But speaking of the man himself, ive seen some of the recent appointments to the new President's senior team. I didnt know Obama was running for a third term that whole time. What do you guys think of these appointments?
Most were exactly what I expected. Dems are gonna try to rewind the clock 4 years as much as they can. Which just shows they haven’t learned their lessons at all. Dems have a lot of the right ideas but suffer from headinassism.
As far as appointments to positions related to foreign policy are concerned, they would do very well not to try and rewind 4years. It never got as much press as it probably deserved but Obama was a foreign policy disaster on a number of fronts imo.
Yep. That and what happens at the justice department is forefront for me. Obama really molested the DOJ. As has Trump but Obama pushed envelopes no one ever had before and it opened doors. I’m worried how much further those things can be pushed.
Thats very interesting. What do you mean specifically? The appointment of loyalists to positions of importance? You say pushed things Trump didnt but wasnt Trump basically in abuse of power territory as it pertained to things like Comey etc?
Everything we saw with Trump were things Obama, and to a somewhat lesser extent, W said precedent for. Eric Holder was essentially Obama’s right hand man as Attorney General and head of the DOJ. He protected Obama and fought battles on his behalf....no different than what we’ve seen Barr do for Trump. NSA abuses and a lot of other things I would need more time than I currently have to type are some ways Obama pushed envelopes further than any President before him. Trump certainly abused power...but it’s easy to get away with when the guy before you set the precedent.
I wouldn't say "everything", but I would say that the comments on Holder and the NSA are very fair. I think the only dispute I'd have is that I don't think the Holder relationship was as bad as the Barr one, but otherwise I'd agree. I'm interested to see, with a country now so politically engaged, whether or not there's some extra accountability held of this administration. We will see.
Sums it up. Most of all, he refused to prosecute big financial institutions (Wells Fargo, JP Morgan, and Goldman Sachs most notably) using obvious predatory tactics (like when Wells Fargo opened a shit ton of credit card/banking accounts of people/deployed military personnel who never signed up for them in the name of making numbers or the housing bubble crisis where they stripped the Fannie May bill of the voucher that helped people get homes, leading to banks preying on someone making 30K a year trying to get a house they couldn't afford). Instead, each paid a meager fine because they were 'too big to jail' and Holder called it "collateral consequences of doing business." Republicans and shitlibs came together and LOVED him for that one behind closed doors because everybody's retirement/re-election funds got bigger and their schedules to vote got a lot easier when they didn't show up. Meanwhile, actual first world countries put the predatory bankers in jail while reinvesting in/paying restitution to their citizens. Justice being blind AND competence? What nominal fucking concepts... And before Obama, Bush enacted 'Fast and Furious' among a few other policies which talking heads turned around and blamed him/Holder for it, hoping that their viewers would be too lazy to use google or wikipedia--because most Fox viewers don't when clowns like Hannity/Ingram/Bolling/Gutfeld all sound so solemnly righteous (and full of shit). That led to Harry Reid changing senate rules on voting. Which led to McConnell being the anti-American, China loving douche he is. And round and round the vicious cycle goes...
Are you referring here to the replacement of the supermajority with the nuclear option? That has sure come back to bite the Dems.
I saw one guy charged with that. You say vast majority. Did you even look at that site ? Bank fraud, wire fraud, welfare/food stamp fraud. Possession conspiracy to distribute pot/cocaine. Meth labs. The list goes on and on. I think I just did. And besides, even if I did give you a couple of examples, you'd just ignore it or chance the subject. And who would you rather live next door to. A disgraced general or a bunch of these guys on Obamas list ?
No but, as usual, you have a problem with comprehension.....the post you’re replying to wasn’t directed at you. Unless you and Volcano(e)s are the same person now. Maybe sharing the same brain? You could have chose better.
