, eliminating the cap for how many times a player can be a standard elevation from the practice squad without being dropped from the roster. Other changes could be coming to try to get through the season.

“Listen, we’ve raised this the last two years: It’s a challenge,” Goodell said. “I think the things that made us successful was keeping safety first. Second, being willing to adapt at all times. We adapted several times last year. We’ve had to do that coming into this season. We work closely with the Players Association on those changes. And it’s clear even in the last couple of weeks that the changes are pretty significant and different than they were before, and I think it calls to modifications to our protocols in general, and we’re working with the Players Association on that. We obviously have some steps that we feel are necessary to take, but we’re confident we can work our way through it.”

Goodell was asked whether the league has a threshold where it would consider postponing or canceling games because of competitive implications.

“I don’t think we have something that we’ve set as a specific (number),” Goodell said. “You know one of the things we’ve really worked on is trying to give clubs flexibility. With respect to this, we have larger rosters. We have 16 practice squad players now. We’ve given our clubs with a lot more flexibility in respect of being able to move players off of that practice squad but always off the injured reserve. I think those things have allowed clubs to be able to make sure they’re maintaining the best competitive product out there. One of the things that amazes me about the season is how competitive the game is. . . . I think that’s a lot because of the flexibility and the ability for us to be able to manage pandemics, which we’ve been doing the last two seasons and doing at an incredibly high level as far as being competitive.”

Urban Meyer fired as Jaguars head coach

Urban Meyer has been fired as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars after just 13 games with the franchise.

Adam Schefter of ESPN.com was first to report the firing.

Meyer’s tenure with the Jaguars was a rocky one from start to finish with the number of off-field headlines about Meyer’s decisions and conduct far exceeding the team’s number of wins. His firing comes hours after a story came out from the Tampa Bay Times with former Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo saying Meyer kicked him in a practice in August.

Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will take over as interim head coach. Bevell served as interim head coach for the Detroit Lions last season.

“After deliberation over many weeks and a thorough analysis of the entirety of Urban’s tenure with our team, I am bitterly disappointed to arrive at the conclusion that an immediate change is imperative for everyone,” owner Shad Khan said in a statement. “I informed Urban of the change this evening. As I stated in October, regaining our trust and respect was essential. Regrettably, it did not happen.”

“Trent Baalke continues as our general manager and will work with Darrell [Bevell] to ensure that our team will be inspired and competitive while representing Jacksonville proudly over our final four games of the season.”

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence said Wednesday, prior to the Lambo story being released, that the drama around the team had to change. Meyer was the source of almost all of the drama surrounding the team this year. And now the change the team needed has happened.

I, for one, am COMPLETELY surprised. He's always show to be such a high-character individual, everywhere he goes. Never any indication that he's a genuinely horrible human being, and that going to the NFL was going to be a disaster. What a world.

Sad thing is it's more and more looking like it could become a yearly/seasonal thinking like the flu even after the pandemic is over. The Flu may have been a major pandemic to start for all we know. Now if that happens and there is ever proof China did let it leak out of a lab and it was being done for malicious purposes then fuck them and just go in guns blazing for the greater good of the future. The US army sucks at fighting largescale out of country but that's because they avoid civilian casualties. Flip the railway switch, there'll be less kills than the commies are doing to their own people and the the world going forward with them gone... but nah, that'll never happen when CHEAP OVERSEAS LABOR FTW!

Cardinals-Cowboys in Week 17 flexed to 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff

An intraconference battle between two division leaders has been flexed to the afternoon slate in Week 17.

The NFL announced Thursday that the Arizona Cardinals-Dallas Cowboys game on Jan. 2 has been moved to a 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff and will remain on FOX.

There figures to be a lot on the line when the Cards and Cowboys square off. Arizona (10-3) is currently the NFC's third seed and holds a one-game lead in the NFC West as well as over Dallas (9-4) in the conference. The Cowboys are up three games in the NFC East and sit just one game back from the top spot in the NFC.

The league also announced Week 17's matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and Indianapolis Colts will now air on FOX and still kick off at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Seahawks place Tyler Lockett, Alex Collins on COVID-19 list

The Seahawks haven’t had many players go on the COVID-19 list in the last two seasons. But now two key players could be out for the team’s matchup with the Rams on Sunday.

Seattle has placed receiver Tyler Lockett and running back Alex Collins on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced on Thursday.

If Lockett and Collins are vaccinated and tested positive, then they’ll be eligible to return with two negative tests separated by 24 hours.

Lockett is on the verge of setting a new career-high in receiving yards. He has 62 receptions for 1,023 yards with five touchdowns this season. He’s only missed one regular-season game in his seven-year career.

Collins is Seattle’s leading rusher with 411 yards on the ground this season. But Rashaad Penny took over as the Seahawks’ starter last week and rushed for 137 yards on 16 carries with a touchdown.

T.J. Hockenson had season-ending thumb surgery

Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson will have to wait until 2022 for his next catch.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Hockenson had season-ending thumb surgery on Thursday morning. Hockenson did not play last Sunday because of the injury.

Hockenson started the first 12 games of the season for the Lions. The 2019 first-round pick caught 61 passes for 583 yards and four touchdowns in those appearances.

Schefter reports that Hockenson is expected to be ready for the team’s offseason program. The Lions will also have to make a call on exercising Hockenson’s fifth-year option this offseason. It seems likely that they will go that route unless they decide to jump ahead and sign Hockenson to a longer extension.

Hahahahaha, oh, come on. There was a fair bit of abuse pointed my way when I suggested Urban wasn't the Saint some revere him as. Someone on these boards was out at the "protest" to keep him at Ohio State, if I remember correctly. I'm sure they're concerned about him now. Just making sure they're okay.
