    I can't disagree with that...

Evaluate through 2020, report your needs... Seems like mission accomplished on Berry's part for filling those needs. Time to earn your money.

I still think they need to re-sign Sheldon Richardson. That was one reason I was a little surprised Barmore was passed on... Either they really like Newsome, or not as high on Barmore.

The last of my first round grade guys:

    Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah
    Christian Barmore
    Terrace Marshall Jr.
    Trevon Moehrig
    Teven Jenkins
    Asante Samuel Jr.
    Javonte Williams

I expect these guys to be gone in the first 15 picks of the second round.

Then there is another cluster of about 20 players in the next tier.

What I find intriguing is that we are all fans of the same team, watch the same games and follow each and every move by the front office and yet come up with very divergent opinions on how or what (or who) is needed to improve on an otherwise successful season.

Last year we were (almost to a man) convinced that LB was positionally the weakest group on the team (safety was a close second). That collective opinion was eventually validated through the course of the season as the Browns ended up in the bottom half of the league in rush defense and tight ends routinely ate our lunch over the middle at will. Then, this past off season, we allowed one of our starting DT's to walk via free agency and jettisoned the other one (presumably) for salary cap reasons. In the same off season, we added a slot CB, a starting Safety.and a DE (who's strength is against the run).

IMHO, we would have been better served (as a team), to pick the best DT in the draft (there were none drafted in the 1st round). That is not to say that Greg Newsome is a schmuck (he isn't) but there were three CB's already off the board at #26 and every stud DT was still available.

Hitting this both since there's overlap...

My take: the front office wants to see what they have in Jordan Elliott, so they plan to get him more reps. They also get Andrew Billings back from the opt out list and they signed Malik Jackson in free agency. None of these guys would appear to be world-beaters, but at the end of the day they need some guys to eat up space, help out in the running game, and press the pocket once in a while. We also have the uniqueness of Jadeveon Clowney who has, and should, move inside on a lot of passing downs. Looking at the bodies in the middle here, it would seem -- again, to me -- that we have a greater need at end where Takkarist McKinley is a bit of a risk and the only other backup is Porter Gustin. Both Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney have missed time in their careers with injury (or suspension).

There also appear to be some very solid interior defenders available in the R2-R3 range and Barmore's extremely hot/cold output likely soured some teams (including ours, presumably).

I'm a big fan of Alim McNeil, Milton Williams, and Daviyon Nixon in the middle. There's also Tommy Togiai, Marlon Tuipulotu, and a few others who could be in play.

I'm not sure what to expect from Berry this evening, and that's a good thing....The transparent Browns no longer exist.

I know! Don't mean to pee in any Cheerios here. Just gotta see the results first I suppose.

Man, thinking about the WRs, running QB and RBs in this division, it makes me want Owusu-Koramoah even more. He could shadow Jackson when we play them. They could move in and out of nickel without even changing personnel. I really think we are missing out on this one. I love having the depth/possible upgrade at CB, but man, that would give them so many options when scheming.

Not a single name on that list MUST step in day one and start. That’s the amazing feeling I get for the first time, possibly ever, as a Browns fan.

Despite that, there is so much talent added this weekend that through competition there may be some on that list that end up starting anyway!! The depth this team has is unprecedented in Cleveland.

Depth is essential to winning championships and countering injuries, which are inevitable. Browns on paper are sitting pretty... I like their draft also and its even compounded (pun alert) by already having a solid starting core.

    Now, bring on September!

I admit I've been a bit preoccupied this year and didn't follow the draft proceedings like I have in previous years. I did watch Round 1 in it's entirety but only parts of Friday night and none on Saturday.

Who was the asshole behind the commentators with the "Free Josh Gordon" sign ???

Looking back . . . it appears they addressed the areas of our collective concerns -and- put some much needed depth behind the starters. I can assume that the 7th round RB they drafted (Felton) is destined for punt or kickoff returns ???
