Sometimes, you get stuck with a lemon. The Raiders with Todd Marinovich and JaMarcus Russell, the Chargers with Ryan Leaf, the Browns with Tim Couch, Ravens and Kyle Boller, The Seahawks with Rick Mirer, etc etc etc.
Had you said, "the Browns with Johnny Manziel", I would agree. But - Tim Couch was the classic "chicken - egg". He had absolutely nothing surrounding him on an expansion team . We'll never know if he could have developed into a decent QB. Under the right situation, I suspect he could have turned out a lot better than he did.
Washington doesn't want a Mitch Trubisky where he plays his way into more time. Playing like crap, and a bad attitude and a chance to prove his worth that may be a mirage? Recipe for disaster and they got his ass OUT.
He was on the list as he was the #1 overall pick mainly. I forgot about Mr. College Manziel and I also forgot Vince Young. There are, I am sure, more that I am forgetting
Josh Allen sets single-season team records for completions, touchdown passes The Bills lead the Patriots 38-9 early in the fourth quarter, so Josh Allen has turned the keys over to Matt Barkley for mop-up duty. Allen finished his night completing 27 of 36 passes for 320 yards and four touchdowns. Stefon Diggs had nine receptions for 145 yards and three touchdowns. It is Allen’s eighth 300-yard passing day, setting a new franchise record. Allen has set other single-season team records. His 34 touchdown passes this season are the most for any player in franchise history. Jim Kelly threw 33 touchdown passes in 1991. Allen also has broken the team’s completions record, topping the 375 Drew Bledsoe had in 2002. NBC
Ben Roethlisberger won’t play Sunday, Mason Rudolph starts The last time that Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph started against the Browns, he wound up being blasted in the head by a helmet-wielding Myles Garrett during a post-play fracas. Rudolph will get another chance to face Garrett and the Browns in Week 17. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced on Tuesday that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not play against Cleveland this weekend and that Rudolph will get the start in his place. “I haven’t had an opportunity to talk to him about it, but I’m sure he’s excited about the opportunity to start,” Tomlin said of Rudolph. Tomlin noted that the team can not move up to the top seed in the AFC and said other players may also sit out, but that the Steelers will be trying to win the game. A victory and a Bills loss would secure the No. 2 seed for Pittsburgh while a loss gives Buffalo the spot. Any decision to rest starters will have an impact on the Wild Card race as well. The Browns are in the playoffs with a win and the path to victory would presumably look a little better against second-string players. NBC
Taylor Heinicke taking first-team reps at Washington Football Team practice The Washington Football Team has not yet named its starting quarterback for Sunday night’s must-win game against the Eagles, but Taylor Heinicke is running with the first-string offense today. Reporters on the scene said Heinicke is getting the first-team reps while Alex Smith works off to the side as he continues to heal from a calf injury. Smith missed Sunday’s game and Heinicke saw his first action on offense when he replaced Dwayne Haskins. The Football Team cut Haskins the next day, elevating Heinicke to first team unless and until Smith can return. Washington has no other quarterbacks on the active roster, although Steven Montez is available on the practice squad. If Washington beats Philadelphia on Sunday night, Washington wins the NFC East. If Washington loses, the winner of Sunday afternoon’s Cowboys-Giants game wins the NFC East. NBC
John Wolford is first QB to make his debut in season finale with playoffs on the line Rams quarterback John Wolford will be an NFL first when he takes the field on Sunday. Wolford will be the first quarterback in the Super Bowl Era to make his first career start in his team’s last game with a chance to make the playoffs, according to ESPN. If the Rams beat the Cardinals on Sunday, they earn an NFC wild card berth. (The Rams will also get into the playoffs with a loss, if the Bears lose to the Packers.) The 25-year-old Wolford has never played in a regular-season game. He had a solid career at Wake Forest and signed as an undrafted rookie with the Jets in 2018, played well for the Arizona Hotshots of the Alliance of American Football in 2019, and has spent the last two years with the Rams. Small but athletic, Wolford has been declared to Doug Flutie, a quarterback who had a knack for making big plays in big games. The Rams will hope Wolford can do the same. NBC
I have a feeling this isnt going to go well for the Rams... I wish him luck, but talk about baptized with fire.
Don't the Bears have an outside shot at the playoffs with a win? Teams in that "win or go home" position can be dangerous. The Packers are playing for home field, the Bears are playing for their football lives.

Yes.........I think the Bears are going to win and make the playoff's.....and Chicago may turn some heads and go Deep. Which opens the Door for the Saints and Seahawks to get #1 and #2 seed.....Bye Week.
That's the only reason I'm paying attention to this game. I want the Saints spending the entire month of January sleeping in their own beds.
The Bears are a "win and your in" team. They can lose and still get in if tbe Cardinals lose. LA vs Cards is a HUGE game.........if the Bears lose and LA wins.....Rams are in.
But the Rams starting QB is out with a broken thumb. And the backup guy has no experience. No looking good for the Lambs.
