His stock was tough to get a feel for but it wasn't until right before the draft started that I balked and considered taking him out of the first.

Yes and it more or less is my final mock. I didn't write the teams in because of trades.

As most expected he went very late 1st-early 2nd. One of very few things most agreed on.

Or apparently not for Tim. Felt like 20 was the absolute earliest for him and probably a bit later. Haven't seen many thing past the first ten or so picks of the 2nd.

No, that would basically be the range he was in.

To be specific - I couldn't get a read on whether or not I was right with having him locked into that stretch of the first. I think I mocked him to PIT twice and BAL once, but I believe he was in the first round for all five mocks.

    EDIT:
I had him in the first round of 4 out of 5, with the only one he wasn't in being the one where I took suggestions from different people to lay it out.

I had him to PIT, BAL and TEN, so that was the range I felt comfortable with him in.

TopDawg's Round 1 Snap Review (with grades)

    1) Jacksonville Jaguars – Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson
A No drama on this. Looks every bit the part of a franchise QB. I'm not sold that his HoF enshrinement is a foregone conclusion, but he does look the part. Hair is fabulous.
    2) New York Jets – Zach Wilson, QB, BYU
B In all honesty, I like the player. Watching him actually reminds me of Mayfield. He's a wildcard, though I think he'll have his hands more than full with the J-E-T-S.
    3) San Francisco 49ers (from HOU through MIA) – Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State
B It really looks like a great fit. I don't have much to say on this one other than I'm surprised he was picked over Fields. I didn't study the player much, but he could be special. Lance definitley has traits that I love to see in a QB. If he keeps his head in it, he'll put a lot of pressure on the defense
    4) Atlanta Falcons – Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida
A Great pick. I expected the Falcons to trade out, but they stood firm and took the best player on the board. Gotta respect that.
    5) Cincinnati Bengals – Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU
F....I hate this move. Who cares about the college connection? What about protecting the franchise QB??? The Bengals still reap the benefits of taking perhaps the ALL-TIME greatest LT ever. I don't get it at all. They had the golden ticket and burned it.
    6) Miami Dolphins (from PHI) – Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama
A- Aggressive moves by the Dolphins and they got the #1 WR on their board. I like it.
    7) Detroit Lions – Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon
    A :bravo: loved it
    8) Carolina Panthers – Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina
A One of my favorite players in this draft. I was dream weaving in thinking he could get into range for Cleveland. My little piece of paper with one name went to Carolina. Great pick.
    9) Denver Broncos – Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama
B- Nice pick, but I thought this team would be in the QB hunt for sure.
    10) Philadelphia Eagles (from DAL) – DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama
B+ Slim Reaper seemed destined for Philly from the get....
    11) Chicago Bears (from NYG) – Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
A+ I love the boldness of this franchise. Never mind the Trubisky plan. They went and got their new QB. Love it! Chicago has never had a QB like this. I bet all Bears fans had a boner last night.
    12) Dallas Cowboys (from PHI through SF, MIA) – Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State
C Hazing shmazing...Could be a weirdo, I'm glad Dallas took him.
    13) Los Angeles:bravo: Chargers – Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern
A+ Amazing pick here. Herbert protected. (this is how you are supposed to do it Cincinnati)
    14) New York Jets (from MIN) – Alijah Vera-Tucker, OL, USC
C- Trading up for a Guard doesn't excite me. Even if it's the best Guard, that's still trading into the top 15 for a Guard. Not my favorite move of the night.
    15) New England Patriots – Mac Jones, QB, Alabama
    A Unbelievable. Only the Pats
    16) Arizona Cardinals – Zaven Collins, LB, Tulsa
B Love the player. He was high on my list for CLE. Kinda surprised ARI didn't go CB here, but I like it.
    17) Las Vegas Raiders – Alex Leatherwood, OT, Alabama
C- The Raiders are very unpredictable. I like Leatherwood, but this pick really surprised me based on what I think of their roster, and I'll leave it at that.
    18) Miami Dolphins – Jaelan Phillips, DE, Miami
B - Doesn't even have to change apartments! Nice pick here for Miami taking the homer
    19) Washington Football Team – Jamin Davis, LB, Kentucky
A Many of us had this guy as a 2nd rd riser in the DVC....cha ching! Freak of an athlete. What the hell is Washington building with that defense?? SCARY.
    20) New York Giants (from CHI) – Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida
A- Daniel Jones needs a playmaker. I like this a lot.
    21) Indianapolis Colts – Kwity Paye, DE, Michigan
A+ Another guy I thought maybe my team would make a play for. I don't like the thought of him joining an already stout Colts defense.
    22) Tennessee Titans – Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech
B+ In so many mocks I had them taking Newsome. I didn't think Farley would get past 20. It's a rist that will likely pay off big time for the Titans.
    23) Minnesota Vikings (from NYJ through SEA) – Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech
A Great maneuvering by the Vikings. Spielman still on top of his game.
    24) Pittsburgh Steelers – Najee Harris, RB, Alabama
C Maybe the most predictable pick of this entire draft, and the league just let it happen....Though I think OL should have been addressed here.
    25) Jacksonville Jaguars (from LAR) – Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson
C- I don't like the move, simply because Jacksonville has a lot of holes and RB wasn't one of them....But I get Urban trying to find comfort zone for "the franchise", so this might work out nicely.
    26) Cleveland Browns – Greg Newsome II, CB, Northwestern
A Didn't think he'd get to Cleveland, but they showed major interest in this kid throughout. Some Browns fans and I listed 5 "realistic possibilities" that we'd like to see for the Browns, and Newsome was #2 or #3 on my list. We got value and hit a need. What more can ya ask for?
    27) Baltimore Ravens – Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota
C Meh. I thought better options available.
    28) New Orleans Saints – Payton Turner, DE, Houston
B+ Bold move. I like it, though there is another similar player still available that I like better.
    29) Green Bay Packers – Eric Stokes, CB, Georgia
D I don't understand what this team is doing, other than pissing off the reigning MVP.
    30) Buffalo Bills – Gregory Rousseau, DE, Miami
B+ It fits a need, and I like the player a lot.
    31) Baltimore Ravens (from KC) – Jayson Oweh, DE, Penn State
    C
Meh. lol! Ravens two first rounders didn't blow my doors off, sorry.
    32) Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Joe Tryon, LB, Washington
A- A lot of options here on the final pick of round one, and I like who the Bucs came away with.

