So the hits keep coming for Baltimore. LT Ronnie Stanley is now set to miss a few weeks. Things are looking grim for the Ravens as Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs come to town. Very few expected the Ravens to win this game when the schedule was released and even less will expect it now. Villenueva likely moves to LT where the Ravens fanbase as a whole will pray he plays at least somewhat better than he did last week at RT. Of course I think we put Mekari and his t-rex arms at RT now. Let's all collectively pray for Lamar. I'm not going to talk much about the game. We know who the Chiefs are. We have no idea who the Ravens are in 2021. This team has to find a way to hold out until around week 7. A 4-2 record around then will be a huge win. By week 7, Stanley could be back, Boyle who was severely missed could be back, the RBs should be up to speed, Jimmy Smith should be back, and the rookie Bateman could add another weapon to the offense. If they can stabilize the o-line by then and at least make it middle of the pack level, the Ravens will open some eyes. Anyway, I'm going to predict the upset of the year because, well, I'm gonna be a homer on this. Ravens win on a Tucker 57 yard FG. LET'S GO, RAVENS!!!
Losing Stanley is an absolute killer to this makeshift line that cannot stop any good pash rushers as it is. The injury situation is dire and the lack of quality depth on the line and at linebacker is seriously telling from Monday night's game. I am not as hopeful for this Sunday night's game and I fully expect the Chiefs to score 40 plus against this defense that cannot get pressure on the QB and without the top dogs in the secondary, Hill and Kelce will rip them apart. 48 - 20 Chiefs, fall to 0-2 and move on to the next week.
I'm actually going to predict better o-line play. Not sure if it'll be slightly or greatly better, but better. First, Mekari has done a little RT work before and he simply can't be worse than Villenueva was Monday. Stanley, who is clearly still injured, was almost as bad. So maybe Villenueva moving back to the left actually improves both sides until Stanley is fully healthy
Add Chris Westry to the injury list. Torn meniscus. Someone has a Ravens voodoo doll somewhere and is having the time of their lives
With Westry down, looks like Jimmy Smith will suit up Sunday. If he's ready, I'd put him on Kelce, Marlon on Hardeman, and 3 other DBs on Hill. The remaining 6 defenders fan play the run and rush the passer
Yikes....this is degenerating to a disaster of massive proportions. I think this clealry underscores the importance of training camp reps, preseason games and practicing as a unit. I expect the O Line to round into shape but with these injuries and shuffles, it will take a lot longer than I thought. I think Roman needs to start putting tons of roll outs, waggles and sprint out passes to utilize the speed and elusiveness of Lamar to offset the pourousness of the Oline. I think off tackel runs will be hard to come by and maybe running up the middle and off guard is going to have to do for now. Perhaps screens and dump offs will get the ball in the hands of the RB's in space to allow them to create.
Ok, Ravens spot KC 7 then drive right down field to tie it up. That pick 6 will be blamed on Lamar but had Watkins not fell, it's a perfect throw. The overthrow to Brown is definitely on Lamar
Lamar need to get out of his own head. I don't blame him on the pick 6 but that INT was terrible. Even if the safety doesn't show up, that's double coverage on your 5'9 WR
2nd Lamar pick, throwing into triple coverage. This game is going about like i expected. The picks I didn't expect but playing stupidly is getting old now.
Considering two INTs, one of which was a pick 6, to only be down 4 is a huge win. That first deep pass and the second INT were terrible, but Lamar has done well outside of those (and the deep over throw to Murray)
Lamar with a jump pass for a TD. The offense is looking very good outside of those two INTs. Those have a strong chance of being the difference in the end.
Crazy TDs for boyh sides. Jump pass to wide open Brown and then on the other end the catch an run by Kelce was sick.
Odafe Oweh is going to be a very good player for us. His play just led to Patrick Mahomes' first career INT in September.......which is an insane state for a QB in his 4th season as a starter
