    Leonard Fournette back to Bucs

The Buccaneers now have almost the whole band back together for an attempt at a return to the Super Bowl.

Free agent running back Leonard Fournette is the latest to confirm that he’ll be back in Tampa Bay for the 2021 season/

“I am re-signing with the Bucs,” Fournette told Josina Anderson.

Fournette arrived in Tampa Bay after the Jaguars cut him just before the start of last season. He had an up-and-down year, with career-lows in carries (97) and yards (367). But he played a significant role in the Bucs’ run to the Super Bowl, starting all four postseason games and totaling 300 rushing yards and 148 receiving yards in the postseason.

The Bucs have now re-signed virtually every significant player from last year’s championship team. Free agent wide receiver Antonio Brown is the only noteworthy player on the 2020 roster who is not yet under contract for 2021.

I was hoping the he was just sitting in a room with a bunch of stolen TV's or something like that. The cops just grab everyone in the house and ask questions later. But a gun ? That's not good !! Do they take their law and order seriously in Ohio?

Guns... yes. He's in deep, in my opinion.

Sammy Watkins agrees to one-year deal with Ravens

The Ravens have their receiver. Finally.

After striking out in attempts to land JuJu Smith-Schuster and T.Y. Hilton, the Ravens have agreed to terms with Sammy Watkins on a one-year, $6 million deal with $5 million fully guaranteed, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The Ravens ranked first in rushing and 32nd in passing last season.

Their wideouts ranked last in the NFL in catches (137) and receiving yards (1,729). Willie Snead left in free agency, agreeing with the Raiders on Friday and Dez Bryant is not returning.

Watkins, 27, played 10 games with the Chiefs last season, making 37 catches for 421 yards and two touchdowns. He played only the Super Bowl in the 2020 postseason and caught one pass for 13 yards.

Watkins, the fourth overall choice of the Bills in 2014, played three seasons in Buffalo, one with the Rams and three with the Chiefs. He has one 1,000-yard season and no Pro Bowls on his resume.

Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore was arrested Thursday night in Cleveland on suspension of possessing a stolen handgun.

On Friday, Lattimore was charged with a fourth-degree felony of receiving a stolen firearm, NFL Media reports.

Lattimore waived his preliminary hearing, and his case bound over to the grand jury of the Cuyahoga County Court Common Pleas Court. His bond was set at $5,000 during Friday’s hearing, per NFL Media.

Lattimore was a passenger in a car stopped by police for “multiple traffic violations.” Two other passengers were arrested for having weapons while under disability. The driver was arrested for improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and issued a citation for driving without working taillights.

The handgun in Lattimore’s possession was reported stolen by someone in Euclid, Ohio.

Lattimore’s attorney released a statement before Lattimore was charged, calling Lattimore’s arrest a “misunderstanding.”

Lattimore, 24, was a first-round choice of the Saints in 2017. He has made three Pro Bowls, including in 2020.

Lattimore is entering the final year of his rookie deal set to earn $10.244 million in 2021.

If guilty, minimum sentence is 6 months in jail. Although under circumstance, I’m sure some or all could be suspended with probation.

Yes, the NFL will expand to 17 regular-season games this week

Maybe it’s just a slow news day.

Whatever the case, a report from ESPN that the NFL’s owners are expected to add a 17th regular-season game this week is not news. Anyone who has been paying any attention to the NFL over the past few months knew that it wasn’t just “expected” to happen, but that it is happening.

The only question left is whether the NFL will reduce the preseason to three games or to two. The owners are expected (am I doing that right?) to reduce the preseason to three games.

The NFL has wanted to expand the regular season for years. Last year, the league secured an agreement from the NFL Players Association to move to 17. The new TV deals were negotiated based on the assumption that there will be 17 games; ESPN even negotiated and obtained a Saturday doubleheader in Week (wait for it) 18.

So, yes, it’s happening. The fact that it’s happening has been common knowledge.

As to where the 17th game will come from, we reported last year that it will be an interconference contest, based on where a team finished in its division the prior year. Peter King provided more specificity several weeks ago, pointing out that the 17th game means the Chiefs and Packers will play this year.

On Friday’s PFT Live, we did a draft of the best games that will come from the formula that generates the extra game. The video is attached.

what??? No video?? You’re slacking Will! J/K, thanks for the updates. It sounds like some players aren’t happy. Those same players would probably be first in line to have higher salaries than their peers.

Who will match up for the 17th NFL game between the AFC North and NFC West?

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Seattle Seahawks - If the Seahawks still have Wilson, the Steelers had better hope that this is a home game. How much gas does Ben have left in the tank?
Baltimore Ravens vs. Los Angeles Rams - Depends on which Rams team shows up.
Cleveland Browns vs. Arizona Cardinal - I've been watching the Browns for a few years, waiting for them to "arrive". This one's gonna be a statement game for them.
Cincinnati Bengals vs. San Francisco 49ers - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Jarran Reed agrees to one-year deal with Chiefs

The Chiefs bolstered their defense Sunday, agreeing to terms on a one-year deal with defensive tackle Jarran Reed, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports.

The contract is worth up to $7 million with $5 million guaranteed.

Reed, whom the Seahawks cut Friday, reunites with Frank Clark on the Chiefs defensive line.

Reed, a second-round choice in 2016, has appeared in 72 games in five seasons, starting 63.

He served a six-game suspension in 2019 for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, and he finished that season with two sacks and 27 tackles. In 2020, Reed made 6.5 sacks, 38 tackles, five tackles for loss and 14 quarterback hits in starting all 16 games.

Reed, 28, has 19 sacks the past three seasons.

Colts sign Julién Davenport to one-year deal

The Colts are adding some depth on the offensive line.

Per multiple reports, Julién Davenport has signed with Indianapolis on a one-year deal.

Zak Keefer of TheAthletic.com reported the Colts were expected to add Davenport last week.

Houston selected Davenport in the fourth round back in 2017. He spent two years with the club, starting 15 games in 2018 — 13 as a left tackle. He was then traded to Miami as part of the deal for Laremy Tunsil and played the last two years with the Dolphins. He started eight games in 2019, but just one in 2020.

After Anthony Castonzo’s retirement, the Colts previously addressed offensive tackle this offseason by signing Sam Tevi.

There are now 17 games in an NFL regular season.

As expected, NFL owners have approved a proposal to add one game to the regular season at their meeting on Tuesday. The preseason will drop to three games for any team not playing in the Hall of Fame Game.

“This is a monumental moment in NFL history,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “The CBA with the players and the recently completed media agreements provide the foundation for us to enhance the quality of the NFL experience for our fans. And one of the benefits of each team playing 17 regular-season games is the ability for us to continue to grow our game around the world.”

The added game will be an intra-conference matchup between teams that finished in the same position in their division during the previous season. The host of those games will switch conferences from year to year with the AFC hosting this year’s games.

For this season, the matchups will be AFC East vs. NFC East, AFC North vs. NFC West, AFC South vs. NFC South, and AFC West vs. NFC North.

In addition to those changes, the change in schedule also includes a change to the process of setting international games. Each team will be required to play internationally at least once every eight years.
