Monday Morning Thoughts (I'll try to keep the cursing to a minimum)

I was fucking lying when I said I wasn't gonna fucking curse. Fuck these assholes.

    - Foles was absolute trash. Took sacks you can't take. Threw fucking awful interceptions. Had quite a few other had scratching throws while exhibiting some really piss poor mechanics.

    - Oline was trash but it wasn't why they lost. Foles had time when he needed time. At other times he felt pressure that wasn't there. Leno was really bad...after Massie went down Spriggs was exactly what you expect a backup to be. I didn't see anything from Mustipher that really made me worry. Honestly I think I saw enough from Mustipher that if Whitehair comes back you move Mustipher to guard....or move Whitehair to guard and send Coward to the unemployment line.

    - Is Wims cut yet? He should be. Completely unacceptable, bitch move. What the Saints player did the play before to Anthony Miller was also unacceptable...but you know how to get revenge? Score. Bullshit cheap shot punches have no place in this game. The team completely lost any composure they had at that point.

    - I'll say it again....this defense isn't great. It's good. They will absolutely keep you in games. They had 3 drives yesterday where the Saints started from the 50 or much better and they gave up 6 points.

    - The lack of sacks and turnovers is troubling though. The chances were there and they failed to delivered. They cannot afford to not deliver. Sorry that everything rides on your shoulders boys...but it does.

    - Windows don't typically last long in the NFL. The Bears defense has been top notch for a few seasons now and that window will probably begin to close in 1-2 years. And this team will have done nothing with it because of a trash coach and a laughable offense.

    - Buck and Aikman were literally trolling the Bears live on the air, multiple times. I wanted to get pissed...but nothing they said was false.

    - Buster Skrine needs to go. You can't tell me you can't find a more capable nickel corner. The guy is shit.

    - Jackson and Gipson didn't have good games at all. Gipson looked to always be in the wrong place. Just bad. EJax can't afford bad games if he wants everyone to consider him an All Pro. He's always chirping about QBs not throwing the ball his way. Well...Brees did. And what did you do about it? Pretty much nothing.

    - This team chirps too much. The defense can at least back it up at times. Why do I see offensive players chirping? Shut the fuck up. You're a joke in this league.

    - Allen Robinson looks frustrated. I don't think he's a Bear next season and that sucks. Dude is a legit #1 receiver in this league and he plays hard.

    - Darnell Mooney is for real. How did someone that can run routes like him drop to the 5th round? His routes are crisp. His hands are good.

    - Saw people on Twitter dogging Kmet. Why? Fumbles happen and the kid has barely been used. He can play...we just have to use him right.

    - Refs were dogshit yesterday. The drop by Monty that they somehow thought was a fumble. A horseshit PI on Fuller. A truly terrible forward motion call on that fumble at the end. Officiating in this league is just a sad joke.

    - I don't have many words for Nagy. Choke a dick. That's about all.

    - Titans next week. I will be at the game since it takes place just a few hundred feet from my backyard. I remember a time when I looked forward to going to games. As a kid I got a stomach ache from the excitement beforehand. Right now I have a stomach ache because I know the Bears will get run over.

    - Rob was right on the game thread. If Foles is gonna be this bad there's no reason not to play Mitch. Wanna know what's sad? I think we win the game with Mitch yesterday because I think his ability to scramble would have spread the Saints out a little and opened up passing lanes. Or maybe he would have thrown 4 picks. Who knows?

    - Final words...fuck you Virginia McCaskey. Die or sell the team bitch.

    Fun fact:

Under Nagy the Bears have caled a run to a RB on 3rd and 7-10 yards to go 3 times as head coach.

After yesterday they are 2 for 13 in those situations.

From a coach that says he "self scouts" all the time.

  3. BearsWillWin Drunk (Probably) Patreon Champion Manager Bears Blackhawks Cubs

    Or and...

I am fucking tired of seeing this team give up big yardage on 3rd and long.

    3rd and 13....give up 12.

    3rd and 11....give up 10.

Every week this happens. Every fucking week.

It's mathematically impossible to be so bad in just 1 of 3 quarters.

Bears haven't scored in the 3rd quarter in 7 out of 8 games.

How the fuck is that even possible? You can't even manage a flipping field goal.

There was so much to hate about Foles yesterday. But for me, the complete lack of urgency on the final drive of regulation. When that drive began, his mind was made up that we were going for the FG. There was not a thought, not the slightest indication that he wanted a TD, even though that would have won the game. We had nearly 2 minutes on the clock and 2 time outs to work with. We had already run successful plays deep over the middle. Not sure if this mentality was s a lack of confidence in himself, his teammates, or the play calling. But it was a disgusting display of the loser mentality that this organization had under Lovie and Fox.

