Simply because I held things up a bit. Re-watched some tape on my top 4 options there. If TE is a need, Long is widely considered the obvious #4 in this group. And I couldn't really argue with that even if he doesn't necessarily fit the athletic profile the Niners would prefer.

For context, the real team has interviewed Brevin Jordan and Tommy Tremble. No one else to my knowledge. Tremble absolutely belongs in that division anyways. And that reminds me that Tremble is the one guy who might have something to say about Hunter Long's consensus #4 TE ranking in this class. Tremble is sort of the hot name since the pre-draft season began.

The difference in athleticism is what's creating that discussion. On production, it's no contest, Long's the guy. But projecting their futures muddy's it up a bit.

 

There was some economics of the draft article that came out recently. Turns out sort of broadly across all position groups the first player taken at a position is 52% likely to start more games than the second player in a position group. So it's basically a coin flip. Even player 3 or 4 are better than a 60/40 split to start more games over their career.

The NFL is really bad at identifying who will be a great NFL football player. I seriously wonder sometimes if the NFL is actually better at determining who is a good player than a consensus draft board is...

 

Might be my favorite OSU guy this year. It's definitely a trenches year, because my two favorite prospects from there are Myers and Togiai.
Honorable mention to Browning. Probably still pulls up 3rd on true BPA for me.
