Not gonna lie the only thing going through my mind now is wondering how we'll manage to blow this redzone opportunity.
So, watching the replay on that Dalton INT from the first drive: it looked like he was throwing inside to Monty... who had just planted his foot to let the DB go by him, and had his outside shoulder wide open. I've seen so many plays tonight ruined by miscommunication between players. This is on coaching. Either you're not handling the practice time properly, or your offense has too much bullshit in it, Nagy. Because this constant miscommunication is not excusable.
Montgomery should be suing Nagy for how he's held his career back, these last few years. This kid is so good.
So this game is not done any means. While it feels like the Bears have gotten their ass kicked, they’ve actually moved the ball pretty well. Stupid decisions like going for it twice, the int, inexplicably not touching a guy down at the 12. And it’s only a 6 point game. Granted, it’s Nagy, king of non halftime adjustments so we’ll see how it goes in the second half.
It is pretty amazing that, despite the early game embarrassment and incompetence, the scoreboard is still closed. Montgomery can't come off the field - not only is he the best player on the offense right now, he is also forcing the Rams to defend him. The Bears' worst plays have come when they're wide open, or have other players in the backfield. Keep Monty back there, and play off of him.
Do you guys really believe them touching the guy on the TD play would result in the D coming away with a stop? It's a TD either on that play or in the next couple.