I really did hate the Bengals move....Steelers did fine....Considering Ravens had two picks, they were blah IMO.

I had Bateman as the second best WR in this draft. He’s not flashy by any means but he’s an Allen Robinson clone. He also gives the Ravens a legit #1

I can dig it, and thanks for sharing your opinions!

I'll give you my nickels worth of rebuttal, just because it will give us something to talk about down the road...

The Bengals may make that same point rather irrelevant at the top of the second. There's a nice group of OL available and they are getting Jonah Williams back along with a newly signed Riley Reiff. They needed to get at least one more set of hands and either Chase or Pitts would have fit the bill. I expect them to go back to the well at either TE or WR before this thing is all wrapped up. They currently have Boyd, Higgins and Uzomah as their primary weapons in the passing attack. Both Higgins and Boyd are really nice players to have in an offense, but neither are a true #1 wideout. C.J.'s production is simply a byproduct of being the best available at that position.

Both Bateman and Oweh are really solid prospects but Bateman probably landed in the worst spot of any of the first round receivers. The Ravens simply cannot develop true primary weapons in the passing game. Oweh, on the other hand, couldn't have landed in a better spot to get brought up in. Baltimore excels at developing EDGE players and Jayson has the skill set to be a dominant player at the position.

Najee has the chance to be a high quality back and the Steelers are going to be transitioning into Matt Canada's offense and out of the Ben Roethlisberger era starting in 2022. I agree that getting help on the OL was probably the larger concern, but getting a premier back and then following it up with a high level prospect on the line could be just as good of a combination.

I just had a gut feeling they'd get a QB... one who could sit a year and then be ready to rock. I was thinking Fields, but Mac is no slouch either. Mac seems like a perfect fit for Belichick and company... Mac is the 'old fashioned' type pocket passer and that bodes well for the Patriots offense imo.
Simply put... a very smart move. Gutsy too.
lol... I like this pick. A very dangerous weapon to compliment the offense. Still some OL on the board that will be a benefit.

Obviously I have major bias...lol! When has that ever been in doubt?

In all seriousness, I liked the Steelers move. Ravens did just fine, but they happened to take two guys I'm lower on than most, and that's the truth.

Bengals messed up bad IMO....We'll see how it plays out.

I respectfully disagree...They aren't getting anyone anywhere near the caliber of Sewell in Rd 2...They might get a nice name to slap down on a piece of paper, but they passed on a generational LT prospect, when they desperately needed to fill that position. It was set up perfect for them, but they wanna go for the dessert before they have dinner...Fine by me. Garrett almost killed Burrough last year. We'll see what happens.

He doesn't have to be the same level as Sewell to make a positive impact for the end of the offensive line.

Jenkins, Cosmi, Eichenberg and Mayfield are all names to watch at the top of the second that are going to have a chance to be long term starters as bookends for an offensive line.

This class is pretty damn deep with cinder blocks.

Ok, what do you guys have for the first five picks of the second round?

    Round 2

    33) Jacksonville Jaguars
    34) New York Jets
    35) Atlanta Falcons
    36) Miami Dolphins
    37) Philadelphia Eagles

I don't know if I'd call Sewell generational. Solid group of Tier 1/2/3 OTs this draft but I am not buying generational. Getting Burrow his WR who is a stud is a great way to build the organization. Now they need help to give them time to connect.
