@gidion72 You around by chance?? First pick listed in the am, but I'm hoping we'll get through the Jets and Texans tonight if nothing else
Has the league said anything about Watson? I feel that the Texans would trade him if they knew what he faced from the league
I believe they said they will allow the legal process to play out. Until at least pre-season they can tip-toe around it. They can't trade him now. They'll get pennies on the dollar. They can only cross their fingers and hope his name is somehow cleared
I really don’t see him getting clearance. He claims it’s a money grab, but 22 women willing to lie to get money. I lean towards him having done something wrong because it’s just too many of them filing suit
You're probably right. One is a money grab potentially. The minute you have corroborating witnesses, who don't even know each other, there's smoke. And where there's smoke.....well, you've probably heard this one before
The other interesting twist is that he has not been charged with any criminal activity, only civil lawsuits. At this point it's likely to be an expensive legal process for him, but he might not be facing much of a potential suspension.
Due process can take a long time in civil cases, and settling out of court is always a possibility. That would be the best outcome for the Texans, because they simply can't afford to dump him. He has over $20 million remaining in prorated bonuses. That was what killed the Falcons with the Michael Vick mess - his salary was off the books because he was suspended by the league, but they still had to take the cap charges from his signing bonus. And if he isn't suspended, his $35 million salary for 2022 is fully guaranteed. Hard to imagine another team taking that on. Houston is probably stuck with him, for better or worse.
