Brady is the most accomplished NFL player. I dunno if I'd have him at #1 but he's right there. He's had more than his share of good teams. But if great goes by accomplishments then Bill Russell beats him, maybe Wayne.

Cover and allow to simmer for about 1 hour 20 minutes or until the meat is tender. Add the diced potato and cook for 5 minutes. Fold in the sliced carrot and pimento berries and cook for five minutes. To serve: Serve with Plain Rice, Vegetable Salad and Mango Chutney.
Gretzky was a beast. He is #1 in all time goals and assists (of course this means #1 in points scored as well). What is scary though if you take away his goals (894 of them) he still finishes first in total points. 200 points or more in a season has been done 4 times in the history of the NHL all 4 belong to Gretzky. Of the top 10 single best scoring seasons Gretzky owns 8 of them and of the top 20 he owns 10 the next best has 4. Going back to his all time points lead (2857). The closest active player is Joe Thornton with 1511. Joe is 41 and has 25 seasons under his belt its safe to say he is not catching the great one. Next up are Ovechkin (1290) and Crosby (1272). This year being both mens 16th season. Say by some miricle they play 25 like Thornton. Ovechkin would need to average 174 points a year to catch him and Crosby would need 176. In other words not happening. BTW if you are talking about overall nfl GOAT Jerry Rice is in the discussion.
Brady has won more SBs than anyone else has been to. Sorry Brady is the goat in the NFL. Belichick had Brady as his starter for 20 years and as soon as he leaves Belichick has a losing season. Brady goes on to win number seven while Belichick searches for another QB. I think Bill needs to gracefully retire.
Bill also had the most opt-outs and because Brady kept sticking around they didn't have a QB. The jury is still out. Brady is sick, no doubt about that but he went to a team with 2 #1 WRs and they brought Gronk in who after a rusty start became a beast again and other additions that came cheap to play with Brady. These weren't Winston's Bucs but it also goes to show how bad Winston was that he didn't have any success there.
There's another thing, in addition to the strong points by Joe. It is quite possible that Brady knew the Pats were in for a rough season, and that greased his exit. No one can blame Brady if he wanted to continue to play, but at his age only if he had a reasonable chance to win more bling. The Pats (relative) failure this season combined with Brady's new ring is not sufficient cause to support the contention that the Pats won because of Brady alone. Let's wait a bit to see when the Pats & Belichick have a reasonable opportunity to respond. But, IMO, the Pats were headed for a falter with or without Brady
Yeah, I thought it just had to be a joke. Personally, I think the most accomplished athletes in a single sport are most likely to come from the golf or tennis worlds (male OR female), so it's hard for me to even imagine a serious list without names from those worlds on it.
Accomplished athletes from a (mainly) individual sport such as golf or tennis that dominate their sport should always be considered but rarely will be. Swimming is another good example. There weren't too many athletes that dominated their sport like Michael Phelps or Mark Spitz did in their prime.

Phelps and Usain Bolt are good additions. It is practically impossible to compare across sports, the same way it's impossible to compare across eras. All I'm saying is that Serena Williams was out there winning championships with a baby in her body, and didn't have a team to carry her... Puts the "most accomplished athlete" talk in a different light.
Back to football . . . Tom Brady has been playing professional football for (now) 21 years and has won 7 championships. That, by itself, is a remarkable accomplishment. Over his career, he is 219-64-0 (0.773). Also remarkable. But allow me to offer up another candidate. This guy didn't even start playing organized football until his sophomore year in college. After World War II, he went on to have a 10 year career in professional football. In those 10 years, he went on to lead his teams to the championship game in all 10 years and also won seven of them. His record as a pro was 57-13-1 (0.810). And - OBTW - he also played professional basketball for a year in the NBL (precursor to the NBA) and won the league championship in that year. In terms of highschool athletes... I'd just like to say that I once scored 5 touchdowns in a game. 3 on offense and 2 on defense. I was also ejected from the same game for telling an official to have intercourse with his mom. I feel like that's probably a record.