This game is about matchups. Foles should start against stupid crappy defenses, think Lions and Falcons. He can light them up and any shortcomings he has (zero mobility, low speed throws, methodical to a fault at the LOS) will be negated by the stupidity of the defense he's up against. Trubisky or Bray should start against everyone else. Why? Because 1) Foles can't beat good defenses unless they beat themselves (think Bucs game) so we have nothing to lose with him not starting those games and 2) at least Trubisky gives us the running athletic element that really would have come in handy yesterday against a disciplined team. We now know for a fact that Nagy isn't going to get the best out of Foles, certainly not in a tough matchup.

Have Foles start against the Lions, Jags and Texans. Have Trubisky (or Bray) start against the Packers, Vikings, and Titans.

Somebody on Twitter was able to figure out what happened here. The Saints player pulled Wim’s mouthpiece off and threw it on the floor. Then Wims was subbed out. Next play Wims was on the field(after a Saints possession) he retaliated by trying to pull a mouthpiece that wasn’t there then throwing haymakers. I agree cut his ass. Briggs in his 10 things article actually pointed out that the Bears offense did better once he was removed. By removing himself from the game it made it impossible for Nagy to keep rotating him in unnecessarily like he has been doing. Now how do we do the same with Patterson?

Loses like this suck. I would have rather lost in regulation handily instead of investing time into the shit effort in OT. New Orleans gave you plenty of chances to win the ball game too, and you just caved. This loss feels like the bears tried extra hard to show the world who they are. They succeeded. They are a team who has several really good individual players. They suck as a team.

A makeshift OLine played average. Foles had some clean pockets and some busted plays. I like Mustipher and Spriggs going forward as starters. Spriggs had 1-2 really bad plays like letting up a sack on a blitz and getting pantsed by a DLineman. But, with the sad state of the team, Pace showing he wont get a bonafide starter on the Oline, I'll take him over Leno or Massie. Don't care where. Ifedi was surprisingly okay.

Rashad Coward is just pathetic to watch. Then remember he's never played left guard. The entire left side of the Oline was for most of the game.

I must have missed the part in Robert Quinn's contract that gives him weekends off. Must be nice.

I too saw ARob moving away from the Offensive huddle of players to go to the 30 to yell at nobody. I see this as chaotic good and bad. Bad because Arob is only staying if he's franchise tagged.

Chaotic good because in weeks past I've remarked on Nagy the playcaller (bad) versus Nagy the coach (good because players play for him). Are the cracks starting to show with Nagy the coach? We'll need to see more unravel. Nagy smoothed over Brian Griese's comments with Foles last week. But, that was one element. Then Wims. Then Arob. It wont sink by this weekend but water's getting in. But. You are at home with the lead going into the 3rd. Things are set up right enough (should have been 17-10), Patterson returns 9 yards. Then nothing. Then Leno got pantsed. Then Patterson went offside. Then New Orleans ties the game before Javon Wims. Decent teams don't get in their own way.

Penalties are mounting. The 2nd half was so shitty...

Speaking of--Cut Javon Wims. What a dickhead. I do want to know what was said to spur that. Some people think Miller getting poked in the eye--but someone on Twitter named @evansaacks saw Gardner Johnson rip out his mouthpiece on the opening drive the play just before the delay of game then sack. Ifedi picked up the mouthpiece--which Buck/Aikman pointed out. Wims subbed out/on the sidelines for 11 minutes. New Orleans tied the game. The first play of the next drive--he goes to Gardner Johnson and tries to retaliate. I don't think that was "spur of the moment." I can't say how really dumb that is.

Remember--Gardner Johnson is an instigator. Last year he was mocking Tarik Cohen for being a midget. He pisses off everyone he goes against (but sucks).

Nagy just this morning said "that isn't what the team represents, what the organization represents, its not how his team does things." I haven't seen the cut tweet yet...

    More Darnell Mooney.

Did you really need to see Mitch Trubisky try to be Taysom Hill to know it wont ever work?

Back to Nagy. What bugs the shit out of me is that with this guy's scheme, every last of the 11 guys need to be perfect for the play to work which is statistically stupid. The fact that the blocking, the chosen/Reid system QB's talent/decision makings, and the playcalling is never on the same page unless its perfect. Go back to the Cordarrelle Patterson sweep on 4th down last week that didn't work. Leno, Coward, Whitehair, Robinson, and Wims had to be perfect. Not 2/5. Not 4/5. Not 3/5. All of them. You then saw how they weren't. Then you saw Patterson get stuffed. You see it on most every Monty run when he's getting blasted in the backfield. Every play is a high risk play and it just isn't working. This is the only way I can try to explain Nagy's vision of the offense. We've waited long enough for the offense to break through and in year 3--and they can't. I don't know what this team is building for.

