Yep, no merch, and in my case no Game Pass. They made it clear, all they care about is the $$. You called this by the way, I thought maybe backing into the playoffs with TWO embarassments to the Packers would at least get us the "Virginia is pissed" speech and instead we got a VOTE OF FUCKING CONFIDENCE for Sweaty Teddy. Who then tells us "hey we've got everything except wins". I mean that's fucking comical and the media is rightly having a fucking field day. I guess Teddy should have gone through the faux press conference before being hired. Agreed, the media were really on their game coming after them. I was a bit surprised given how they usually treat the franchise with kid gloves. I don't know for sure what's going to happen with this team, but I do know it's going to be a fucking disaster. And by that, I mean mediocrity is what they are striving for, there is almost no chance next year for anything to happen, and we're a few years away from a contender at least.
Dark months to come, ladies and gents. Georgie went on AM670 this afternoon and the worst fears assumed are true. Pace is his "football guy" and has the green light to trade future 1st round picks. He is "not interested" in a 'football czar'/pres of football ops (while Teddy is business side) coming in to oversee Pace/Nagy/explain to George that their analysis sucks and is wrong. George's faith in Pace is just that great. Also he knew Pace was trading up for Mitch. All mixed in with more cheap buzzwords and his nice guy persona. Seeing as how this'll be the last of bears talk for a bit, everybody be well.
I was thoroughly pissed and completely embarrassed listening to that shit today. The only way this franchise can win a SuperBowl is on accident.
I heard his interview on Waddle and Silvy. He said the same thing there, though the bigger takeaway for me was his faith in Ted as President/CEO and in the overall hierarchal structure of the team. It sounds like Ted will have this job for life with the "football guy" right underneath Ted. This structure "works" for Georgie. Some other takeaways from Georgie: He said the McCaskeys are "uniquely qualified" to continue the legacy of Halas. He knew the press conference wouldn't be received well, but didn't care. He has total faith that Pace will learn from his past mistakes in terms of the QB. He does feel the Packers losses hurt more. He was more upset with Anthony Miller's behavior in the playoff game than Javon Wims behavior in the first Saints game. Dark months to come? Dark years to come.
It's amazing. You get lambasted in the media, and your response is to.....DOUBLE DOWN on everything you said. Hoge said it was mostly the way they said things that really lit everyone up, not what they said. Everyone knew Pace and Nagy were coming back. His fierce defense of Teddy is what kills me the most. And the faith in Pace. On the under center podcast, they basically said they've never felt the fans have ever been more disrespected, and that presser was the worst thing since Dave McGinnis. Which is what knocked Mike McCaskey out of the picture. There's no hope here honestly. BWW says it best, if they win the Super Bowl it will be the luckiest thing in the world. Because what is very, very clear, is they have no idea on the football side and are happy to pump us for money. Our next hope really is once Virginia croaks if the kids can't agree on how to divvy it up and they are forced to sell by the NFL. Dark years for sure, see you gents around the draft when we see Pace trade up for the worst QB of the bunch, again. If I can be bothered I might change my avatar to old George there. Mr "Not a Football Guy" himself. This team is the embodiment of the Tribune Cubs. To a lesser extent the Bill Wirtz Blackhawks. Ownership, above all else, is where this franchise fails.
It is and I'm sick of Ted Phillips getting a pass by some fans. No one can say he's blameless. And if he doesn't participate in football decisions...why was he included in the press conference the other day? Hate this fucking team. I really hate how hopeless the future feels.
Why do the McClaskeys own the team? Do they hold on to it for the prestige of owning a losing franchise? I really don't understand what's going on. Do they actually see what's happening when Trubs' knees start knocking together in the pocket or when Nagy starts getting fancy and doesn't actually advance the game?
You British blokes...I'm sitting here thinking WTF is a "Poundland Motherfucker"? Is that the same as an uphill gardener?
I'm a little more confused than usual. I was reading Rapoport yesterday and there were a lot of tweets asking about Watson so I got excited and then I stopped. Are they going to look for a QB or wot? Trubisky is engaged so he's going to be next to even more useless this season. Look at all of the guys who are married or engaged, they all get useless. That's what keeping a woman does to you. Can you say emasculation?
Rumour Mill today Jan 27th. Jordan Love MAYBE traded to Chicago Bears ? I doubt this trade will happen....as the Team is an Arch Rival.....what is Chicago going to do with Trubisky and his 29 M $ contract. Sounds like DeShawn Watson is going to go too the 49ers.
By the way....what the fuck are you even talking about? They didn't pick up his 5th year. He's a free agent. Don't answer this. Just fuck off.
They didn't pick up his 5th year. He's a free agent. Yes your right........but what is Chicago going to do ??? Will they re-sign him.......probably not Will they Trade him.........probably not Will they Draft a QB........probably but they draft 20th It is really too bad for Chicago Bear Fans and this dilemma for a QB has been going for decades. Nick Foles is the only QB under contract as of season end.....it is going to be interesting to see what Management of the Bears does.
Well the Bears' entire coaching staff may be in disarray but the fans' direct approach is certainly in order. Bww and Ev you make me laugh!! I am so proud ...
