i don’t care who is behind center. They need to win this game psychologically by running the ball and winning the line of scrimmage. I don’t care if they bring 10 guys up to the line, get 3-4 yards every ducking carry and wear them out with TWO of the best running backs in today the league. We have had a great deal of luck that they have let us stay in this game. DO WHAT EE DO BEST in the second half and run it down their fucking throat!

Precisely why Baker needs to sit. Our pass offense doesn't threaten them. They can load up against the run.

Well, I was wrong and credit where credit is due... Joe Woods and the defense came to play last night. Now, four turnovers off Lamar Jackson (who's typically pretty safe with the football) isn't going to happen again, so that clearly helped... but the Browns' defense generated four turnovers and kept the Ravens out of the endzone on 11 out of 12 possessions... and we lost the game. Someone had the stat during the third quarter where it had been over 8 years since a QB threw 4+ interceptions in a game and won (Andy Dalton did this in 2013). Lamar broke the streak. Our. Offense. Is. So. Dysfunctional. Not to be omnipotenent, but c'mon... Baker was bad but the whole unit sucked up the room. I think they were credited with 6-7 drops, two killers by DJP, two by Hooper, one by Njoku (who at least made up for it with that insane grab for the TD), one by Felton, and one by Landry (not to mention the fumble on the trick play). Mayfield is out there completely broken, throwing off his back foot nearly every time and getting zero torque because of his injuries. The double-clutch on the screen to Hunt took a walk-in touchdown off the board and ended with a fumble recovered by the Ravens. He was double-clutching on almost every pass which mean he's either not trusting what he's seeing or the game is moving too fast right now for him. It's being reported Jack Conklin has a patella tendon tear -- it was fun having him back for a handful of minutes, and his replacement was beat like a drum. Odafe Oweh is a stud -- and I was pounding the table to draft him last year -- but he feasted out there last night. Both tackles played like complete garbage so Baker had almost no time to process. We have the best running back tandem in the NFL and they mustered 36 yards on 15 attempts. Credit the Ravens becasue they're an incredible run defense team and they completely shut them down. Again, Baker needed to make some plays but outside of 2-3 tosses that were way off the mark, he was fairly on target and again was victimized by 6-7 drops in the passing game. But with the highest paid offensive line in the game and legitimately two of the best running backs you can't find a way to generate a push in the running game? C'mon... Down 16-10 on the final drive, you... First Down: Jed Wills gets destroyed and Baker has to shrug off a sack and throw it away within a flash second. Second Down: drop on a backshoulder throw to Landry Third Down: drop on a first down attempt to Hooper (who needs cut this morning) Fourth Down: throw it six yards short of the sticks and Njoku can't get the extra yardage required. Game. The Browns' last seven games: 14 17 (w/backup Case Keenum) 10 41 (fresh off the Beckham Jr. release) 7 13 10 Averaging 16 points a game isn't going to win many contests. And yet... if the Browns had managed to score just 17 points in all those games they would have gone 5-2 over the stretch (they're 3-4 instead).
I'll just assume the 2013 Andy Dalton game was against us as well...smh That's pretty much why my main concerns heading into this game were about the offense, or lack there of....Baker is not getting it done and neither are the coach's. This team doesn't know what it is. I think we can all agree that whatever it is, it's ugly. Stefanski has really crashed back to earth after his impressive debut season. The offense has mostly been a trainwreck this season, and that's in spite of leading the league in rushing. How can that even be? Normally when a team gets 4 int's and dominates the turnover margin, they win.... If a team ever needed a bye week, it's the Cleveland Browns, though I must admit it feels like I have said that many times over the years. All is not lost. Cinci looks like the best in the division and we destroyed them a couple weeks ago. There's no way B-more can feel great about the way they've played recently. Pittsburgh looked like shit yesterday. I think this division is definitely still up for grabs. Cleveland needs to regroup and get it together. Still plenty to play for, but we can't afford any more losses.
Spot on - and really hard to underscore how badly Stefanski is looking this season. The way this team has handled injuries first and foremost has been a major issue. Most obviously is the Baker situation. Prior to his injury against Houston, Bake went 81.6% completion, 10.9 yards per attempt, 267 yards per game, and a QB rating of 101.9. Since injury, he's: 58.6% completion, 7.1 yards per attempt, 209 yards per game, and a QB rating of 87.0. That is a *massive* discrepancy. Since the Bengals game, he's: 50.6% completion, 5.7 yards per attempt, 165 yards per game, and a QB rating of 65.1. He's clearly not getting better, so it's time to consider shutting him down. There's nothing to be gained from trotting him back out there week after week while he's playing on fumes and you only risk long-term harm to him and the franchise. He's still got another year on his rookie deal to prove himself in 2022 -- give him the rest of this year to recover and get him ready for a make-or-break 2022 (and truly, they can tag him after 2022 as well for another year to wait-and-see). The problem is we need to go 4-1 at a minimum (and only loss can be to Green Bay) and get some help to keep the post season alive. If that's the goal -- and it has to be -- then any coach is going to go with his premium starter than the backup. Don't love it and I wonder why we're shelling out $7 million for Keenum to handle a clipboard in that case, but that's the hard truth.
FWIW: I don't think switching QB's would have helped. Raven's had a great defensive gameplan, and Case Keenum wasn't going to rattle them. Sometimes ya just gotta give em credit. When John Harbaugh said in his post game presser that he's "never seen his defense play better", it really spoke volumes. Baltimore was in our playbook all night. Side note: Listening to Baker and Rodgers talk about their injuries this week was unsettling. What's the point? I miss the days when QB's were a little tougher.
@TopDawg, You've been mostly spot on this year regarding the Browns and their issues. But, in this case, I think you missed the mark. Rather, I think maybe Baker is too tough. It's as if his brain doesn't allow him to just step back and recognize his play is actually hurting the team. I would be willing to bet that he's telling Stefanski and the medical staff that he's good to go. Someone in the organization needs to sit him down, have a heart to heart conversation with him and explain to him that he isn't and (for the good of the team) they're going to give him time to heal. Maybe the Bye week will be all he needs. But, if he starts out the 2nd Ravens game the same way he has been since he started collecting X-rays, then he needs to be on a very short leash.
Yeah, poor choice of words, as there's no doubting Mayfield's toughness. Rodgers and his little toe though? wth? lol! Anyway, I'm holding out hope that the Browns can still factor in this season. Not looking good right now, but we have seen flashes of how good this team can be. All we can do is hope that they find the magic during the off week...
A lot of football left to play and hopefully some of the new guys continue to get healthier. I'm not sure if that is why Hunt didn't play more, but it's obvious there is a lot of walking wounded. Right now, they have 5 games left to play and are only one game out of the wild card. They have two weeks to figure out a game plan to beat the Ravens. That is a ride or die game. The Ravens aren't playing good enough to win, they are however playing good enough to not lose. They keep finding ways, despite their poor play. The Browns have two weeks to exploit that.
The W they got in Detroit was ridiculous. It's like the Ravens are accumulating W's this year simply by watching their opponents fall apart. Just unreal how they've managed.. Somehow they are the AFC's #1 seed though.
