Patrick Mahomes is expected to participate in OTAs

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said in April that he felt he was ahead of schedule in his recovery from surgery to repair a toe injury and that he would “hopefully do some stuff by the end of the offseason.”

Things appear to be moving in that direction. James Palmer of NFL Media reports that Mahomes is set to participate in the organized team activities that get underway next week.

Mahomes is not expected to be a full participant in those workouts, lead up to mandatory minicamp and the end of the offseason program. He is on track to be full go for training camp, however.

Mahomes hurt his toe in the team’s playoff win over the Browns and had surgery after their Super Bowl loss to the Buccaneers.

Jameis Winston is the favorite to win the Week One starting job with the Saints

Taysom Hill makes more money than Jameis Winston. Bettors will make more money if Hill ends up starting for the Saints over Jameis Winston.

Via DraftKings, the odds for Winston serving as the Week One starting quarterback for the Saints stand at -200. For Hill, the odds are +145.

Rookie Ian Book stands as the long shot, at +3300.

Last year, Hill started when Drew Brees was injured, fulfilling a promise coach Sean Payton had made to Hill. Payton also promised to give Winston a chance to compete for the job in 2021. Winston will get it.

Whoever wins the competition, Payton has proven that he (unlike most coaches) can keep the plans quiet until whenever Payton wants the rest of the world to know what they are.

If it’s Winston, consider this. Joe Barry now runs the Green Bay defense. When he served as assistant head coach/linebackers coach with the Rams in 2019, Winston and the Buccaneers put up 55 points in L.A., with Winston throwing four touchdown passes.

The upside to this is the Saints can keep Hill on the field doing the same thing he did last year. As long as Winston doesn't throw 2 picks a game, this could work.

I gave credit to Brady because he stepped up in 2nd half and won the game.

Seahawks that was OUTRAGEOUS........they were 1st and goal with "The Beast" in the Backfield and Pete Carrol decides to throw the ball into the middle....................WOW a Forest Gump Moment..........RUN the Ball and you win the Super Bowl.

I dont know if you can say brady stepped up when it was a lot of short dink and dunk passes that brought them back. White proabbaly should have been the MVP but because the name Brady is on the back of Toms jersey he got the nod. Falcons run run run kick FG and they likely win that game but they got STUPID. its just my humble opinion which of course means little but when almost all of your superbowls could have easily gone the other way maybe youre a bit overrated (that is for Tom, Bill and the Pats).

Every Patriots SB was a one score game with Brady. But he just blew away the best team he ever played against.

If KC had a healthy Oline that statement may be true. That line was so bad you could have put pressure on Mahomes.

Too bad for them that Laurent Duvernay-Tardif opted out. They needed him. But he is an actual medical doctor and decided to help vs Covid in Quebec instead. That along with his 2020 SB win won him the co-Canadian Athlete of the Year award alongside Alphonso Davies who exploded to arguably be the best LB in soccer winning the Championship League for Bayern Munich.

Ryan Fitzpatrick can become first starting QB to lose to 31 different teams

Three starting quarterbacks in NFL history have wins over all 32 NFL teams: Drew Brees, Brett Favre and Peyton Manning. Tom Brady will join that list if his Buccaneers beat the Patriots this season. And Aaron Rodgers could join the list too if he ends up on another team, and that team beats the Packers. But no quarterback has accomplished the feat of losing to all 32 teams.

Washington quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick can come the closest this season.

Fitzpatrick has lost to 28 different teams as a starting quarterback, according to Pro Football Reference. Of the four teams he hasn’t lost to, three are on Washington’s schedule this season: The Packers, Saints and Buccaneers. If Fitzpatrick loses to those three teams, he’ll have lost to an all-time record 31 NFL teams. (The Lions are the one team Fitzpatrick hasn’t lost to and won’t play this season.)

Although no starting quarterback has lost to 31 or 32 different teams, seven have lost to 30: Drew Bledsoe, Drew Brees, Brett Favre, Matt Hasselbeck, Jon Kitna, Carson Palmer and Alex Smith. One quarterback, Kerry Collins, has lost to 29 teams. But all of those quarterbacks are retired, so they can’t reach 31 losses like Fitzpatrick.

