In week 10, the Steelers defeated the Bengals at Heinz Field. Now the Steelers travel to TIAA Bank Field to play the Jaguars.

    For the Steelers to win:
The Steelers need to play a complete game (Offense, Defense, Special Teams for 60 min.).
The Steelers defense needs to pressure rookie QB Jake Luton.
The Steelers defense needs to shut down the Jaguars running game. Mike Hilton's return plus Tyson Alualu should help this greatly.
The Steelers need to run the ball effectively (James Conner, Benny Snell Jr., and Anthony McFarland Jr.).
Ben Roethlisberger needs to play well - getting the ball out quickly.
The Steelers need to score TDs when in the red zone (and when not).
Chris Boswell needs to play well - like he did in 2019.
The Steelers need to protect the ball. They need to win the turnover battle.
Alejandro Villanueva, Matt Feiler, Maurkice Pouncey, David DeCastro, and Chukwuma Okorafor need to play well as a unit.

    From Steelers Depot:
Steelers Versus Jaguars Week 11 Projected Inactive List

QB Joshua Dobbs – Dobbs remains the third-string backup quarterback to starter Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph going into the team’s Week 11 game and that’s not a bit surprising. Barring any injuries, Dobbs is likely to remain the Steelers third quarterback the remainder of the season so that means he will likely remain a mainstay on the team’s game-day inactive list in 2020. Dobbs has already been inactive nine times this season and his tenth time should happen on Sunday against the Jaguars.

RB Trey Edmunds – Edmunds injured his hamstring in the Steelers week 10 win against the Cincinnati Bengals and after failing o practice all week, he was finally ruled out for the Week 11 road game against the Jaguars on the team’s injury report. Edmunds being inactive isn’t a huge deal as he’s played just a handful of offensive snaps to date. He’s also yet to make any real impact on special teams in the games that he’s dressed for. He’s essentially the 52nd or 53rd player on the Steelers roster right now and thus he might be waived at some point moving forward if the team needs a roster spot. For now, however, Edmunds will be on the Steelers inactive list for the first time this season on Sunday.

RB Jaylen Samuels – Samuels, who has dressed for every game this season so far, will be inactive on Sunday against the Jaguars after being officially ruled out for the Sunday afternoon road contest on the team’s Friday injury report. Samuels landed on the injury report this week because of a quadricep problem he sustained sometime during the team’s home game last Sunday against the Bengals. The injury prevented him from practicing all week. With Samuels and Edmunds both guaranteed to be inactive on Sunday in Jacksonville, rookie running back Anthony McFarland Jr. will get a helmet after sitting out the game last Sunday with an illness.

OLB Jayrone Elliott – Elliott, like Edmunds and Samuels, failed to practice all week and it resulted in him being officially ruled out for Sundays game against the Jaguars. Elliott is listed as having an illness. He has yet to play a defensive snap this season as he’s only been used as a special teams player and an emergency fifth outside linebacker.

DE Isaiah Buggs – The Steelers got defensive tackle Tyson Alualu back from his knee injury last Sunday against the Bengals and they activated defensive end Chris Wormley off IR on Saturday. Buggs, on the other hand, missed the Week 10 game last Sunday with an ankle injury and that resulted in rookie defensive tackle Carlos Davis dressing for a second consecutive game. Davis, by the way, has played well in his limited snaps in the last two games. With Buggs now presumably healthy, it will be interesting to see if he is chosen to sit out again this week in lieu of Davis. It seems like the decision will come down to one of the two sitting out on Sunday and I’ll guess that Buggs is the one chosen to be inactive. If that’s what ultimately happens, Buggs could wind up being a weekly inactive moving forward barring injuries on the defensive line.

    Keys to the game:

Missi Matthews: Get after Jaguars Rookie Quarterback.
Arthur Moats: Contain the Jaguars two Wide Receivers - DJ Chark Jr. and Keelan Cole r..
Matt Williamsom: Don't let the Jaguars get up on you (i.e. get out to a lead).

17-3 with the ball first in the 2nd half. So far.......so good.

Okay, it's been mostly a good game so far and Pittsburgh is in charge. However, this is the second game where Ben has done this right before halftime. He did the same thing in the Ravens game. The Steelers get a gift possession right before halftime. They have a (pretty much) guaranteed FG but Ben has to force a pass into tight multiple coverage because he Needs that touchdown. Damnit, Ben. If it's not an insanely wide-open easy TD, just throw the damn ball away and go into the locker room up 20-3. 20-3 is almost insurmountable for this Jaguars team; 17-3 is not. Grrrrrrr!

Question for those of you who coach football and maybe have more insight than I do-- Why are the Steelers so consistently bad at running to the outside? It feels like almost every time the Steelers run a stretch play to the outside, the other team is right there to stuff the play for a loss. However, when other teams run this play against the Steelers, there seems to be at least a 50-50 chance that it succeeds for a good gain. Either the Steelers are exceptionally bad at blocking this play, or they are telegraphing it so that the other team is always ready for it. Can anyone provide insight here?

Oh my goodness. I can't believe it-- my perfect scenario is playing out. I wanted the Steelers to be in control and have an easy win, and I wanted the Titans/Ravens game to be a tough physical game that goes to overtime. And here we are, the Steelers have won handily and the Ravens are in overtime. Let's get those Ravens worn down and beaten up going into a short week.

My guess is that Conner shouldn’t bounce it outside. He’s a downhill runner for the most part. He did have a couple great gains outside today. I hope McFarland can grow into that outside speed threat.

It's not just Conner. Even when they're using a WR sweep, and he runs outside, the other team's defense is right there to consistently blow it up.

NC, you are right they are struggling to open things up outside. Crazy too cause their WR block. JuJu reminds me of Hines. I know the oline is better at pass pro the run blocking but just don’t know where things break down. Maybe it’s the lack of blocking TE’s.