Little things from Nick Foles piss me off. I know what he is and what he isn't. But, Drew Brees is no athlete. His 'oh shit' clock is immaculate. I don't get why Foles refuses to step up/slide in the pocket to give himself more time, instead he leans back and puts up a Shitwad back-foot throw that doesn't work (never out of bounds which baffles me because the jobs is his because he wasn't making dumb mistakes Mitch did) because he doesn't have the cannon that Shitwad did. Mack late in the game beasted the RG/RT double and got an arm on Brees but Brees stepped up, avoided it, and made a big throw. Bilal Nichols missed a sack doing that too.

Even more with Foles--the sequence in the 1st half where his helmet lost the mic and he looked lost. This is the Andy Reid QB you went out and got for your Andy Reid system! This is the guy you benched Mitch for because he knows what he's doing.

I once again found myself looking for the #1 draft pick of 2020 and didn't see him enough. Seeing Cole Kmet on the sidelines and you're in the red zone. Fucking criminal. I have no words for that. You picked the best TE in the draft and you don't play him. And while the refs were dogshit--they got the Kmet 'forward progress' play right. Because he caught the 2 yard special, got wrapped up/stood up by DeMario Dvais, then pushed back to the LOS where he loses the ball. That's the textbook definition of forward progress. If he doesn't fumble--where does that play wind up? Same spot. Davis was tackling high on a guy bigger than he was.

Dwayne Harris is just fine at punt returner. Can he return kicks? Cap next year probably wont keep Patterson.

ILBs had a game. Roquan was a man possessed and Trevathan had lateral speed and pursuit I haven't seen since last year.

Kyle Fuller may be the most underrated player in the NFL. Dude makes less than 9 "top" CBs and never gets smacked around, and he fucking Jedi mind tricked refs to draw flags for things he shouldn't have got. He's never got burned like Mooney did to Jaylen Ramsey last week. He makes plays. And usually when he gives up catches? The play starts where he's 8+ yards off the line and he gives up some medium gain.

Which leads me to Chuckles. You should be able to count on Mack/Quinn to get home, but when they're not--and Nichols/Hicks/RRH/Edwards aren't a factor--you have to sack Brees. Would have liked to see Noquan blitzing an A gap.

I felt great for most of the game because I didn't see Buster Skrine. Then I did. Then I didn't feel great. Is it so damned hard to play the ball? The guy just watches the receiver make a catch, makes no play on the ball--then tries to tackle afterwards. Sometimes he can tackle the guy--and I cannot stress enough that this shouldn't be the fucking positive--because most times he whiffs. Callahan gave up plays. He was short too. But he was physical with every slot WR, and he could be better than the WR and get a turnover. I'll take someone trying to do that even if they fail.

Hey, at least we have a kicker.

    * I don't know whats more embarrassing, that a Bears player is such a cheap shot bitch, or that he fights like a 3rd grader in his first dustup.

Yes, Gardner-Johnson is a wannabe Cortland Finnegan douchbag of a player. I bet his own team mates dont like his punk ass. And yes he was asking to get got, but you absolutely don't do it like that. You smash him between the whistles every chance you get, sure. Block the fucker into the 8th row, put your shoulder through him anytime he gets anywhere near the ball. Take his mouthpiece, whatever, but you do not do what Wims did.

And i totally agree with pat, that was premeditated. He thought about it on the sidelines, thought fuck the team, and did him. I loved Ifedi telling Wims to get TF off the field when he started flexing like some kind of badass. I think Wims is gonna come to regret that decision for the rest of his life, but it was his choice. Cut him.

    * Foles played pretty crap its true. But its very clear to see that he has lost all faith in his O-Line. Think back to Foles in the playoffs. Time after time the dude would hang in there and deliver the ball knowing he would get smashed. He did it against Atlanta too. Foles will put his body on the line he's proven that. But he's a man of faith guys and the faith in his blockers has gone. Numerous throws while backpeddling, increasingly locking on to his first read, increasingly just looking to get the ball out his hands. Remember how we complemented him for hanging in there and going thru his progs and taking shots against the Falcons? Thats gone. His OL is in his head.

