Seeing those cards is so nostalgic. I was only 10 in 1978 and just really getting into NFL football.

I was in my early 20's (78) Dirk and had been an NFL Fan since 1960......I chose the Houston Oilers as my Team because I loved their Logo and they won the AFL Championship........and the Game was on TV.........we had a 21 inch B&W Motorola.....and I have been a Fan Since and I have Hated the Steelers since......LOL

Yes that is right......the AFL NFL merger did not happen till 1970.

Gidi I always found it odd that the Steelers and Oilers were in the same division.....I understood Pittsburgh in the Central ....BUT Houston.

WTF they are in the Deep South........and the Steelers were always in Last Place in the old AFL days......lol

  5. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

So were the Browns. My family moved to Ohio from Connecticut in 1952. As such, Everyone in my family was a Giants fan including my father. He bought his first television (a 9 inch round screen Emerson) when we got to Ohio so he could watch the Giants' games on TV. Little did he know that, in those days, he could only get what the Cleveland stations were broadcasting. And that is when I became a Browns fan.

Great story Lyman......I'm willing to bet Jim Brown was your Favourite Player......in the 50's Cleveland won everything.

They were a GREAT Team......and # 32 was the Best IMO.......and before Earl Campbell......albeit Brown thought about a comeback with The Raiders.

That is so awesome!! My phone is just a little smaller than that. LOL.
1 other good thing about the game yesterday was I got a lot of stuff picked up during commercials in the 4th quarter. My wife can tell how close the games are by what I do during breaks.

  9. dirk275 Franchise Player Steelers

I'm a Green Bay resident since childhood but my dad's family is from Monroeville PA. He was a Steeler's fan all his life. My dad and I rarely got along(I struggled with tbe western Penn style harsh parenting) but we both loved the Steelers.

He died in 08 and the Steelers won it all that year. My mom was almost in tears after the Holmes catch because my dad wasn't there to see it.
