IK Multimedia has a free version of Amplitube that you can try out. I don't like their "custom shop" approach, but I do like Amplitube and at least the custom shop thing lets you try out a few bits of full-fledged gear (not just demo versions) for free.

The five amps in the free version include two Fenders (called American Tube Clean 1 and 2), two Marshalls (called British Tube Clean and Brit 8000) and an unnamed solid state bass preamp. It also has simulations of pedals including wah, tremolo, flanger, chorus and overdrive.