Personally i dont need to ever see Mitch starting another game again. I know fully what he is. But truthfully i dont think either he or Foles is gonna succeed behind this line. Mitch can scramble more and get some yards? Sure. He also can read a defense for shit. I would stick with Foles, but i cant imagine why any of us would plant a flag at this point heh.

    * Oh and its not just Foles who's lost faith in this line, Monty has too. People have been noting for weeks that he's dancing to the line more and more and its true. His focus is on slipping the first tackle behind the LOS not getting to the line and picking his hole. I was glad he got some yards yesterday.

Oh and 1 more thing i wanted to say. I now have Ryan Pace as 0-4 with QB's. And to spell out just how bad the failure really is, of those 4 Cutler is BY FAR his best decision!

I never thought i would ever say that but there it is.

Pace cannot be allowed to pick the next QB. If George really is stupid enough to let that happen then im gonna crack. Id have to boycott for my own sanity.

At the end of the day, it was pretty harmless. The only thing he hurt was probably his own hand. Certainly not a good look, but I hope they don't come down too hard on him for that. It would have been perfect and justified if he had just ripped the dude's mouthpiece off, stomped on it, and walked away, but he really let his temper get the best of him. It was sort of amusing after the original sucker punch (or open handed whatever) when he immediately took a step or two back expecting retaliation.

That was crazy. At least he didn't rip the guys helmet off and swing it at him...Could've been worse.

He should be cut. Coaches need to send a message that selfishness and stupidity of that kind will not be tolerated. If Wims had good reason to beat his ass, he should have waited till after the game to settle things.

Now will they activate Ginn or Ridley in that spot? My money's on Ginn, cuz that's the dumbest decision possible.

    Yep! Next
100% correct. Don't overthink it, you can rest easy knowing that the wrong decision will be made.
The Bears should instead make it a lifetime suspension, and probably will.
It's more probable than activating Ridley over Ginn.

Rant time? Why the fuck not.

    * Wims should be cut, he sucks anyway and they should send a message that this kind of crap should not be tolerated. The Bears are not usually the laughing stock "some idiot took off his skate and tried to stab another player" type of team.

    * If Riley Ridley isn't activated, might as well cut his ass too because the coaches sure as shit aren't going to use him.

    * Foles sucks. Yeah, it might be in his head because the line also sucks, but dude needs to play better.

    * Mitch sucks. Anyone arguing to put him back in should really fucking think about that. Short of injury Mitch isn't coming back, because they've already declined his 5th year option. They are done with him and he's not the future. Foles is the bridge to the next QB.

    * Nagy sucks. The "Mitch Hill" play was maybe the dumbest thing I had ever seen, until Wims one upped him in the same game. There is a *massive* talent difference between the Saints and the Bears. The biggest difference though is that the Payton tries to maximize what his guys are good at. Nagy, is one in a LONG fucking line of cramming the players to fit the system, and not adjusting the system to the players you have. That's assuming Nagy's take on the system is even any good.

    * Pace sucks. Nothing specific for this game, just wanted to say it.

    * Ownership sucks. We have sucked outside of a Lovie Smith led 2006 run, since Papa Bear passed. That's not a coincidence.

    * The defense....is pretty good. Yeah, they have their problems, which really shows how they are not elite by any stretch. And they are not getting the sacks or turnovers, especially when they had so many opportunities. They're also not getting themselves off the field. But compared to around the league and particularly the other side of the ball for the Bears? It's the *last* thing we should be complaining about.

    * 5-3 is a far cry from 5-1. The offense from our "Offensive Genius" Nagy is near bottom in the league, and the Defense, while good, is not epically good to overcome this shit storm.

    * Also, I'm sure you guys mentioned this, but it bears repeating, what in the fuck is Nagy doing calling a timeout before the half with 30 seconds left? You're really expecting to get the ball back and DO SOMETHING with it? Fuck you. If they punted that ball you aren't taking a big shot down the field, don't lie. It ended up not mattering, because they didn't use the timeout, but it kept their playbook open to attack the middle of the field because they still have the TO. Just fucking stupid, stupid, stupid.

    * 4th and 5, our offense sucks, we're down by 3 with all of the 4th quarter left. Aikman though this was a "must go for it" situation, I was pretty fucking skeptical myself. The offense hasn't done shit and we're only down 3. And they ended up not converting to boot (the int had it happened would have been much BETTER for the Bears because it'd have been closer to a punt). We're down THREE POINTS. It's 5 fucking yards! This isn't 4th and 1. What are Nagy's odds of converting that? That directly led to the Saints marching down the field for a fucking TD when they got the ball at midfield. Just goddamn stupid.
