Looking Forward to the 2021 AFC North

I agree gid, but I read somewhere that the most watched time slot is the Sunday afternoon (4:30) game, so I'm not too surprised they put CLE/KC in that one.

It's perfect for the Browns. This is the team that we've been stewing about all year. REVENGE GAME!

 

I don’t like when you miss good games because of local teams are the only game on at the time slot on Sunday afternoon. Seattle at the Colts might allow for the Steelers game to be on. I believe it is when the local teams are home they don’t show another game and when they are on the road they can. Stupid rules just to help the local team get better local ratings. Why does it matter? If you’re watching the NFL the league is making money.

 

They want you to buy the Sunday Ticket....

I don't need to buy it anymore. I live in Browns TV area, and I'm not worried about them replacing Cleveland game with a Bengals game anymore.

 

Life back in the day was so much simpler.

I grew up in a town that was halfway between Cleveland and Toledo. The (now) NFC teams were always broadcast on one national network (CBS) and the AFC teams were always broadcast on a different network (ABC). As a result, the Toledo stations always aired the Lions games on one station and the Browns games on a different station. Even on the rare occasion that the Browns game was blacked out on the Cleveland station, all we had to do was crank up the antenna rotor and point it towards Toledo (which was outside of the Cleveland blackout area).

There were only two time slots for games. 1:00 and 4:00. Period. Then ABC launched Monday Night Football, FOX entered the broadcast rights fray and NBC found themselves on the outside looking in. So they (NBC) negotiated the rights for Thursday and Sunday night games. Four networks all trying to broadcast games from two NFL conferences.

Now, add in cable TV in the 1970's, Satellite providers in the 1990's, the NFL Network in the 2000's and then Internet streaming and it's no wonder things get confusing.

 

Schedule leak: It's being reported that Cleveland will play at Green Bay on Christmas Day....That should be fun!

Denver will be coming to Cleveland in week 7 (Oct. 21 Thurs Night).....

Cleveland will be at New England in week 10 (Nov. 14)

 

Week One is a tall task, and I love it. Stephanski won't have to worry about focus, as the season begins.

 

I remember it well, post 1977. I lived in the sweet spot for any Ohio NFL fan in the 80's...All the AFC games were on NBC in those days, and our cable actually had two NBC stations. WCMH out of Columbus and WHIZ out of Zanesville. It was perfect....Browns were almost always on Columbus affiliate, but whenever they weren't, it was guaranteed that Z-ville would pick them up...We never missed a Browns game.

The last time we opened a season against the Chiefs, I got to witness this fiasco live;

 

I was at that game as well !! Made for a long drive home.

 

A very long and angry drive home....or maybe "bewildered" is the better word. What was worse in my situation is that the reason I was there in the first place is a friend of mine bought 4 tickets to that one, because he's a huge Chiefs fan. Fun times.

 

Never want to place too much emphasis on the 1st game of any season, but.........

Can we win one at least once a decade?

Losing to the Chefs wouldn't be unexpected, but a W?????
Now that's going to have tongues wagging.

In general we have to make the most of the early season, cause it gets pretty contentious in the back half. All of our divisional games come after week 8, and sorry, but none of that is going to be the 2020 Giants or WFT.

Gotta build some cushion, so an unexpected loss doesn't derail the drive to the division title for the first time since Noah landed.

 

Week 1 vs Chefs features one team with a revamped O line, vs another team with a revamped D.

I'm sure both will improve as the season unfolds. The question is who's ready week 1.

Serious question: how many possesions can we hope to stop the Chefs from scoring? 3? More? None?

 

You guys realize 60% of last years o-line is gone right? Feiler, Villanueva and Pouncey played really poorly. And they didn't have a blocking TE.

I've watched the Steelers for a long time and when they want to fix a problem they get it done. They will run the football much better this year.

Now this I like. I have two questions though:

1. What criteria are they using to remove pass attempts? It's showing Lamar at 398 total attempts and Baker at 500 even which doesn't match any of their seasons, even with playoffs included. The total TDs and INTs lead me to believe this is for 2020 since those match when you include playoffs. But then, including playoffs, I have Lamar at 424 attempts and Baker at 557.

2. Since this looks to be 2020 only, do you mind post the career numbers? If you do mind, then no problem. My argument has consistently been that Lamar has been a better passer over the course of their careers so far so I'd love to see if the PFF analysis confirms that. If Lamar doesn't have the overall better career numbers, I'll glad post that I was wrong on this thread.

 

Impossible. I've been told, repeatedly, that Pouncey was the game's best center.

No real surprises here... don't know too many folks even in the greater Baltimore area that are going to say Lamar is a better QB than Baker. Deep passing for Bake also backs up the NextGen numbers showing him as the premier deep passer in the League. Astounding he's done that without a deep threat (minus about eight games in 2018 with Breshard Perriman). Hopefully, Anthony Schwartz can develop in that homerun threat for him.
