If we back into the playoffs, i.e. lose next week but still get in due to Cardinals loss, Pace might get extended. If we miss the playoffs, Pace is probably a lame duck in 2021.
Didn't watch the game, but looking at the box score - Patterson doesn't register a catch or a rushing attempt. Can that be right??? Can it be that they gave the ball to an actual RB, and not Patterson? I know they gave it to Kmet, so the usual Nagy f***ery, but no Patterson... Cool. I can't watch the games because I know winning means Pace and Nagy will be back, but I also can't root for them to lose... What is Nagy's defining trait that makes him worth holding onto, here? Failed play caller, failed at on-field personnel management, the team gets worse after timeouts and bye weeks, undisciplined team, can't beat real competition... What is there to see that keeps him here? Don't get me started on Pace, either. Edit - hard to enjoy a win against the worst team in the league. I'm not here trying to b****, just that the speculation Nagy will be back next year is not what I wanted to hear. I'm hoping it's just talking heads.
Garbage wins against garbage opponents. That’s been the last month and it has idiots on Twitter wanting to extend everyone and resign Mitch.
#99 really stood out this game, and not in a good way. Early on you could see him repeatedly getting beaten and chasing guys down from behind. Honestly at this point it seems unlikely. The GM should be making the decisions on the HC, and word is the HC will be retained? If they were going to jettison the GM, you'd think they'd remain quiet on this. Unless it's typical bullshit Bears, "hey, we're going to fire the GM and tell the new GM you have to keep this coach". So I probably would have felt like you had I not watched the game, but it's really hard not to get pumped watching your team put on a shellacking for the 3rd week in a row. This isn't like early in the season, where we were eeking out wins against subpar teams, we're CRUSHING subpar teams! I enjoyed the hell out of this game, not going to lie, even if the first half had me pretty wary that we were going to see the "same old shit" we have been. I mean a 3rd quarter where they put up 21 points?? As a seasoned Bears fan, I know all this is really doing is setting us up for some monumental disappointment next week. But as a Bears fan, knowing that we control our own destiny in the final game against our hated rivals? If there were ever a moment for this team to truly prove it to me, this would be it. Backups or no, take care of business assholes. The realist says it's a close game with the backups, and another whupping with the starters. But the homer in me is chomping at the bit to see this one. There's got to be a mental disorder that goes with this willful ignorance my brain so badly wants to convince myself of. At this point, we're already at the point that Nagy is not gone, and likely not Pace. Our draft position doesn't change. So lets win one. Hell, I'd actually love to see the Packers lose tonight and the Bears beat the starters next week to kill their first round bye, and then we play them AGAIN the next week and bounce them from the playoffs. Sure, I'm well into fantasy land and I would mind a million bucks and a supermodel right about now, but fuck it. Go Bears!
I know I’ll get accused of being negative but I’m 1000% certain we’re going to lose next week. Nothing that this QB, coach, collapsing defense has shown me this season proves they are capable of winning this game. PS I’m trying to cure myself of this mental disorder and I’m on the right track.
Listen, as I said, I know the reality here. But where I didn't watch the previous Packers game, I'm watching this one. To give credit where it's due, they conjured a scenario where I as a fan *must* watch this game. Now I'm having nightmares of Todd Collins for some reason. Fuck I even pointed this out weeks ago that there was a good chance we'd be here. Moreover, once the Seahawks won, the Packers were playing for something. Were the Packers to lose and the Seahawks win, they win out on tie breakers. Unless the Seahawks game also gets flexed, Green Bay has to play to win if they want the bye, no matter what. So this is doubly bad news. The Packers are for sure playing starters (at least until they put the Bears away), and it's a high stakes game for our old friend Mitch. And the Packers just soundly trounced the Titans. I also don't see anyway they win, short of a miracle, but goddamn it, if they did I would be a believer. So I'm going into this one cautious about the ass whupping we're about to receive, but optimistic that something can happen with nothing but pure hope. Pure fucking Bears fandom. I might hate myself. And if said miracle happens and the Bears beat the Hated, we would then see them again the next week in the playoffs.
I wish I could get this excited. I've seen too much of the bears scraping by the skins of their teeth and just plain sucking to think the Packers hanging another 40+ on this team couldn't happen. If Erin plays the whole game, and you struggled to get pressure on Mike Glennon with a back up left tackle left alone in many 1 on 1 passing situations--I don't know if we even need to have the discussion, unless you're brand new to watching football and you stupidly picked the bears as your team to root for. We all know what's coming. That being said--if the bears want to prove me wrong and hang another 30+ on a bad defense, by all means. But I fully expect the Packers D--like last year--to tell everybody they will make Mitch beat them by playing actual quarterback. The one hope I do have this year as opposed to last is how Lazor/Nagy since the Rams game have stolen part of their scheme. No, not the 11 man personnel, but the high-low WR concepts that have opened things up, including Monty running as a lone back. Its fucking egregious that these two cun_ts couldn't figure that out until after the Rams pantsed them. 99 is the reason the bears don't have a 4th round pick next year. Pace had to trade up in the 5th round with a division rival to get Trevis Gipson. Same. Again still don't know how Pace can be saved--you need a QB, you're stuck with Foles after masterfully extending him and giving him more money and he's 0-3 at picking them. I can live with Nagy to a point but it would literally just be him as a players' HC and no 1st round QB--give him a mid-rounder or a 2nd rounder who fell when the pundits/talking heads never thought he could. Chuckles has to go.
You're right. Of course I'll watch because I suffer from the mental illness you referred. I also didn't watch the previous Packers game, though the first half I was still driving home and when I checked the score on my phone I decided not to watch the second. Not only did we not sack Erin last time, we didn't get a single QB hit on him. We've scored 30+ points 4 games in a row, but the streak will end on Sunday. We all know the Packers have had many bad defenses over the years. What you may not realize is that as bad as their Ds have been, we haven't scored 30 points on them since 2007. Even in that game we scored 2 TDs on defense/special teams. The last time we scored 30 points on the Packers before 2007? 1993, when we scored 30 but 2 of our TDs came on pick 6s. In the last 28 years we've scored 30 or more points only 2 times against them, and in both games we had multiple defensive/special teams TDs. The moral of the story being we haven't had a great offensive game against GB in the last 30 FUCKING YEARS! Forget worrying about stopping Erin or Favre, our offense shits the bed every time we play those fucks.
