If maintaining a liberal bent in her spot on the court mattered so much to RBG she should’ve resigned at the beginning of Obama’s second term.
I agree. But it does. No denying that. And each passing President tries to use it to their advantage.
And then the right would have been in an uproar....the same type of uproar Libs are gonna be accused of being in now.
And so what? Obama still would’ve gotten his appointee in and reset the clock on that seat from a then-80 year old with an already lengthy list of health issues. If the law tied to that seat was more important to her than the person (as her alleged statement via her granddaughter claims) then she should’ve done what was in the best interest of her politics and stepped down. Would’ve been a more fitting end to her legacy than clinging to power hoping she’d outlast the potential of a Republican replacing Obama.
I think your whole argument touches on the problems with the SCOTUS. Life terms and political influence. But it only upsets people when it’s the other side.

I was either a senior in high school or just out and started hearing about those guys. They'd play in these little hole in the wall clubs all over the San Gabriel Valley. If you didn't get there two hours early, you weren't getting in. Sometimes the clubs would leave to front doors open and you could stand outside and listen to them. And a lot of people did. They were that good.
Eddie was one of the greatest influences, not just in my life, but billions of other musicians. His sound and style will carry on for ever. My second concert ever was VH in Toledo around 1978... it was awesome. I blame Eddie along with 2 Jimmy's (Page & Hendrix) for my 'higher' education. The 2 Jimmy's got me into rock music, Eddie got me to drop out of school, trade my Camaro in for a guitar and amp and join a garage band. My first toy back then for the gear was a Bruno Echo-chamber... i wanted to sound just like Eddie... (i never really did tho, lol). RIP Eddie... truly amazing MF'er!
I remember the first time I heard eruption and you really got me. That was something awesome from the first time I heard it. That was the song that introduced the world to Van Halen.
