Can someone unpack the logic of the timeout or 10 second runoff rule being enforced against the Saints at the end of the 1st half last night? I thought that only applied to injuries and accepted penalties?

I mean, it didn’t hurt them obviously, but a rule that punishes a team for the officials getting a call wrong that was only changed because an automatic review seems like a pretty bad rule to me.

 

Because had the call been made correctly the clock would have run while the Saints got to the line of scrimmage to either run a play or call a timeout.

 

Jets reportedly trying to trade Le’Veon Bell



The partnership between running back Le'Veon Bell and the Jets has not gone as planned since Bell arrived as a free agent in 2019 and the Jets are reportedly trying to end it via a trade.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News had the first report Tuesday about the Jets working to trade Bell before the November 3 trade deadline. Others have reported hearing the same about the Jets’ push to find someone to take Bell off their hands with Albert Breer of SI.com reporting that it “sounds like they’re willing to settle for a late pick and/or back-end player in return.”

Bell has no guaranteed money left in the final two years of his contract, but has $6 million in salary left over the rest of the season and the Jets would be hard-pressed to find any team willing to make a deal for more than that kind of return as a result.

Bell returned from three games on injured reserve to run 13 times for 60 yards in Sunday’s loss to the Cardinals. He didn’t speak to reporters after the game, but appeared to vent frustration about only being targeted for one pass on social media. Head coach Adam Gase said on Monday that he gets why Bell would feel that way, but wishes players didn’t express themselves in that fashion.

Los Angeles, Dallas become potential NFL playoff bubble locations



The NFL and NFL Players Association would be wise to put all teams in a bubble now. For now, the league is discussing only the possibility of a postseason bubble.

According to TheAthletic.com, the league is considering the viability of a postseason bubble, along with the possibility of playing some postseason games at neutral sites.

Per the report, L.A. and Dallas “could be two potential options.” The bubble would be implemented after the wild-card round.

Before the postseason can begin, the regular season must end. As PFT reported on Sunday, the league is determined to play all 256 regular-season games in a 17-week window. An eighteenth weekend is a last resort. However, the first postponement of a game involving a team that already has had a bye week makes the last resort a reality.

Report: Dalvin Cook is expected to miss Sunday with adductor strain



Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said on Monday that Dalvin Cook‘s MRI went “pretty well.” Whatever that means.

Chad Graff of TheAthletic.com reports Cook has an adductor strain that likely will keep him out Sunday against the Falcons. The Vikings have their off week the following week, in Week Seven, so that would give Cook two weeks of rehab before a reevaluation.

Cook’s 489 rushing yards leads the league, and he has seven rushing touchdowns on his 92 carries.

Alexander Mattison replaced Cook and rushed for 112 yards on 20 carries, but he didn’t pick up the needed yard on fourth-and-inches with two minutes remaining.

Mattison has played 18 games in his two seasons, but he has never started a game.

Roger Goodell: Titans investigation focused on safety, not punishment

PFT reported Monday that ultimately the Titans could get a pass for the team’s outbreak of COVID-19.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell seemed to confirm that in a Tuesday conference call, saying the league is focused on safety measures and possible changes to protocols rather than handing down punishment.

“We have all been working — the Players Association, our medical experts, our outside experts, the Tennessee Titans, every other club involved — just to continue to put the protocols in place and ensure that modifying protocols if they need clarity, they need changes, and working to just keep our personnel safe,” Goodell said. “That includes personnel and players, coaches, our team operations personnel. That focus has really been working well. We are really working closely in identifying and speaking to clubs and players and open dialogue. This is not about discipline. This is about making sure we’re keeping our personnel safe. That’s been our entire focus to date.”

The Titans have had 13 players and 11 other personnel test positive since September 24 and most of those have come since they last played a game in Week Three. The Titans had their Week Four game against the Steelers postponed to later in the season, and they play the Bills tonight in a rescheduled game.

It originally was believed the league would hammer the Titans. It now appears that may not happen.

“I would say that we’ve learned a lot from each of these situations,” said NFL chief medical officer Allen Sills. “We’ve had great communication, certainly everyone on the end of the Titans has been very cooperative with us and has been very forthcoming in trying to help us understand that situation. But that’s a situation also that could happen to any of our clubs in that this virus is out there. It’s endemic and as we’ve said before if we’re not completely vigilant at all times, that’s the only opening that this virus needs.”

One thing I noticed this past week is that I don't recall seeing anybody on the sidelines getting a dose of oxygen. It was quite common in years past to see one or more of the "big fellas" getting oxygen through a mask while being rotated out for a breather.

Does anyone know if the NFL has banned the use of oxygen masks as part of the Covid-19 protocols?

 

I did some research and found nothing as in a ban. More stringent measures obviously are taken when considering the covid stuff, the 'sharing' of anything is a no no, but as a ban i didnt find anything. I personally havnt seen anyone take a blow in a long time.

 

With $19,000,000 in dead money, he must have been a major pain in the ass.

The one thing we all need to remember about Leveon Bell is that he's a selfless martyr who did what he did for the good of all NFL RBs.

I'd honestly be willing to bet money on that.

Honestly, if that is the case, I am 100% on Le'Veon's side.

Sam Darnold and a lot of other young talent may have had their careers irreparably harmed because of that asshole.
