It was the "I've seen whores in church" line... @gidion72 is questioning whether the whores are in church to meet their perspective clients.
Agree 100%... if we're talking about Kevin Stefanski's loyalty to Joe Woods. I'm not sure how any discussion about "biggest problem" can omit Woods and the defense's regression in the face of Andrew Berry investing so heavily in assets on that side of the ball. They added Greg Newsome and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah in the first two rounds of the draft and both have been major contributors with Newsome starting. In free agency, it was Troy Hill, John Johnson, Jadeveon Clowney, Malik Jackson, Malik McDowell, Anthony Walker Jr., and Takk McKinley. They returned a healthy Ronnie Harrison and Grant Delpit, who missed his rookie season, and got Greedy Williams back from injury as well (albeit sporadically). Andrew Billings came back from the Covid opt-out to bolster the defensive line ranks. AND WITH ALL THAT... we've regressed from 2020 when bums like Andrew Sendejo, B.J. Goodson, and Karl Joseph were all starters. They're averaging 24.1 PPG surrendered but were only under that in six games (against pretty poor competition). Their only stellar game (Cincinnati) was because they forced - and capitalized - on three costly turnovers. Their third down defense is especially atrocious. I was blown away to discover we weren't last in the NFL (there's four teams worse than us) but I had assumed we were settings records in futility there. Third-and-nineteen? There's a 5.4% chance the average team gets that... against the Browns it's like 72.7%. More sobering numbers? If the Browns' defense held the lead they had going into the fourth quarter, we'd be 8-2 right now. In that Patriots game, we watched guys flat out give up on plays. John Johnson and Mack Wilson were jogging on most plays. The entire secondary is making business decisions when it comes to wanting to tackle, and Denzel Ward (off his best -- and only good -- game this year) was back to his old self giving up nearly perfect target-to-catch ratios. If I have to watch the corners line up nine yards off the LOS when it's third-and-seven again, I'm going to snap. The offense has been bad, no question. But that was in two, maybe three games: Minnesota and New England. The defense has been atrocious in all but two - Cincinnati (impressive) and Chicago (not so much). Joe Woods simply must go. Whether it's after this weeks' game, after Baltimore, or during the BYE -- doesn't matter. But he cannot return to the sidelines when Baltimore comes to town after the BYE week. /rant
I believe, if he is still asymptomatic, tomorrow is 10 days and he will be eligible to be removed from the IR/COVID list Saturday morning.. unless I missed a date and he was on it earlier than reported. No one has straight come out and said he never had any symptoms though, so that could be a moot point.
Agree. The Protocols are a little fuzzy to me regarding a return to active status. They chirp on and on about needing two negative test results 24 hrs apart, but don't really say anything about having symptoms. If a player has symptoms but tests negative . . . what then?
I believe the symptoms negate the negative tests. That’s what worries me most. If he has/had symptoms, it could hurt his overall well-being for some time. I hope that isn’t the case and not just for football sake. He was vaccinated though, so that should help, even if he did have symptoms. EDIT/UPDATE: Chubb has been activated off the list and now ready to play Sunday.
This has been a strange season. It sorta feels like a race to 10 wins in the AFCN. Each team has a tough remaining schedule and it's difficult to envision any of them running away with it. The Browns can still get to 11 wins if they get on a late season roll, and the timing of this bye week should work to their favor as they've really only had to think about and prepare for 1 team (Balt) for the better part of a month. Get back to running the ball with authority and implementing some timely shots down the field. That's what this offense is about and there's no reason to think we can't get back to doing just that with a healthier Mayfield under center. There really is no other option. The offense has got to pick it up or we'll be talking draft sooner rather than later. Sad as it is, the Browns are among the league leaders in games where the team failed to eclipse 17 points. Obviously that's not going to work in today's NFL. We have seen this team be explosive on offense but the consistency, for a number of reasons, just hasn't been there at all this season. There's no more time to waste. Gotta get right. Nobody wants a meaningless Christmas day game in Lambeau....
5 phuqing Pro Bowlers and this team is 7-7 and failing to improve at all weekly. I have to say they looked like a playoff caliber team the first 4-5 weeks and then went belly up. Other than the Bengals game, they’ve been horrible…..maybe not as bad as the 1-31 years but still bad (I’m pretty sure I’m a bit jaded with last year’s success). @SAS I guess it’s time to start your official 2022 draft and free agent thread.
Free agency is going to be a grind. We have SO many spots opening up and a lot of questions about who we're bringing back in 2022.
View attachment 7090 Shouldn’t this article be about Chase McLaughlin who has missed 6 out of his last 11 kicks?
What is the deal with our punters and kickers? They haven’t placed any value on that position in years and gone out and found good ones. It’s always whatever is left off the scrap heap. And every year those positions suck and cost us at least one or two games due to their errant kicks or punts. Do they even bother evaluating these positions or is it an afterthought?
