“He just wants out,” a source close to Watson told SI.com.

I wonder will Watson go too Chicago ???

As a Vikings fan really don't like that scenario DeShaun Watson to the Bears

Yeah, well don’t worry. The Bears aren’t nearly smart enough to pull that off.
And even if they did it’ll probably cost them six 1st rounders

Chiefs optimistic Patrick Mahomes will be cleared to play

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes appears to be trending in the right direction to play in the AFC Championship Game.

Mahomes suffered a concussion on Sunday and remains in the concussion protocol but has cleared some steps already this week, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The report says the Chiefs are optimistic that he can practice this week and play Sunday.

In addition to the concussion, Mahomes suffered a foot injury, and that will also be worth monitoring this week. But Mahomes was continuing to play on the injured foot before he suffered the concussion, so it would appear not to be serious enough to keep him off the field.

If Mahomes isn’t cleared to practice, Chad Henne will be running the first-string offense.

I am pretty certain Mahomes will play. As a Bills fan, I certainly hope he plays. If the Bills go to the SB after beating Henne people would question the legitimacy of their championship.

Philip Rivers is retiring from the NFL

Philip Rivers has decided to call it a career.

Colts General Manager Chris Ballard said last week that he expected to meet with Rivers in a month to discuss the quarterback’s plans for the future. That meeting won’t be necessary because Rivers told Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune that he is retiring from the NFL after 17 seasons.

Rivers said that he’d considered retirement in recent years, but that “this is the first year I felt like the ending was real.”

“It’s just time,” Rivers said. “It’s just right. . . . I can sit here and say, ‘I can still throw it. I love to play.’ But that’s always going to be there. I’m excited to go coach high school football.”

Rivers ends his career with 63,440 passing yards and 421 passing touchdowns. He’s fifth in NFL history in both categories and ranks high in several other metrics. He was never able to make it to a Super Bowl with the Chargers or Colts, which is the biggest missing piece of an otherwise standout career that came to an end on Wednesday.

    HOF, for sure.

... For sure? I mean, QB's in the modern era are always going to have inflated stats vs previous eras. Against his contemporaries, you can say that he was very good but never the best, and his consecutive starts streak is pretty remarkable. But... Hall of Fame? I don't know.

Philip Rivers will make the HOF if they have a year where they need fillers to make it to enough players to have a decent class size. If they don’t ever need fillers he’s screwed

I don't think there's anyway the Bears can swing it. And if they did it would come at the expense of the defense...a unit that already declined during the second half of this season.

His longevity and the fact he simply didn't miss games will help him. His lack of postseason success will not.

And I get that SB wins weight heavy...but is everyone here totally cool with a HOF that features Eli Manning but leaves a superior QB like Rivers out of it?

Maybe you could throw in Mack

Yes, because Eli slayed the evil empire twice

Wins are a team stat, to me. But I recognize the HOF is for the best of the best, and I feel like Rivers is just outside of that (though not as far out as Eli). Was Rivers ever regarded as a top 3 QB in a given year, in his career? Genuine question, because I'll admit some ignorance to the highs of his career.

I think Rivers is closer to being in, than not being in.

Rivers' 421 career touchdown passes rank fifth in league history, and his streak of 240 straight starts is second behind only Brett Favre among quarterbacks. Rivers had 12 4,000-yard passing seasons and finished his career with 63,440 passing yards, the fifth-most in NFL history. With 192 consecutive appearances, the seven-time Pro Bowler is the owner of the league’s longest active quarterback streak. Rivers has also thrown for over 4,000 yards in eight of his last nine seasons.

He ranks seventh in NFL history with 4,171 completions and 10th in completion percentage (64.2 percent). Rivers is 106-86 (.552) as a starter, and he has led the Chargers to four AFC West titles and taken the team to the playoffs five times. Since he became a full-time starter in 2006, Rivers threw for more yards than every quarterback but Drew Brees. He tossed more touchdown passes, and his teams won more games, than everyone except Brees and Tom Brady... so he was pretty dominate during his era. He just doesnt have a ring, but i think there is plenty of room in the Hall for him.

Probably not...definitely was never a 1 or 2. Maybe around 2010ish some people would have put him in the top 3. But I don't think when you look at extended portions of his career he was.

  18. BearsWillWin Drunk (Probably) Patreon Champion Manager Bears Blackhawks Cubs

I don't think you're wrong at all. But I think Rivers will be a victim of the era he played in and the fact that he never won a SB will be held against him.

I think he had a truly fantastic career.
