They shouldn’t be a favorite but when you break down the AFC and the odds for the Steelers making the playoffs you have to be a fucking idiot to think they have no chance. I’m not saying that’s what what you meant but I read that on this site a lot and it just goes to show how easily some people suck up bad takes. Everybody knows there are questions but they didn’t luck into all of those wins before Ben gassed out. This team is still better than most.
Actually they did luck into some wins. The cowboys being depleted the ravens being depleted i think the titans were missing some key defensive players. I know its not popular but its true the Steelers were the worst 11-0 team ever.
I am by no means saying they have no chance at the playoffs. I’m just saying that if the obvious addition is Najee I’m still not putting them any higher than sixth most likely to win a Super Bowl, at best. Personally based on the last quarter of last season I think Ben is done. And until they prove doubters wrong the OL losses are a clear concern. You’re right that a lot of random takes are garbage though. Sometimes I’m shocked how psychic people think they are before a pre-season snap is even played. Not sure if you’re a hockey guy at all, but look at the Montreal Canadiens. How many guys would have actually predicted them making the finals? Pretty sure hockey writers had them “in rebuild” 6 months ago.
Very true. But Mr. Payton is not a patient man. He won't put up with 2+picks a game for very long. Two games tops!
Nor should he be. But the difference is Bruce Arians wanted to put a square peg in a round hole. Payton will create a square hole before trying to make Winston fit it. Look what he managed with Bridgewater. That’s all I’m saying. A couple of the things Winston sucks at Payton will strip from his original game plans.
Bullshit. You play what the schedule gives you and you either earn a win or you don't. Every team gets different breaks good and bad every year in every schedule. Just because Ben was coming off of an injury to his throwing arm this whole team is somehow the worst 11-0 team ever? Nonsense. A quick google search will toss up two teams that were clearly less talented across the roster than what Pittsburgh was in 2020. There's a couple more that you could maybe argue a bit more on but if you don't think the schedule cutting breaks for some of these teams didn't happen you're nuts.
All of this is reasonable but it still doesn't change the basic math in the AFC. The Steelers still have a path into the playoffs and that is my entire point. They shouldn't be Super bowl favorites. Only Kansas City and Tampa Bay should probably be talked about that way. The people saying the Browns or Ravens or Bills are favorites are going to need to show me where they suddenly got better than the Chiefs. Cleveland couldn't even beat their backup quarterback but now they're going to run the conference? Ridculous. That's the whole thing about it. This team didn't suddenly become shit in their division. Pittsburgh will be there at the end of the year with a chance to get in and anyone that thinks otherwise must not watch a lot of football.
The writers are saying Najee is going to have a great season, but the Steelers will suck, I’m saying Najee having a great season would guarantee that the Steelers would be a good team. If he is running good that would make Ben look more like 2018 Ben and our defense would be well rested. The writers can’t say Najee is going to have a good season and expect the Steelers to suck that is all I was trying to say.
Yeah Cleveland has been cursed so long I’d have to agree anyone calling them a Superbowl favorite is bordering on insane. That said, their fans have plenty of reason to feel optimistic. They’re showing signs of life and a level of talent they haven’t been able to bask in for at least a decade. Now it’s up to the players to keep their heads in the right place and the HC to prove he really is the right guy. Tall asks, but not impossible. Personally I’m more intimidated in the AFC than I am the NFC. The Buccs are beatable. You just have to be disciplined on defense and bring a little adaptability on offense. If KC is cursed it’s on Andy Reid. Guy has been close sooo many times. But succeeded only once. Their Superbowl game plan was shit last year. But perhaps he was distracted by his idiot son and the issues he caused.
There's no question the Browns have gotten better and it's awesome that the best rivalry in football shouldn't be one sided anymore. But the Super bowl talk is nuts. The only team in the division that should be in the discussion is the Ravens and they still haven't shown enough for people to call them favorites.
Put on some Steelers o-line play last year RT and you'll have a better idea. DeCastro, Pouncey and Villanueva looked like they slept the entire 2020 off-season. I honestly don't think there's a way the Steelers can't improve at those positions. And Feiler always sucked. I'm calling it now. Steelers rush for 2000+ yards in 2021.
Browns and Ravens are in a similar boat if you ask me. Show me you can do something when other teams stop the run. Show me you can get to the QB. The notion that somehow Clowney is going to become a pass rusher at this point in his career is humorous to me.
Well the Ravens should be tearing up QBs next year. They took that dude in the first round, remember? And he’s athletic as F. So his zero sacks last year in college has to equal like 1 or 2 in the pros...Championship!!.. Yeah, I’m being facetious...
Not sure if you’re a hockey guy at all, but look at the Montreal Canadiens. How many guys would have actually predicted them making the finals? Pretty sure hockey writers had them “in rebuild” 6 months ago. Not sure but he may be a Pittsburgh Penguin Fan Ruth..... Yes the Habs were in a Re-Build and picked Tyler Toffoli from the Canucks.....he proved to be a Great add on in the run for the "Cup". But.........Montreal is done........down 3-0 to the a very good Hockey Team.....Tampa should win the Stanley Cup hands down. I'm predicting the Pittsburgh Steelers will go 8-9 in 2021.....and miss the WC......Just my opinion as Baltimore and Cleveland will be the Powerhouse's this season.
One of the many reasons Ill never be hored as a head coach but last night when itwas 4th down for dallas im going for it. You kick the field goal witht hat much time left on the clock youre loosing to Brady (and honestly about 75% of the league) when all they need is a field goal. If im going to loose im going to loose my way. Go for it on 4th if you dont make it maybe you get a penalty that gets you the first anyways. Sure if you fail you loose but as I said odds are youre loosing anyways at least lose with gusto.
