Not to absolve Nagy of any blame, this is interesting: He definitely was holding on to the ball long it seemed, this kind of backs that up. I don't believe it counts the time to him bailing and running away from a defender however. Fixable as the game slows down for him and he learns how to throw it away.
Agreed, I'm not saying he's stupid either, but he has trouble taking that knowledge and applying it during a game. I could talk a good game when it comes to dog training too, but I don't consider myself a trainer either. I struggle with processing the variables you encounter with different breeds or different types of handlers and doing it on the fly to make it work. We talk about the game being too fast for rookie QBs all the time, the same can be said for head coaches can it not? dline said it best to paraphrase he put the KC name on his resume and now he's just cashing checks. Hell, you guys have been calling him out nearly every game since he's been here about the play calls and in-game adjustments. If the game never slows down for QBs they are considered a bust, why can't a head coach face the same scrutiny?
Matt Nagy with a impromptu press conference around noon today. either he is gonna say he’s handing over playcalling to Lazor or that Foles is starting Sunday.
Again, semantics. IMO incompetence implies what you just said, using knowledge and mis-applying/not applying it alltogether it as you mention, except with a degree of stupidity. That's why I said Matt Nagy isn't stupid, he's just ego driven for the worse. Literally, just beat me to it. The bears worked out 3-4 undrafted FA rookie QBs yesterday. Hope its playcalling. If its Foles--well--if you think the Bears' PR situation is bad now...
I can't see how Foles is starting unless Fields is hurt. Even Nagy knows Foles is a dead end. I'm guessing he will clarify that Fields is starting Sunday. As for playcalling, not sure what he'll say about that.
Just read that the presser today was requested by Chicago media instead of the regular presser tomorrow So it probably won’t feature any breaking news
I think it is critical for Fields development that he start this week. Need to wash away that suck from the Browns game. It can't be worse against the Lions. But no, Nagy's gonna let him stew in that game for a while longer.
"We don't think about protection differently between Dalton and Fields". Yeah, we know. That's the problem.
Naturally the game many of you predicted as an ideal time for Fields to start, is the time we pull him. Because of course we would. Gotta get that win against the Lions to keep our playoff hopes alive (cue: Playoffs???). Yep, because if Lazor were calling the plays they would say so. Like they did last year. No need for smoke and mirrors here. And if Lazor were calling plays, the only reason to keep it quiet would be either to take credit for his success, or pull some shady shenanigans about "see, it's not the playcalling it's execution". The square holes exist in my scheme, so all of my QBs are square pegs. If they aren't, I will force them to be. Another good QB school rundown, thanks for turning me on to this dline:
Nagy doubling down on his Nagy-ness today. Refuses to name a starter for Sunday, which likely means we have no tailored game plan for either Dalton or Fields. And he refuses to say who is calling plays because he's so damn insecure.
Fields named starter on Saturday afternoon by Nagy. Dalton still has a knee issue. Good luck vs the Lions.
The bears didn't bring in any RBs to work out after Monty went down, because they did so a week ago, working out Wendell Smallwood, Brian Hill, and Chris Thompson.
Bears send another draft pick to the dolphins for a WR and KR I’ve never head of named Jakeem Grant. I see Pace and Nagy are locked tight in an “anything you can do I can do dumber” stand-off…
HAAAAA!!!! That bellend is actually trading 2023 assets now! I swear when they finally prise Pace's barnacle ass out of Halas Hall the place will be a burning wreck. As for Grant, so far this season he has 2 catches for -7 yards. He also has 2 fumbles. So i can see the appeal...
Bears resign Artavius Pierce to PS. Brad Biggs tweets to expect he or Ryan Nall to be active Sunday. That's 1 more fumble/muffed punt than Simba, no? I checked out the Dolphins board for reactions... "I cant believe they got anything for that bum" or a close variation seems to be the response on 'finhaven.'
