It keeps getting worse...I don't see how he can sweep this away, and I don't see how any team could pull a trade for him anyway.

I'm still fairly certain that CLE wants an EDGE counterpart for Garrett and It'll shock no-one if that's the route they go....

    However....

IF they do sign JeDaveon Clowney, does that change the plan? Keep in mind Clowney recorded 0 sacks in 8 games for Seattle last year....

I do expect Clowney to sign here on a one-year deal. Win-win for both sides... Clowney gets to get a ring and be hyper-productive opposite All Pro Myles Garrett, hitting free agency next season an banking a big deal. Browns get a terrific improvement against the run. The lack of sack production isn't as concerning since his deal has always been a stud against the rush.

All that said, I don't think it changes the plan. Browns are truly in a position to take the best available player and eye the next year (or two). I think they stick to their valuations and look to add pieces at either the back-end or defensive front with a slight chance of adding a wide receiver. Looking for them to go: EDGE, IDL, CB, S, or WR with that pick.

Quick re-draft of my Top 10 with a "seems unfair to your team" trade...

    1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence, QB Clemson
    2. New York Jets: Zach Wilson, QB Brigham Young
    3. San Francisco 49ers (f/Miami via Houston): Trey Lance, QB North Dakota State
    4. Atlanta Falcons: Justin Fields, QB Ohio State
    5. Cincinnati Bengals: Penei Sewell, OT Oregon
    6. Miami (f/Philadelphia): Ja'Marr Chase, WR Louisiana State
    7. Detroit Lions: Jaylen Waddle, WR Alabama
    8. Carolina Panthers: Mac Jones, QB Alabama
    9. Denver Broncos: Micah Parsons, LB Penn State
    10. TRADE!! Cleveland (f/Dallas): Kyle Pitts, TE/WR Florida

Dallas gets: #26 overall, 2022-second round selection, Odell Beckham Jr.
    Cleveland gets: #10 overall

Now... if we were to move all the way up to #10 (1,300 points) from #26 (700 points), we'd have bit of a gap to cover. Jerry has made no secret of wanting Odell in Dallas and he could perhaps be willing to part with the pick to get his $30 million dollar man some offensive firepower. And while I'm sure folks would rather see a cornerback here, Pitts may be the second-most talented non-QB in the class (behind Penei Sewell). Stefanski's offense makes use of tight ends and the current crop isn't cutting it. The size/speed combination, along with his ball skills, make him a deadly addition to an offense that could be built to feature the TE spot. Bottom line: would make this trade 10/10 times.

LOL, Not saying this because of his measurables... I'm saying it because everyone already knew and it was just verified. Pitts isn't making it to 10. That is a fun exercise and quite frankly could be more valuable in 2022 than OBJ and any other prospect they might draft. It might be worth the exercise to explore just how high they could move up the board. What other trade partners there may be, etc..

A healthy OBJ should be worth a first round draft pick...SHOULD...

So #26 (700), OBJ (value at #20 850, we gave up #17 and Jabrill Peppers) and a future second ( 120 = late second, value of late 3rd since it would be 2022) really should give you a value pretty close to: 1670, which by the chart is #6 overall. That is a lot of assets to give up for ONE rookie TE...but man, I think this guy could be a weapon utilized better than Odell.

Although, at the end of the day... He could be more hype than substance. He didn't dominate in college. That would be a big risk for a guy that comes in and gives you 600 yards and 3 TDs a year...

Update in the next Pittsburgh Steeler's QB:

My first question is actually about one person having 39 massage therapists... even for an athlete, is that normal?

My second question is... the 21 lawsuits against him are unnamed while here his defense trots out 19 named individuals vouching for him and pushing back on the allegations. Will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

I'm okay trading up to #6 if that's what it takes and that's all it costs. Kyle Pitts looks like the real deal.

Regarding his production in college, I would counter with Rob Gronkowski's 75 receptions, 1,197 yards, and 16 TDs over his two seasons as a starter (Pitts: 97 receptions, 1,419 yards, and 17 TDs by comparison).
    You mean, "Odell's Average"?

I want to see pictures of all 39... My assumption is that Brittany and company from the accuser's side are far more attractive than Helga and his/her crew from the defense's side... But, who am I to judge. You are right about one thing though, when you have more than 1 therapist per day in any given month, I would say that is definitely excessive. Might account for why he was constantly "explaining" what he needed on all the complaints filed. It would be interesting to see how many repeat sessions were given with this second group, as all but two I believe, from the first group were one and done sessions. The others made it to a second session before they ended the business relationship.

If he is that big of an A-Hole though, the number could grow rather rapidly.

No... Odell AND MAYBE MORE Importantly, two draft picks. Even if that is his average, you would just be replacing the same production and losing out on that #26 and future second round asset. The bigger plus would be the salary replacement.

Well, you HOPE to get his NFL production, but at the same time, Gronk was a second round pick, not a top 10 NFL receiver, a first AND a second rounder, like we are talking here.

    I think not.

Because there were pretty serious medical concerns on Gronk. I believe he had already had multiple back surguries while in college.

speaking of back surgeries. How much of a draft hit do you think Caleb Farley takes with his decision? The man’s got skills. He might fall to us at #26. Is it worth the risk to add ANOTHER injury question mark to the DB room? Talent says yes, but it did with Greedy too. At some point we need to start evaluating health as a major plus, right?

The most important ability is availability.

  16. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

In all seriousness, the only "reports" about him dropping are probably coming from teams in the teens who want him to fall there. Not unlike the Justin Fields "reports" that Dan Orlovsky was trying to break the other day. I still expect Farley to be the first cornerback off the board and if we had any competency at the top of the draft, Fields would be the first QB off the board.

    For anyone who missed it.

The Sugar Bowl example is just one of many. You know, the same Sugar Bowl where Trevor Lawrence looked average against an average Ohio State defense and Fields looked All Pro against a Top 20 defense.

So... Dan Orlovsky has been a "reporter" for all of about 3 years. I doubt he has any access to anyone inside tOSU coaching room, or even the players. He might PAY a freshmen to comment the way he wants them to, but he's no where near reliable in any way shape or form. He's "hearing from sources around the NFL" is a line given by those guys who don't have actual sources and are trying to break into the business. If he had actual information, it would have been more accurately, I have heard from a source inside the Buckeyes locker room.

As for the 49ers going to Jones Pro Day instead of Fields, which is another thing being thrown around... Film is what motivates GMs and Coaches alike. A pro day is not going to sway them to or fro in 99% of the cases. If anything, if I was a GM and had a strong feeling about one prospect over another, I avoid that prospect so that I don't show my cards on whom I prefer. They will get to see him live before the draft anyway based on reports. I thought all live visits were put on hold due to COVID?

  19. TopDawg Legend

Yeah, I just listened to Orlovsky's comments on Columbus radio just a few minutes ago. He did mention that the opinions expressed were not his, but that of higher up NFL execs involved in the decision making process.....Obviously it's not good for Fields if there's any validity to the claims that he gets low marks on work ethic. It certainly goes against everything I've ever heard about the kid. I sure hope there's no truth to it.

Me too.. I just keep going back to, he has never been in the NFL. It's in tOSU's best interest to get their former players drafted as high as possible for recruiting, so I HIGHLY doubt it came from inside their coaching staff. Where are they getting their information from? The NFL execs I mean. Are they looking at film and assuming he has bad work ethic?

I still believe it is coming from teams inside the top 12 that want him to drop. Anything to get doubt into the head of teams above them. In the end, it rarely makes a difference and the player goes where he should anyway.

I expect Fields to be the second or third player drafted.
