Guys, I don't know about y'all, but I'm starting to think our defense is going to be a problem. Drops killed the offense yesterday, but man... we couldn't get off the field to save our lives on defense. Pretty sure Las Vegas went 15/7 on third down conversions.
Credit the Raiders. They played keep away all day. It was frustrating and boring and when we did have chances, we couldn't make plays against the 31st ranked defense. Not good. And the topper: Myles Garrett suffers knee injury. MRI today.
Credit to Baltimore and Pittsburgh, sure. They've been kicking our teeth in for decades now. Las Vegas is an average (definitely beneath the Browns), west coast team who came into our house and pushed us around on a 40 degree (with hail) day. That's an awful look. I understand Joe Woods doesn't have the horses he needs to run the defense effectively, but that side of the ball has been pathetic all season. Mayfield and the offense are used to averaging four scores a game... that dropped to two field goals on a day where they were without their best offensive weapons (Chubb, Beckham) and the rest of his supporting staff had the dropsies. To be one of those elite teams, Cleveland's got to start beating the teams they should and Las Vegas was just that. Sure, it's greedy to want to be 6-2 going into the BYE, and 5-3 is still much better (at least than we're used to), but that was an uninspired, painful game to watch.
I take full responsibility. Yesterday was the first time this season that I bet on the Browns. smh. Apologies. Probably won't happen again.
No excuses for our lackluster effort, but what is it with the officiating when these two teams get together? I understand them taking away Landry's TD, that looked like a good call to me. But when the exact same thing happened to Hunter Renfroe, for some reason his TD got to stand for the Raiders. Whatever. I realize that we were terrible yesterday and seemed destined for the L regardless, but that was some BS.
I'm scratching my head on the recent rash of drops from Jarvis Landry .....Two huge drops yesterday really hurt the Browns when we needed him the most. Both were perfectly placed passes from Bake btw.
