The full extent of DeSean Jackson's ankle injury has been learned. Jackson is expected to be out 6-8 weeks with a non-displaced fracture in his ankle, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports. The thirteen-year veteran is frustrated but highly motivated to get back not only this year but the next, Garafolo adds. The injury is similar to the one sustained by Eagles teammate Dallas Goedert, which adds to the coincidental theme of ailing pass-catchers in Philadelphia this season. Jackson, 33, looked promising upon his return from injury on Thursday night. He was involved early and often, but an awkward tackle had his leg twisted beneath his body during a fourth-quarter punt return. Jackson was visibly frustrated as he exited the field with the help of the training staff. An MRI the next day confirmed the seriousness of the ankle injury and Jackson was then placed on injured reserve. NFL.com
Report: Packers plan to sit Aaron Jones vs. Texans Packers running back Aaron Jones said Friday he was “confident” he could play through a calf strain. The Packers, though, aren’t expected to push Jones. That’s the word from Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette who reports that the team’s “plan is for Jones to not play” Sunday against the Texans. The Packers promoted running back Dexter Williams from the practice squad Saturday as cover in case Jones can’t go. Jones did make the trip with the team to Houston. Jamaal Williams and AJ Dillon would take on the bulk of the work without Jones. Williams has 46 touches for 261 touches this season, and Dillon, the team’s 2020 second-round choice, has 13 touches for 65 yards. Jones, of course, has served as the workhorse this season with 93 touches for 550 yards and seven total touchdowns. NBC
Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is officially listed as questionable, but he should be good to go tonight against the Seahawks. Hopkins is expected to play tonight through his ankle injury, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Although the ankle has been bothering him for a couple weeks, it hasn’t stopped Hopkins from being the league leader in catches (47) and receiving yards (601). It’s a very big game for the 4-2 Cardinals, who don’t want the 5-0 Seahawks to be able to put any more distance between them in the NFC West. NBC
Bostic just nailed Dalton in the head and knocked him out of the game. Rookie from James Madison, Dunucci in for Dallas at quarterback. The hit from Bostic was so dirty, Washington players couldnt believe it.

Sunday Night Football: Cardinals knock off Seahawks in overtime thriller The Cardinals twice trailed by 13 points. They scored 10 points in the final 2:28 of regulation just to get to overtime. They missed a game-winning field goal in overtime. They then won it with a game-winning field goal in overtime. It was an improbable 37-34 overtime victory for the Cardinals over the Seahawks. It was Seattle’s first loss after five victories to start the season. The Cardinals, who were 5-10-1 last season, moved to 5-2 with their third consecutive win. Zane Gonzalez kicked a 44-yard field goal on the final play of the fourth quarter to send it to overtime. A 41-yarder was wide left with 2:42 remaining in overtime, which would have given the Cardinals the victory after Seattle punted on its first possession of overtime. He got another chance with 20 seconds left in the extra period and nailed the 48-yarder. It was the first time the Cardinals led. The Seahawks thought they had the game won more than once, including in overtime when DK Metcalf scored on a 48-yard touchdown on third-and-10. But officials penalized receiver David Moore for an obvious hold on Kevin Peterson to spring Metcalf. Rookie Isaiah Simmons intercepted Wilson on the next play and returned it 12 yards to the Seattle 49. That set up the Cardinals’ game-winning, six-play, 19-yard drive. The Cardinal got to overtime on a 8-yard touchdown catch by Christian Kirk with 2:28 left in regulation and, after Arizona got the ball back with 52 seconds left, Gonzalez made the tying kick on the final play of regulation. Kirk’s touchdown — his second of the game — came two plays after Seahawks defensive lineman Benson Mayowa was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct for trying to gain leverage on Gonzalez’s 52-yard field goal. The Cardinals took the points off the board and got the touchdown, leaving them in need of only a field goal to tie it on the last play of regulation. Kyler Murray finished 34-of-48 for 360 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. He also ran for 67 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. DeAndre Hopkins caught 10 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown, and Kirk had five receptions for 37 yards and two scores. Chase Edmonds, getting more playing time after Kenyan Drake was carted off with an ankle injury, had five carries for 58 yards and caught seven passes for 87 yards. The Cardinals gained 519 yards. The Seahawks gained 572 yards as Russell Wilson threw for 388 yards and Tyler Lockett had his second three-touchdown game in four games. But Wilson also threw three interceptions. Wilson has 22 touchdown passes, tying Peyton Manning for the most through six games. Manning finished with 55 touchdowns that season. Wilson also ran for 84 yards on six carries. Lockett caught 15 passes for 200 yards and touchdowns of 3, 47 and 3 yards. Lockett had a three-touchdown game against the Cowboys in Week 3, catching nine passes for 100 yards. That was his only 100-yard game this season before Sunday night. Lockett has seven touchdowns this season. NBC
