Yeah. He also said they were his faves. It wasn't a comprehensive list of the best RBs. I'm sure it's confusing how a Browns fan would favorite some Browns players.
I thought it was obvious, but evidently not. Classic Gid...didn't even question the Chuck Foreman. lol!
We can talk RB's all day Gid...I did mention the Bus didn't I? He's one of the greatest RB's that ever played the game. I'm not giving Franco shit. Mediocre at best. Always looking to run out of bounds to avoid contact, despite the fact he was a big RB. Made one amazingly incredibly lucky play. Woohoo. I know it wasn't you, because you big Georgia fan, but one of the steeler posters schooled me a few years back about how Nick Chubb will never be as good as James Conner.... That aged well...
As Myles Garrett mentioned. It would be nice if we could see the results of a Chubb season if he got the same volume as Derrick Henry. But that's not happening due to the Kareem Hunt factor. Might not be ideal situation for the fantasy team but 100% ALL GOOD for the Browns. Every team wishes they had a tandem like that. I haven't missed a Cleveland Browns game in 4 decades and I'm as excited for this season as I ever have been.... This feels like the year that Browns fans have been waiting a long time for.
As did I, with an autograph. Greg lives in my area. I've met up with him on several occassions. Great guy. Loves to hunt in my neck of the woods... I even mentioned point blank at the end of the post that I "might" have been biased toward the end of the list. lol! c'mon now... FTR: Don't dis Greg Pruitt bro. Especially not on the Browns boards. Did you know he's the originator of the awesome "tear away" jersey's they used to wear in the 70's? Look it up. He started that at Oklahoma. It was bad ass. He was elusive as hell as it was, and that just made things unfair, which is this reason that they outlawed "tear away" jersey's forever...Pro Bowl kick returner as well...Got a ring with the Raiders in 83, as his career was winding down. Great RB. and screw Willie Parker! lol! no doubt they had the refs on their side in that SB.
I wouldn’t put Willie Parker in my top 20. I was joking, but bww had to step in and say something about it. I know that they were there for personal bias.
The mention of Earl Campbell is what started the RB chatter. Another flashback - When I was about 11 (late 70's era) , my dad took me to my first Monday Night Football game. The Browns were playing the Houston Oilers and we just happened to be staying at the same hotel as the Oilers. I noticed Bum Phillips standing in the lobby right off the bat. Pretty unmistakable character. We actually managed to get his autograph, as well as a couple others including ABC broadcasting legend, Howard Cosell. It was a neat experience. Anyway, they had this huge buffet set up, and there were two things that stuck in my memory forever. One was just how massively huge these dudes were, and what it must feel like to get hit by one of them. Realization sank in pretty quickly, that I was never going to play in this league. lol! But the thing that really stood out, is the same thing that everyone commented on throughout his career, and that is how unbelievably freakishly big Earl Campbell's thighs were. We were standing right there as they were walking through and boarding the bus to head the stadium. I've never seen another human being built like that. The thought of trying to tackle him was just inconceivable....
Lack of class typically comes with an absence of shame. Therefore an inability to be embarrassed. It’s nice.
CLEVELAND (AP) — Baker Mayfield will get a summer tune-up after all. Browns coach Kevin Stefanski surprisingly said Friday that Mayfield and some “select” Cleveland starters will play in Sunday night’s nationally televised exhibition finale against the Atlanta Falcons. Not wanting to risk injuries, Stefanski had kept his starting quarterback and the majority of his starters on the sideline for the team’s first two preseason games. “We’re just making decisions individually based on who needs to get some reps, making those decisions based on these practice reps, based on the joint practice reps, based on game reps,” Stefanski said following practice. “So we’ll hold some other guys out.” There have been a range of methods — and opinions — across the league for playing starters in preseason games. Most teams have played their first-stringers at least a little, often giving their starting QBs a series or two. Stefanski did not say how long Mayfield will be in the game or which other starters will see action with him. “We have a plan, but I want to see how it goes,” he said. Mayfield will likely be protected by Cleveland’s starting offensive line, one of the league’s best units. But Stefanski was coy about that as well. “I’m not going to go through who’s playing, who’s not,” he said. “I gave you Baker. You’ve got to tune in Sunday night. NBC wants me to keep it a secret.” Stefanski understands the risk in playing Mayfield. “It is football. We try to be smart about everything we do,” Stefanski said. “That is why I think the joint practices are so important because it is a controlled environment where our No. 1’s got close to 60 reps against their No. 1’s in a controlled environment. “It is all part of it. The way you practice and the way you play is similar, and it is all good work is the way I look at it.” Center JC Tretter was held out of team drills this week and could be one of the regulars who doesn’t play. It would also be hard to imagine Stefanski putting either star running back Nick Chubb or Kareem Hunt on the field for very long — if at all. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. took his first snaps in team drills this week as he recovers from knee surgery. The Browns have been cautious with Beckham and will likely go that direction against the Falcons. It’s possible several defensive starters could play since the unit has not had much time together this summer due to injuries. Last week, the Browns held two joint practices against the New York Giants before beating them in an exhibition game. Cleveland’s first-teamers played extensively in the heated workouts with the Giants but then watched from the sideline Sunday. NOTES: Stefanski said rookie LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah will not play Sunday. He needed stitches in his forehead to close a cut following a weight-room accident this week. ... Rookie LB Tony Fields II practiced for the first time this summer. He’s been slowed by two foot injuries since being drafted. _________ _______________________ Just thought you all would like to know, if you hadnt heard this.
