2022 Mock Draft 1.0 | Super-Early Sneak Peek 1.1 Houston Texans: Spencer Rattler, QB Oklahoma. I want to say... duh? 1.2 New York Jets: Kayvon Thibodeaux, ED Louisiana State. Head Coach Robert Saleh could already be looking to move on from 2021 pick Zach Wilson, but sticks to his "early first round picks on DL" roots and nabs the projected top pass rusher in the class. 1.3 Denver Broncos: Malik Willis, QB Liberty. Unless they trade for Aaron Rodgers after June 1, this team is going nowhere. 1.4 Jacksonville Jaguars: Evan Neal, OT Alabama. Watching the slight Trevor Lawrence run around for his life has to have ownership concerned. Get him a blindside protector. 1.5 Pittsburgh Steelers: Sam Howell, QB North Carolina. Watching Ben try through the first half of the season and get benched for white supremist Mason "Dixon-Line" Rudolph should be enough to convince the brass they need new blood here. 1.6 Las Vegas Raiders: DeMarvin Leal, DI Texas A&M. Had to find a two-round mock draft for this one and pick someone late in the second for Mike Mayock (if he makes it through the year) to desperately reach on, true to form. ... 1.12 Cincinnati Bengals: Rasheed Walker, OT Penn State. Maybe now they wise up and take the offensive tackle? ... 1.15 Baltimore Ravens: Isaiah Spiller, RB Texas A&M. Between J.K. Dobbins, Lamar Jackson, and now Spiller - a team can never have enough talented running backs. ... 1.28 Chicago Bears: Chris Olave, WR Ohio State. Bears make a move to add 2021 Offensive Rookie of the Year a weapon on the perimeter and take some pressure off him after a super-human rookie season. ... 1.32 Cleveland Browns: Garrett Wilson, WR Ohio State. Garrett Wilson... no matter what.
I'm not so sure. They are built to win, with that one missing piece. That piece DEFINITELY wasn't Drew Lock.. But they might have a chance to win more games with Teddy. They won 5 games with Lock, about half of their losses were by a TD or less. Teddy might get them to 7 wins.
They did sign Riley Reiff to take over the right side. The other side, they have their 2019 first round OT... so, they might not need him that bad. This year they spent their second rounder on a guard to fill some holes.
^^^^ FWIW... Andrew Berry came out and said it wasn't a concern for the Browns, which basically confirms what we saw. They valued perimeter cornerback over linebacker and made the move for Newsome at #26. Didn't expect the heart issue to scare off so many teams to the point they only had to move up a few spots to get him at #52.
With the exception of Pittsburgh (bleep them Steelers) taking a QB and Lamar Jackson being a running back, I was mostly speaking tongue-in-cheek with this picks. BUT... I do disagree with the mainstream thinking that Denver is a good team who's missing a quarterback. Their defense was bad, especially against the run. Their skill position players are adequate, but not special. Their offensive coordinator is Pat Shurmur. Their defensive coordinator picked up in 2020 right where he left off in Atlanta -- absymal. Drew Lock is/was bad and cost them some games, sure... but Teddy Bridgewater sucked out loud in Carolina last year with decent skill players around him. Sure, not having McCaffrey was a big blow, but 4-11 as a starter with an average defense (and only throwing for 15 touchdowns) doesn't translate to me to a big uptick in wins for Denver. I see them as a 4-5 win ceiling team with their current QB roster. Again, that all goes out the window if they can swing a blockbuster for Rodgers (who would elevate them to 11+ for sure) but that seems unlikely.
didn't they have injury issues last year on defense? They seem pretty stacked to me. the offense has a lot of talent, missing the QB.. Also the QB helps the defense stay off the field. Just saying. If you look at that roster, not their defensive rankings in 2020, it is missing a QB. Otherwise it is very solid. They were already a 5 win team with Drew Lock at QB and injuries last year. Broncos injuries: View the 11 players on injured reserve OLB Von Miller ($25,625,000) ... CB A.J. Bouye ($13,437,500) ... DL Jurrell Casey ($11,787,500) ... OT Elijah Wilkinson ($3,259,000) ... LB Mark Barron ($2,453,125) ... WR Courtland Sutton ($1,865,981) ... DL DeMarcus Walker ($1,614,408) ... DL Dre'Mont Jones ($952,000) Get these guys back, add Patrick Surtain, swap Javonte Williams in for Philip Lindsay, still have Gordon also for the two headed backfield... I will be surprised, even with Teddy Bridgewater, that they don't improve to at least 7 wins.
Do they have a chance to win more with Bridgewater? I don't see how he even starts over Lock. Did you watch him play last year? Sean Payton made this guy a lot of money. Unreal how much Teddy B raked out of Carolina...He's a combination of Tyrod Taylor and Cody Kessler, and every bit as exciting to watch...
I know I'd take him over Bridgewater any day of the week.. At least he can move and occasionally throw the ball beyond the LOS.... I give TB credit for timing and incredible luck when desperate teams were trying to find QB's....Other than Bobby Bo, Teddy'B's (Carolina) contract stands out to me as one of the craziest ever. Those five wins under Payton, while he was filling in on a SB roster, paid off big time!!! Good for him...
I don’t disagree, Teddy was never the same after his injury, but I can’t say I would take Lock over many QBs.
Watching Tony Fields play, the first guy I think of as a comparison is Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoa. I'd be shocked if these guys aren't battling for the same position in our defense. The new breed of defender is here, and Joe Woods can get creative with these ultra fast do-it-all playmakers. It's going to be fun to watch. I hope either Fields or Schwartz keeps the #1. That'll look sweet.
Yeah, I like they changed the # rule. I just hope not too many veterans change their numbers. I hope the new generation of players coming in are the ones adapting them. JOK can keep his #6 alive.
That's not happening. lol! Fun Fact: Bake used to wear #11 before he went to Oklahoma and they issued him the #6... I think it's safe to say that will be his number from here out.
