USA looked pretty good in the Finland tuneup. Knight let in 2 (one he could have had, probably should have had) while Wolf pitched the shutout in his half. One thing Belichick has always preached, internal competition is always a good thing and will only make your team stronger. Could be Wolf's net now and it would be understandable. Kirby Dach injury is unfortunate. That kid is a beast and was primed to steamroll this tourney. I hate when injury forces players out even if theyre not on "my team". I want to beat Canada and I want them to be fully loaded when they do. Easier said than done with or without Dach.
Havent read about it in a few days now, and not sure on updates, but Sweden's coaching staff was in quarantine and the team doc had to run practice. Germany hit hard by Covid but i believe Stuetzle is good to go. Finland always scary to take the gold. Aaskarov was weak last year, what's he bringing to the table this tourney?
I get my hatin’ on for Canada this time of year. (Only to rebound quickly by mid-January.) But I was really looking forward to the Dach & Cousins show; that might have been one of the best lines in WJC history. (Let’s not forget that Quinn is a first liner too.)
Germany was hit extremely hard, but all those quarantined have been released and have begun to practice... No other positive test's have been reported on players from other teams, last I read. From IIHF... -There are no positive cases among the nine other participating teams -From the tests conducted on game officials as well as IIHF, Local Organizing Committee, and broadcast personnel, there have been no positive cases reported For the first time since 2005, the World Junior Championship will begin on 25th December with three feature games, which includes the United States taking on Russia. All team staff and players as well as all on- and off-ice officials will continue to receive daily testing throughout the tournament. The Event Executive Committee has been receiving regular updates via the Event Medical Committee and will continue to review the testing results. “We welcome the German team into the World Junior Championship and thank them for their incredible cooperation and diligence in following the quarantine rules,” said the Event Executive Committee in a statement. “We will continue to rigorously adhere to our plan as we maintain a bubble environment where the primary focus is the health and safety of the community and the event participants.”
I want to beat Canada and I want them to be fully loaded when they do. Easier said than done with or without Dach. I get my hatin’ on for Canada this time of year. Merry Christmas to the TWO Scrooge's........lol Matty, I have seen Wolf play in net for the Silvertips vs the Giants and he is good and he could very well your # 1 G Dan, Canada is going to miss Dach for sure.......But we are a deep team and adversity has always made us a better team. ........My Predication and I agree with Matty.......Finland vs Canada for the Gold Medal and Russia takes the Bronze. ...........IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY......I'm so glad this year is coming to an end.......2020 was Brutal. ...............MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU AND STAY SAFE............
No doubt, Larry, that Canada remains a favorite for gold. But it is also true that they’ve taken a step down from prohibitive favorites for glory. As good as these young men are, how many have a year of NHL experience and is already fully man-sized? Dach and ...
Your right Dan.........Dach and NO ONE.........but watch out for Krebs and Zary both good player's and they will fill the Void of Dach. It is Christmas Day..........Merry Christmas my Friend and your probably getting ready for bed......I just put the Turkey in the Oven. Girlfriend and I are in our Bubble and I managed to buy a 5 KG Turkey.......Jezz is it ever small and it won't take long to cook.
I am zany about Zary. I think the Flames hit a homerun with that pick. Dach & Cozens had all the hallmarks of perhaps the most dynamic duo in the history of the WJC. Now, as a Sabres fan, I’d like to give Dylan equal billing. But the truth is that Dach was driving that line and Cozens happened to compliment him perfectly. Canada has an awesome group of F’s and some exceptional D. I think their G’s could be their Achilles heel. But Dach would outscored the other team. Enjoy your Christmas and be thankful for your health and happiness.
