He signed for the 8th highest ave/per year for edge rushers. I'd say that is a fair contract. Maybe not much of a discount, but being the top prospect in free agency, he also didn't bleed them.
That's Former Cleveland Brown, Cam Erving, thank you very much. Honestly did not know that you could/would sign a third-string OT on the first day of free agency, tho...
Given her connections, as well as the connection between Pittsburgh and Cleveland, I'd say Bud Dupree to Cleveland, confirmed. But she said top flight pass rushers. She didn't say "guy who tries his best and is just okay".
That's an upgrade over Sandejo!! The safety room just got better, especially if Grant Delpit comes back healthy. Harrison and Johnson starting though, that's a nice tandem!
Thom was a year behind me in high school. The hardest I've ever been hit was by him in practice !!! I think he invented the term "de-cleated" that day.
"Aww man... can't believe the Browns didn't get in on the DE market." "You know what... we're good." *beings feverishly watching tape of 2021 EDGE prospects*
Really hard to stress how atrocious our safety play was in 2020. John Johnson is a massive upgrade, so this jump feels right. And still not certain I wouldn't address the position in the draft, either. Ronnie Harrison looked good but was inconsistent with his availability and Delpit is unproven due to his IR season.
Agreed, Johnson makes the unit legit. Harrison proved he can perform at a high level and Delpit is just a high prospect. Both are complimentary players to Johnson. Getting another young guy in the draft would be great.
Some solid CB options left in free agency (to my knowledge, we haven't tendered offers to Terrance Mitchell, Kevin Johnson (slot), or Tavierre Thomas. I would expect them to make a signing or two there before the week is out. Fill a couple of those major needs in free agency and then turn to the Draft to add talent at wide receiver and the defensive line. The devaluation of LB continues to vex me with this team, but that's the organizational direction they've chosen to go down and whether or not Joe Woods' defense can get it done next season will remain to be seen. Getting back all the players who missed time last season, another year in Stefanski's offense... Browns should be without exception mentioned in the Top 5 best positioned to win a Super Bowl.