Justin Herbert has big game as Chargers top Jaguars Justin Herbert continues to look like the right franchise quarterback from the Chargers. Herbert turned in another big game today, throwing for 347 yards and three touchdowns, and also leading the team in rushing and scoring a rushing touchdown, as the Chargers beat the Jaguars 39-29. Herbert’s favorite receiver was Keenan Allen, who had 10 catches for 125 yards, but Herbert spread the ball around to eight receivers in all and appeared to be in total command of the offense. The Chargers have the young quarterback they need. The Jaguars may not have the rookie quarterback they need, although Gardner Minshew played well enough not to get benched, as he was reportedly in danger of being. Minshew isn’t the same kind of young talent as Herbert, but he’s a serviceable enough player that the Jaguars ought to keep him in the starting lineup. Jacksonville also has a promising young player in running back James Robinson, an undrafted rookie from Illinois State who continues to show that you don’t have to draft a running back to find a good one. Robinson topped 100 rushing yards and helped the Jaguars stay in the game. In the end, however, the Chargers were simply a better team. They improved to 2-4, while the Jaguars fell to 1-6. NBC
The Pittsburgh Steelers are now considered SB contenders in my book. I was still waiting for something to sway me one way or another and the win against the Titans solidified my opinion. Good offensively and good defense... stay healthy and they could go a long way. signed; Captain Obvious!
Chris Carson to have MRI on sprained foot Seahawks running back Chris Carson wasn’t around for overtime on Sunday night because of a foot injury that knocked him out of the game in the first half. Head coach Pete Carroll offered an update on Carson’s condition after the game. He said Carson has a mid-foot sprain and that testing on Monday will provide more information about what that will mean moving forward. “We don’t know until we get an MRI what that means or what the extent of it is,” Carroll said, via Adam Jude of the Seattle Times. Carson ran five times for 34 yards before getting hurt. Carlos Hyde had 15 carries for 68 yards and a touchdown to lead the team’s running backs in Carson’s absence. NBC
Odell Beckham has torn ACL The news on Browns receiver Odell Beckham‘s knee injury is as bad as feared. Beckham told Josina Anderson that his ACL is torn and his season is over. That’s a devastating injury for Beckham, who will now begin a long process of rehabilitating and hoping he can be back on the field when the 2021 NFL season starts. It’s also a major disappointment for the Browns, who thought when they traded for Beckham last year that they were getting the best wide receiver in football, but have so far seen him fall short of expectations and now are seeing him deal with a major injury. At 5-2 the Browns are in very good shape to compete for a playoff berth, but losing Beckham hurts. NBC
Stephen Jones: I know Mike McCarthy’s the right guy for the job The Cowboys’ blowout loss in Week 6 was followed by criticism from anonymous players of head coach Mike McCarthy and the rest of the coaching staff that was decried on record by many members of the organization. That show of unity didn’t lead to a better performance on the field against Washington. The Cowboys lost 25-3 to fall to 2-5 on the season, but neither the back-to-back routs nor the overall record have soured executive vice president Stephen Jones on McCarthy. “I know we’ve got the right head guy for the job, and it’s a work in progress. . . . These things just take time,” Jones said. “I know our fans are frustrated. We certainly understand the criticism that’s come our way. But we’ve got to go to work. . . . It’s the first year with this group. You know Jerry and I are big believers in sticking with the staff. We’ve just got to give them their opportunity to work with these guys and continue to implement what they’re trying to get accomplished.” Injurie to quarterback Dak Prescott and others obviously haven’t helped matters in Dallas, but there aren’t too many signs that things are moving in the right direction even when that’s taken into account. Jones said he expects the team to “evolve” over time and Sunday night’s game against the Eagles will be the next chance for McCarthy and company to show some positive evolution. NBC
