Skubal looked pretty good today. After seeing his 3rd inning struggles the first couple of starts, he showed up and powered through. The future is looking bright.
DETROIT -- Miguel Cabrera became the eighth player in Tigers history to record 2,000 hits with the club after reaching the mark with an RBI single on Sunday against the Twins. Cabrera, who is on a path toward his 3,000th Major League hit potentially next year, has been on a milestone tear lately. On Saturday, he surpassed Tigers Hall of Famer Charlie Gehringer for 50th on the all-time hit list with his 2,841st hit, a go-ahead two-run homer in a 4-2 win over the Twins to complete a doubleheader sweep. In the process, Cabrera became one of just 16 players ranked among the top 50 all time in hits, home runs and RBIs, joining Hank Aaron, Adrián Beltré, Barry Bonds, Willie Mays, Eddie Murray, Stan Musial, Mel Ott, Rafael Palmeiro, Albert Pujols, Cal Ripken Jr., Frank Robinson, Alex Rodriguez, Babe Ruth, Dave Winfield and Carl Yastrzemski. Cabrera, who recorded his first 842 hits with the Marlins, joins an illustrious list of Tigers with 2,000 hits for the club: Ty Cobb (3,900), Al Kaline (3,007), Gehringer (2,839), Harry Heilmann (2,499), Sam Crawford (2,466), Lou Whitaker (2,369) and Alan Trammell (2,365).
Will, the Tigers seem to be doing pretty well when I don’t post during games. I think I’ll see how long that lasts. Good to see the Tigers at 0.500 (16-16).
DETROIT -- Cameron Maybin’s third stint with the Tigers is over. Detroit traded him to the Cubs in what was otherwise a quiet Trade Deadline on Monday at Comerica Park, Chicago announced. TRADE DETAILS Tigers get: INF prospect Zack Short Cubs get: OF Cameron Maybin The Tigers received middle infield prospect Zack Short in return. Short was ranked 21st on the Cubs' Top 30 Prospects list, per MLB Pipeline. The 25-year-old batted .235 (50-for-213) with six home runs, 25 RBIs, a .363 on-base percentage and a .767 OPS across three levels last year, ending the season at Triple-A Iowa.
lol... whatever it takes. Seriously, its nice to see them compete. Last couple seasons, they seam to throw up the white flag when on a losing streak. Now they seem to have some competitive drive going on to right the ship and turn it around. The sweep against Minnesota did their confidence a world of good. They think they can 'hang' with anybody now and a good attitude is a big part of the game, in my opinion. Take care of the Brewers tonight... i'll be checking that out.
