I'm hoping they update the logos. I don't care for the font The Guardians is in. The "C" with the new font on the hat is okay, though. And that winged G baseball logo is too close to the old Angels baseball logo of the 60's with the wings and halo. Don't like it.
Well Irish, it just wouldn't be me if there wasn't an instant over-reaction, now would it? I still hate it, and I think the stupid name resonates with nobody, but (as you mentioned) it is still CLE. I'm sure I'll get used to it in a couple decades. smh. IMO, the world has gone crazy... On a lighter note, I guess all my Tribe gear is now "instant classic". Cheers.
Sorry, I was away for the last 5 days and just now caught up with the comments regarding the "I'd like to get a W week one...... I think". Probably my nervousness is born of too many creative losses over so many years. That has nothing to do with the Browns of 2021. That said, nothing would make me more excited than putting up a W week one and becoming the most talked about team in the NFL. Sign me up for that!
I still find it very interesting how the Browns draw the Chiefs in KC to start the season. Both teams will be up for this one. A win for the Browns would be a fantastic way to get 2021 started... and really create a whole lotta hoopla for both teams fan-bases to talk about. On the other hand - IF the Browns lose in week 1, its not the end of the world either. I think id rather lose early and recover from that, than lose late when jockying for playoff positioning is going on. But, in a short schedule of just 17 games, every week is already, from the git-go, just like a playoff game and thats what I expect right away, a playoff type atmosphere to start the season... and in my book, thats very interesting/cool! To be the best you gotta beat the best... Im stoked for this one. Good luck Cleveland Browns fans. I'll be watching closely all season long... which by the way, cant get here soon enough.
Well Willie, the NFL attempts to make it as difficult as possible for the Browns to get a week one win. We are going on a LONG streak of opening day without a win. They didn’t want to stop that streak so they asked themselves what is the best available option to try to stop them from getting an opening season W?
Shouldn't* have come with a team who only holds the edge at the QB (for now) and TE (who desperately wants to come home) positions. Browns 35 Chiefs 24
So........does Mahomes go down (sacks not injuries)? Does our newly minted D have it together? Do OBJ & Bakes click? Does Parkey make a field goal (day 2 camp reference) How often do we have 3 safeties on the field? Inquiring minds want to know..........
Mahomes left the game in the third quarter with the score 19-10. This was after an extremely illegal hit and inexcusable missed call wiped 7 points off the board for Cleveland and put the ball in KC's possession ending in a field goal (that's a 10 point swing). This, all while fielding the worst secondary in the NFL last season against one of the best QBs in the NFL. Add in: Josh Johnson, Troy Hill, Greg Newsome, Grant Delpit, and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and we should see a vastly upgraded coverage unit. Biggest question of the season, tbh. We saw this offense come out at times and go full-throttle -- even in its first year with all the other craziness surrounding it. What we also saw was massive leads erroded (and sometimes even flipped) while Andrew Sendejo struggled to try and the defense surrendered massive chunks of yardage, points, and time. If they don't, I wouldn't expect Odell back. I vote we go for it on 4th downs. Depends on what position you consider JOK...
I know I haven't either, but I am surprised there hasn't been more talk about this... This is actually BIG! He will be paid like the 6th highest paid RB, which tells me he took a hometown discount to stay here, just like Kareem Hunt has. They are keeping money available to sign Baker to his deal, which I also hope becomes team friendly, while giving him the respect he deserves. Players need to understand, they don't have to receive the highest contract ever for their position every time they sign a new deal. Unless Baker all of a sudden throws for 5,000 yards and 35+ TDs, he should sign a deal that will help the team retain more of it's stars moving into the future. Baker needs to take notes and tell his agent to be diligent, but fair..
Another thing I'm sure both he, and Kareem, considered is that they are still being paid *very* well to split carries. Kareem was 11th in carries in 2020, Chubb came in 13th. It makes a third contract at 29 for Chubb not unrealistic since for at least the next two years he's likely to be outside of the Top 10 in carries prolonging his career.
As ridiculous as our skill positions are, I'd posit that if Baker throws for 5,000+ -- our season has gone awry. Unless Baker's Y/A takes a dramatic jump and is in line with Otto Graham (10.2)... he'd have to have a tic up of about 200 attempts next season. I'm perfectly fine with him in that 3,500 range... I'd love to see him post an Aaron Rodgers' like TD/INT line, though (48/5). And I'd still pay him like a Top 5 guy if he gets that 48 to 5.
I am perfectly fine paying him like a top 5 guy... I don't necessarily want to set a new standard at QB. That's all I am saying. These days, you don't have to be the best QB, to become the highest paid QB. It has become common place that if your hometeam doesn't pay you the largest contract ever, someone else will. ANYTHING short of that is a hometown discount in my book.
If Baker stays in the range of 3800 yards, 28 touchdowns and 10 picks, what would you be comfortable with paying him?