In addition to Fitzpatrick, the other quarterbacks who have lost to 28 different teams in their careers are Derek Carr, Jay Cutler, Joe Flacco, Jeff George, Eli Manning, Warren Moon, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Ryan and Vinny Testaverde. Carr, Flacco, Roethlisberger and Ryan can still add to their totals, but none can reach 31 different teams this season like Fitzpatrick can: Ryan’s Falcons only play two of the four teams he hasn’t lost to, while Carr’s Raiders and Roethlisberger’s Steelers play one each. Flacco’s Eagles play two of the teams he hasn’t lost to, but he’s not expected to start this season, so Flacco is unlikely to add to his total.

Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford have each lost to 27 different teams, but none of them can add more than three new losses this season, so none can catch Fitzpatrick.

In a strange way, losing to all 32 teams is a more difficult accomplishment than beating all 32 teams: Quarterbacks who lose a lot of games usually get benched or cut and don’t last long enough to lose to all 32 teams. It’s hard to keep a starting job for a long time while losing a lot of games. But Fitzpatrick has been a starter for eight different franchises, and Washington will be his ninth. He’s had an unusual career, and this year he can do something unprecedented in NFL history.

Report: Quarterback Donald Hammond will work out for Packers

The Packers have signed quarterbacks Blake Bortles and Kurt Benkert the past 10 days. They are looking at yet another quarterback.

The Packers will work out former Air Force quarterback Donald Hammond III on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson reports.

Hammond is Air Force’s all-time leader in passing efficiency at 164.09, and he averaged 10.6 yards per attempt. He threw 18 touchdowns and eight interceptions, while rushing for 924 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2018-19.

An honor violation related to academics led to Hammond missing the 2020 season and ultimately separating from the academy, Brent Briggeman of gazette.com has reported.

Hammond led Air Force to an 11-2 record and No. 21 national ranking in 2019, his only season as the full-time starter.

With Aaron Rodgers in a kerfuffle with the Packers, Jordan Love is serving as the team’s top quarterback this offseason. Who knows what happens between now and the season opener, but the Packers have to prepare for the possibility that Love will be their starter this season, leaving them in need of backups behind him.

Becauss of his longevity and moving around I was a little surprised to not see his name a little higher. Then again how many teams were there when he was playing?

  14. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

    32

He was still playing (and started 7 games) in 2007. Though in 2007, he was playing for the expansion Carolina Panthers, so unless he had lost to them prior, he wouldn’t be able to add them to the list that year.

Jags and Panthers were added in 1995, so he played the majority of his career with 32 teams.

No Aaron Rodgers at Packers OTAs

There was not much reason to believe quarterback Aaron Rodgers would be at the start of Packers organized team activities on Monday, so there wasn’t any reason for surprise when players reported for work in Green Bay.

Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com passed along word that Rodgers was not among the players who reported for the start of Phase Three of the offseason program. Participation in the OTAs is voluntary.

Rodgers has a $500,000 workout bonus in his contract, but his absence on Monday suggests he’s fine foregoing it while he remains at an impasse with the team about his future. The Packers have responded to reports that Rodgers wants to be traded by saying that they won’t move him and want him to remain with the team, but Rodgers has thus far remained quiet about the situation.

That could change on Monday. Rodgers is slated to be a guest on Kenny Mayne’s final appearance on ESPN Monday night and that may shed some light on where things will go from here in Green Bay.

Joe Burrow on the field, throwing at Bengals’ first OTA

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has said he expects to be ready to go before the start of the season after tearing his ACL on November 22. The indication today is that he’s well on his way.

The Bengals opened their Organized Team Activities today, and Burrow was on the practice field, wearing a helmet and throwing passes, while also wearing a large brace on his surgically repaired left knee.

In videos from practice, Burrow did not appear to have any trouble dropping back, planting his feet and stepping into his throws.

Now more than six months beyond his injury, Burrow still has rehab work to do, but there’s every indication that he’ll be on the field when the Bengals open the season against the Vikings on September 12.

Why is there a difference this season/year when things are looking better as far as the pandemic? Wouldnt it be safer for players to work-out at team facilities instead of on their own outside the establishments?

Im asking because I dont understand why some players are at OTA's and a bunch arnt. Im ignorant on this subject and could use some clarification.
