Dalvin Cook: I think Justin Jefferson can be one of the best in the game



The trade that sent Stefon Diggs from Minnesota to Buffalo looks like one of those rare deals that’s worked out well for both teams.

While Diggs and the Bills advanced to the AFC Championship Game, the Vikings drafted Justin Jefferson at No. 22 overall. He was easily the best receiver out of the rookie class, even though Jefferson was the fifth one off the board behind Henry Ruggs, Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, and Jalen Reagor.

Most years, registering 88 catches for 1,400 yards with seven touchdowns would be enough to win offensive rookie of the year. But Jefferson’s first season coincided with that of Justin Herbert, who set several passing records and won the AP’s honor.

But Jefferson is nevertheless an emerging star. And during an appearance on The Herd on Friday, running back Dalvin Cook said he quickly figured that out about the receiver.

“It took a conversation, to be honest,” Cook said. “It’s squarely about how you carry yourself, what he stands for, who he is. And you can see right now, him doing the ‘Gritty’ — and that’s something he brought to the game just being who he is. And I think JJ, his ceiling is so high, if he keeps being who he is and keeps working hard, I think he can be one of the best in the game.”

There’s an argument to be made that Jefferson is already at that level. He finished the season fourth in receiving yards, 15th in receptions, and eighth among qualified receivers at 15.9 yards per reception. With a full offseason under his belt, Jefferson should be primed to make even more of an impact in 2021.

Hope they find another receiver in the draft to complement Justin Jefferson

 

The Vikings better not go after a TE time to make Irv Smith jr and Conklin a part of the game plan don't waste them like the Vikings did with Rudolph looks he's gonna be a free agent

 

I think they will key on defense and o-line. Conklin and Smith can carry the TE position for now, but a 6th or late pick for a TE may not be a bad idea if Rudolph walks.

 

When are the Vikings gonna kick Mike Zimmer to the curb i just don't git it this run first mind set,the Vikings reminds of the Marvin Lewis Bengals of being good but not elite

 

I hope the Vikings can find a center in free agency the front office got to get serious about the O-line

 

I would think thats a top priority. Not first round, but it needs addressed ASAP.

 

Well I just read your post looks like Kyle Rudolph has been cut don't waste Irv Smith jr like they did with Rudolph THAT WAS A DAMN SHAME IMO

What now I'm so tired of Rick and Mike show they wants to be good not great why don't they trade Anthony Barr and when it comes to Danielle Hunter pay the man...the front office got to get serious cause this good not great is getting old

 

It's time to trade Anthony Barr he ain't all that he's just ok Mike Zimmer has lost the locker room he and Tricky Ricky are on a very hot seat IMO they have had enough time they seem content with just being good

 

If Danielle Hunter wants to go let him and get some draft picks and a stud player for him, is this turning into another Stefon Diggs type of situation

In a head scratching move they did not use the franchise tag on Aaron Jones don't understand this move by Green Bay

 

The Packers want to keep him, no doubt, but they dont want to have to pay him top tier RB money. They could have made a huge mistake.

 

Riley Reiff has been cut Zimmer has lost the team ( and I wonder can he get it togerher )Tricky Ricky looks like he has a mess on his hands they better get serious about the O-line trade Anthony Barr and who's next to go?

 

I'm not sure which way the Vikings are headed Rick Spielman put the Vikings in real bad way him and Zimmer are on a real red hot seat if they don't go deep in the playoffs they should be fired
