Maybe the Rams are 'overrated'. NFL.com ran an article last week that they were the best in the NFC... over Seattle and the likes. They have 4 wins, all against the NFC East and they are 0-2 outside of that.

    More fact than opinion, but

    Bears beat Bucs
    Bucs beat Packers

    Ergo, logical deduction states

    Bears > Packers

After manhandling the Packers we’re going to hear a lot about Brady leading the Buccaneers to the SB. Doesn’t mean it will happen but definitely will create click bait

Anyone notice after the game how much time Brady had to chat with Rodgers and others and say good game etc. Yeah all the time in the world for that when you've won huh, but you get judged on sportsmanship when you lose and just 1 week prior Brady stormed out off the field like a little bitch when he lost heh.

He's always been a giant narcissistic child. I can't stand him. Would've taken a break from football if he signed with Chicago, as many fans asked for.

lol, thats serious stuff right there. I thought the same thing when Bret Favre came to Minnesota... I quickly got on the bandwagon, but I will say, Brady and Favre are two different animals.

I don't have to like who a player is off the field - there are too many of them for that to happen. But when a guy like Brady is a giant baby ON the field every single game, and people praise him for it... I don't want any part of that.

I didn't like Favre since he was a Packer, and man do I think he's awful off the field, but I don't remember him being a bad person on the field, independent of those two things. I totally understand your position, and that's tough. Not sure what I would've done if I were you.

You mean, it'll intensify....Pretty sure we've been hearing a lot about Brady leading the Bucs to the SB ever since Brady signed with the Bucs.

Yesterday's credit should go to the Tampa Defense more than anything. Stopping a "red hot" Packers offense like that was impressive.

You probably do, or at least have the right area code.

    @Lyman

I noticed your comments on Sendejo. I think my post that included Ronnie Harrison and Malcolm Smith as probably timed about as good as possible for what I as noticing with the Browns defense.

No doubt the Browns' defense this year emulates the Al Capp character Joe btfsplk in "Little Abner". We all knew after last season that the D was a little light at LB, CB and Safety. Berry and Stefanski attempted to mitigate that by adding, Greedy Williams, Grant Delpit, Ronnie Harrison and Malcolm Smith. Williams and Delfit are both on I/R and Harrison spent the last week in concussion protocol.

My hard truth, while in the same area code, deals with the other side of the ball.

{edit} Correction: Greedy was added by Dorsey.

    Mine does as well.

But on the defensive side, I see a lot of individual parts on that defense that can be either long term solutions or bridge items with a longer than normal shelf life.

    WTF?

I'm going to start off with kind of a general 'WTF', but how in the hell, in a league full of intelligent minds, can some of these coaches continue to get jobs and completely fuck up.

Looking around the league, guys like McCarthy and Gase come to mind easily, but if you look farther down the list at coordinators, assistants and position coaches, the amount of recycling that goes on with some piss poor coaching is astounding.

Every year I put together a list of coaches from both the current pool in the NFL and some names from the NCAA. I sometimes end up with names from the CFL as well, so how do so many GMs and owners pigeon hole themselves into the same fired names over and over again?

Some saying about the definition of insanity comes to mind...

    Hard Truths

If the Atlanta Falcons miss the playoffs by one game they have no one but ownership and management to blame. They waited to damn long to pull the plug on Quinn's mess and move on.

There is more than enough talent on that roster for them to be competitive every week. Hell, the offense alone should be good enough to keep them in more than half of the games they will play this season.

The worst part is, even if they get it right at head coach going into 2021, Matt Ryan will be 36 years old going into 2022 with a contract that makes him extremely expendable (2022 savings of roughly $16mil/2023 savings of roughly $29mil). That means the Falcons will be cornered into basing a decision on their current franchise quarterback while going through another coaching change.

They don't have a transition quarterback on the roster so the window to correct the coach, keep the quarterback and win a championship is going to slam shut so fast that I can't see a clear path for Atlanta to make the kind of transition that will lead them into a good spot going into 2024. It's a situation with storm clouds gathering that could make them lose ground in the South and put them into a long term rebuild.

Is there a 'good ol' boys' type thing going on? Seems like some coaches get recycled over and over again when they dont have a track-record or leg to stand on. Then there are GM's that the 'Higher ups' deem 'top-notch', like Rick Spielman in Minnesota, who seems to be untouchable when he's neck-deep in mediocrocy and cant put a SB team together after multiple chances.

    Hard Truths

Matt Patricia needs to be removed from the Detroit sidelines this off-season. Let him coach for the remainder of the year, but a new combination of GM and head coach needs to be installed for the Lions.

They haven't been as bad as some teams in getting better on the field talent, but some things are starting to unravel that lead towards a long term commitment in rebuilding from the ground up.

Matt Stafford looks like the oldest 32 year old quarterback that may have ever played the game. He only has 2 seasons in his career with over 30 TDs and he is on pace to come up just short of that mark again this season. To be fair, the offensive game planning has been shit and the holes on that offense really get magnified by the play calling, but Stafford is simply not the quarterback he was earlier in his career. Maybe he can get back to being that player but I believe it would come with a different jersey.

With a contract that could see him exiting in FA in 2023 (or a cap casualty as early as this off-season) there is no reason to tie a new coaching staff to the success or failure of rejuvenating Matt's career.

A new search for a new head coach and a new search for a new franchise quarterback may be the new new that the old Lions need to get back to competitive football in the NFC North.
