Justin Herbert had a phenomenal rookie season for Los Angeles, so hats off there. He put up some gaudy stats but I - admittedly - didn't watch many of their games, so I'm not sure if those were Matt Ryan garbage time stats or if -- like the Browns -- the defense just couldn't hold when it needed to. He threw 18 touchdowns to only 3 interceptions during a seven game stretch when the team went 1-6, so something else is rotten in Los Angeles if it wasn't on the QB. Tough to call Las Vegas a win when we, in fact, lost to them this year. But we also lost to the Jets, so like they say: any given Sunday. That said, their QB is a liability still and their success largely comes from the ground game. Again, I expect the Browns to field a better defense in 2021 which should go a long way. Regarding Denver - and specifically, Elway -- it should be interesting to see how that relationship works. Mike Holmgren served as just the president for the Browns and hired "his guys" to handle the day-to-day operations (after all, when you're the last one in the office and first one out, someone has to do the day-to-day). Problem was, he hired bums like Tom Heckert to serve in that capacity. No guarantee he somehow gets GM right when he hasn't done anything else correct since coaxing Peyton Manning to come play for the team.
I had the opportunity to watch a couple Charger games on NFL Replay (not much else to do during lockdown except watch a game where you already know who won). Herbert can flat throw the ball where it needs to go and get it there when it needs to be there. Plus, the dude's got some stones. I think the Chargers found their QB. Now . . . their defense - that's another story.
Quarterback Dwayne Haskinsā visit with the Steelers apparently went well. According to multiple reports, the Steelers have agreed to terms with Haskins on a contract. He will be part of their offseason roster and compete for a spot on the 53-man one they will take into the 2021 season. Haskins started six games for Washington this season and was pulled from his final appearance in Week 16. That start came a week after Haskins was seen out partying without a mask, which earned him a fine from the team and Washington cut Haskins a few days after that Week 16 loss. The Steelers had four quarterbacks under contract in 2020. Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph are signed for next season, but Josh Dobbs is headed for free agency and Devlin Hodges said his goodbyes to the team this week.
You're asking the wrong Buckeye. I wasn't a big fan of Haskins at Ohio State. It didn't surprise me he flamed out in Washington.
Per league sources, the Steelers have offered Hue Jackson a contract. He has until January 31 to accept.
I wasn't a big fan of Haskins at Ohio State. It didn't surprise me he flamed out in Washington. OK.........he Threw 50 TD's in 2018 as a Buckeye............sorry for thinking you were a Fan of his.
There were other Buckeyes on the receiving end of every one of those 50 TD's. Much like Terrell Pryor, J.T. Barnett, Braxton Miller and Cardale Jones before him - Haskins benefitted from the wealth of talent surrounding him. How many of those other guys made a dent in the NFL?
