The mayor of a small west Texas town has resigned after lashing out at constituents who have been paralyzed by this week's devastating cold snap. Colorado City Manager David Hoover told NBC News that Mayor Tim Boyd stepped down on Tuesday, but the administrator declined further comment. In a widely-circulated Facebook post that has outraged many, Boyd told town residents to stop complaining about the cold weather that has left millions across Texas stranded without power. "No one owes you or your family anything; nor is it the local government's responsibility to support you during trying times like this! Sink or swim, it’s your choice!" Boyd wrote in the post on his Facebook page, which was later copied on the Mitchell County Issues community forum.
He was one of those idiots in government that is so used to the government giving nothing in terms of benefits, social support and health care that he forgets what taxes are and the little they must do is.
I'm with that mayor to a certain degree. If your going to rely on government to solve you day to day problems, your going to be sorely disappointed. So don't do it. But to say government owes us nothing ? That's bull shit. And to blame the government for what's happening there. Equally bull shit. The government doesn't run the power grid. (Thank God) Electric and oil companies do. Just let them do what they do best. And stop with the finger pointing. That kind of weather just doesn't happen in Texas. Sure, you guys in the northeast and along the Canada border, that kind of weather is just another day in February. Texas isn't set up for mother nature being a bitch like that.
Majority of Texas: "Government in the problem, not the solution! Government can't tell us what to do -- it's our choice!" Mayor of Texas town: Majority of Texas: "No, not like that."
Sure, you guys in the northeast and along the Canada border, that kind of weather is just another day in February. Texas isn't set up for mother nature being a bitch like that. Ain't that the truth SCS.........Canadian Ambassador living and working in Dallas Texas has sent back video reports just how bad it is. She is from Sask and understands Winters.......homes are not built the same way in Texas as they are in the North....(Insulation) There was Icicles on the Inside of her house........and it's Day 4 of the electrical shut down. She is dealing with it but there are people dying from the loss of power and heat.
People don't understand that 50-year/100 year storms etc mean that it is sure to happen and fuck shit up. Those aren't long time sin the live of a building. Now costs are gonna be crazy because they weren't built to withstand the storm. It's shortsightedness.
PLYMOUTH – A local teen’s defense for leaving the scene of minor accident backfired on her Tuesday. The 18-year-old local was stopped by police for allegedly driving off after backing into another vehicle while leaving a parking lot on Long Pond Road just after 7 p.m. No injuries or major damage were reported. Capt. Kevin Manuel said the woman told police she did not know she had hit a vehicle because she was distracted by a YouTube video. She was cited on charges of leaving the scene of an accident after property damage and using an electronic device while driving.
Gee officer. I slammed into the back of that school bus full of children because I dropped my beer and tried to pick it up.. Brilliant !! My daughter actually did that once. Scraped a guys car while backing out of a parking space. She had no idea that she had done that. About 45 minutes later, there's a cop parked in front of my house. I guess a video camera go it. No ticket though.
