Has Pete Carroll reached that point where the game is passing him by? Or did that ship already sail and people are just starting to admit it?
Only one problem here . . . Salary Cap. With a projected Salary Cap of only $176,000,000, Pittsburgh is starting out at around $21,000,000 OVER the cap. Shedding Roethlisberger's contract could get them close to even, but then they also have a shit load of UFA's on their roster that would need to be re-signed to keep that solid roster intact. It's going to be interesting to see what Colbert does this off season.
A few years ago I had him on the hotseat. He treated his players like college kids that were his slaves and a revolving door every 4 years. He didn't seem to respect them as men. He then seemed to understand and fix it when it became evident he couldn't run it like USC. A bit more slowly this time but he's starting to get stale in other ways, like Andy Reid in Philly did.
Bears defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano is retiring, according to multiple reports earlier Tuesday night. That was followed by multiple reports that the Bears are expected to retain General Manager Ryan Pace and coach Matt Nagy. The team has yet to make an official announcement. ________ _________________ I read that on NBC... looks like they may be standing pat.
Bears fans should be extremely happy that they got to keep their coach who got them into the post season. Plus their not losing their GM. Too bad Pags is retiring.
It's interesting how they just don't make a clean sweep of it by firing everyone and getting a new QB. They need to place smarter coaching minds behind next season. Pace and Nagy are not the right fit for the Bears.
I only just noticed the HOF finalists. To me it's an easy 5 for induction. Alan Faneca, Calvin Johnson, John Lynch, Peyton Manning & Charles Woodson
I think it's more that he has become far too rigid in his approach. He seemed to work better from a point of adversity, finding ways to utilize the talent he had. Now, he has a solid roster but he tries to force it into an unnecessary mold.
If I had to guess about hat the future for the teams with cap issues will be, I think teams are going to have inventive contracts that give them flexibility in year one followed by back pay in 2022.
If I were to try and make some ridiculous kind of early prediction which teams would win their division in 2021, I may have the most confidence in the Titans. It's going to be very interesting to see who the Titans take in their 1st pick @ 2021 Draft......22 overall. If he is still available I hope they Pick Zaven Collins....EDGE.....he is a great Pass Rusher. But they also have to consider a WR........I think Davis will sign elsewhere in the off season.
Bills, and whoever they play in the Super Bowl, will be the best two games on the remaining NFL schedule. There - fixed it.
Bills, and whoever they play in the Super Bowl, Dan........can you imagine the Bills vs Brady in Miami.
Well, it won’t be in Miami. The SB is in Tampa this year. But otherwise, obviously I can envision that matchup. Beating Brady for the Lombardi would exorcise many demons lurking in the Bills psyche for the last 20 years
Well, it won’t be in Miami. The SB is in Tampa this year. OOOPPPSSS my bad.........TKS.....if it does happen Brady will get all the Ink......that will be the good news for Buffalo. Go out and beat him for the Trophy.
I still dont get why teams rush to hire their head coaches while playoffs are still goingmand some of the best cordinators are off limits. Its not like they have to beat others to recruiting. I get it they have draft and free agents to get ready for but by not waiting are you really acting in the best intrest of your team? That applies to hiring head coaches and cordinators.
I’m speculating, but I think it’s something like we’d rather land our #2 option today while we can than risk waiting for choice #1 and possibly have him decline our offer or get beat to his services by our competition. By then you’ve possibly lost options 1, 2, and 3. Sidenote: If you’re referring to Eric Bienemy or Brian Daboll they’ve both interviewed with at least a couple teams each already. Possible that on the down-low they’ve already agreed to join some other organization.
My hope is he still with the chiefs next year and then when the Steelers wake up and go Tomlin blows he becomes the next it coach in black and gold.
