Cincinnati Bengals 1.5 Penei Sewell - OT - Oregon 2.6 Landon Dickerson - C - Alabama 3.5 Tommy Tremble - TE - Notre Dame 4.6 Cade Johnson - WR - SDSU 5.5 Shemar Jean-Charles - CB - Appalachian State 6.6 Nick Niemann - LB - Iowa 6.18 Adetokunbo Ogundeji - DL - Notre Dame 7.5 Darrick Forrest - S - Cincinnati Thus concludes the Bengals 2021 Draft. Some Protection, some weapons, and then some back end defense who could hold a surprise or two.
I like it. Forrest is an interesting late find. I don’t think I ever got around to watching him. Those first 3 should go a Looonngg way to protecting Joe Burrow. Well done!
I texted Joe once. He's been having a rough stretch though so unless we see Munoz around I'll give him another 20 minutes before I started harassing with texts.
San Francisco 49ers 1.3 Justin Fields / QB / Ohio State 2.27 Richie Grant / S / UCF 4.5 Kary Vincent Jr / CB / LSU 4.12 Hunter Long / TE / Boston College 5.11 Robert Hainsey / T / Notre Dame 5.25 Cornell Powell / WR / Clemson 5.28 D'Ante Smith / T/G / East Carolina 5.36 Thomas Graham Jr / CB / Oregon 7.2 Chauncey Golston / DE / Iowa Of the four teams I played at least an assistant GM role with, I probably flew by the seat of my pants the most with the Niners. I knew I needed to make a good decision at 3, nabbing our QB of the future (and likely present). Fields is basically your prototype passer, but with enough athleticism to design a run or two for him per game. He's not slow. He's advanced for a rookie making progressions and has shown some very accurate downfield passing. Opted for him because I think their eye for the Superbowl starts immediately, and not 1-2 years down the road. For that reason I easily take Fields over Lance. And based on all your upper level markers you look for in QBs, he also lands ahead of Mac Jones without too much thought. After that my two biggest needs for them were youth and competition on the back end on defense, and I really wanted another option in the passing game. TE depth kind of fits with that goal as well. But they're a creative run team, so a decent blocker fit the bill. Third priority was to keep my eyes open in a deep group for some OL depth with some upside for future starter potential. I like how it all came together overall. Would have preferred Tommy Tremble or Brevin Jordan at TE instead of Long due to being better athletes, but with only one pick to make that decision those two felt like at least a minor reach, whereas S Grant felt like a value. I stand by that decision. I really like the value I found with the last five picks. I doubt Golston reaches the 7th. And I genuinely believe down the line that both Hainsey and D'Ante Smith can be starters. Slightly different athletic makeups, but both have strengths that can be molded into decent starters in this league. I like Powell quite a bit too, especially at a late 5th round value.
I need a moment because I can't for the life of me remember who I had decided for this Saints pick last night.
@Willie once I pick I also have the Broncos' list and thankfully their 2nd choice got taken because I don't know if they'd want to double dip on safety again.
I’ll have my pick in after I get off of work if I’m up at this point (5 picks I think). So maybe around noon...I hope.
lol, Thats actually a great name for a Viking, but he went to TB. I believe there was a Loudermilk back in the day when I was a kid... Im going to look that up.
Kirk Lowdermilk was a Colt and a Viking back in the day... I knew I heard of him, but the spelling is different.
