Report: Vikings have to forfeit their seventh-round pick This a Vikings team that loves to accumulate draft picks. Like in 2020, when the team broke a record for the most picks (15) in a seven-round NFL draft. Minnesota is gearing up for another NFL draft where it will have a plethora of picks, but due to a salary-cap violation, the Vikings will have one less than anticipated. According to Mark Craig of the Star Tribune, the Vikings committed the violation because of a practice squad player’s contract in 2019. The league elected to fine three Minnesota executives $10,000 each, per Craig. The Vikings now have 11 picks in the NFL draft. Minnesota also has two sixth-round draft choices, so the team will still have an opportunity to find value towards the end of the draft. This is an important draft for Minnesota. With all the players the Vikings released this offseason, the team will likely have to find starters and big contributors through the draft. They don’t have the luxury of adding a bunch of players who are projects. So even though the team is only losing a seventh-rounder, it’s still significant. Vikingswire
Yeah I read that also who's in charge seems like they go though some kind drama every year, guess I should used to this but I'm so tired of the same old same old it never changes never elite just good
When are the Vikings gonna get center Garett Bradbury is terrible and how come they don't develop Kyle Hinton,it's amazing how in free agency it was all about the defense and O-line was completely ignored again, are the Wilfs happy in being a mediocre to good team Mike Zimmer needs to fired and the Vikings got to find a HC ASAP!
Vikings trade for Mason Cole The Cardinals are trading offensive lineman Mason Cole to the Vikings, Mark Sanchez of ESPN reports. Arizona will get a sixth-round draft choice in return, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media. The Vikings could play Cole, a center with the Cardinals, at guard, Rapoport adds. Cole started 14 games last season. He joined the Cardinals as a third-round choice in 2018. In three seasons in Arizona, Cole played 46 games with 32 starts. The Vikings expressed interest in free agent guard Nick Easton, who played for them from 2015-18, but Easton continues to visit other places. NBC
I've checked him out on YouTube and different Vikings websites this guy is alright nothing to get excited about, thought the Vikings would bring in a big name but a typical Vikings move get somebody you never heard of ( sigh )
Kirk Cousins has been a disaster for the Vikings did he ever restructure his contract to help the team? they got to get rid of this evil threesome,I don't see a SB with these guys and they have had time more than enough time IMO
Cornerback Mackensie Alexander is returning “home.” Alexander’s agent, Neil Schwartz, announced Friday night on Twitter that Alexander has agreed to terms with the Vikings. Alexander, 27, was one of the top remaining free agents on PFT’s top-100 list. The Vikings selected Alexander in the second round of the 2016 draft. He spent his first four seasons in Minnesota before departing for the Bengals, who signed him to a one-year, $4 million deal. Alexander played 13 games, including 10 starts, with the Bengals last season. He totaled 47 tackles, one interception and six pass breakups. Alexander appeared in 55 games and started 10 with the Vikings, recording 103 tackles, two interceptions, 21 pass breakups and 4.5 sacks. He served as the team’s nickel back his final two seasons in Minnesota and could resume that role this season. The Vikings also signed Patrick Peterson in free agency and have Cameron Dantzler, Jeff Gladney and Mike Hughes at the position. Hughes’ future would appear to be uncertain with the corner upgrades. The Vikings, though, would save only $1.177 million in cap space by moving on from Hughes, who has played only 24 games with seven starts in his three seasons. NBC
The Vikings have added another veteran to the secondary. Free agent safety Xavier Woods has signed a one-year deal in Minnesota, according to multiple reports. Woods is the third free agent the Vikings have added to their secondary, following Patrick Peterson and Mackensie Alexander. A 2017 sixth-round pick of the Cowboys, Woods has played his entire four-year career in Dallas. He has started 15 games each of the last two years.
I guess there going to address the O-line in the draft because they sure as sh*t did not do anything in free agency, Mike Zimmer just had his way in free agency last year was a fluke no way this is happening again his pride was hurt laughing, Zimmer can't have his way during the draft it's got to be about the O-line really it's time to get serious about fixing this..wish the Vikings had the O-line Dennis Green had
In my opinion, its going to be ok. I like what the Vikings have done thus far. The addition of Mason Cole is a good move and will help considerably on the O-line... and they arnt done just yet. I gotta love what they done to the defense also, the additions of Peters, Woods and Alexander is great... these guys are going to bring experience to the secondary and some decent mentoring to the youth on the defensive roster. Vikings will have a good ball-hawking defense once again. They addressed the D-line also... the addition of a stout DT (Tomlinson) is going to help against the run, something that is a great concern as they couldnt stop anybody last season. Could they have done a better job this off-season? In a word, yes, but i think they did well enough to improve things greatly. Chad Bebe was good and if the pull the trigger on a WRS in the draft and score big again like they did with Jefferson, watch out. Dont forget the linebackers issues also... that must be addressed in the draft and pretty high up in it too. Barr and Kendricks are real good, but with the injuries and contracts, a good addition there is a top target also. _________ ___________________ Im excited. This Vikings team is going to be improved over last season and I think Zimmer did the best he could with what he had outside of the joke of the first 3 games. I think the Vikes are going to surprise a few if the stay healthy, of course. (homer vision 101)
I do hope the Vikings find a wr in the draft and another linebacker would be nice, but got to get an O-lineman I just don't know what to expect from the Vikings
I also like the addition of Peterson,Woods, Alexander, the maturity and help they will bring to Harrison Smith and the Vikings young cornerbacks
