I missed the news last night. Anything new about the protests? I did read about #teens4equality who are based in Nashville Tn. These 4 teenage girls got a lot of international attention because they raised a pretty substantial crowd of 10,000 protesters for a march going through Nashville to the Capitol. I'm impressed on so many levels by these girls.
One other thing I want to know is, why isn’t the virus getting more out of control with all of these people in large groups protesting? Gidi.........the numbers are already starting to spike (last weekend) in the State of Washington.......I hope Trudeau waits to Open the US/Canada Border.
but everyone who made the decision to got out and protest has now played a role in this, however individually small. Very well said Everton.........Kudos. It is two weeks today since George Floyd was murdered.......so this coming weekend we know how bad the Cases for Covid will be with all the protesting.
He was an appealing candidate because he was an outsider who ran a platform 4 years ago of just sticking a middle finger to the establishment politicians and corrupt media/using his symbol as a reality TV star "firing" people helped, which added to the mystique. I wont touch the "he's not in it for the money because he doesn't take a presidential salary" because that's horseshit and you're not going to fool anyone who operates under the basic premise of: fact = contention + evidence. He used his foundation to funnel/move money for multiple uses including to pay off his campaign and corporation uses before the foundation was shut down and had to pay millions in fines in restitution. Don't tell me he "isn't in it for the money." Money moves in more than one channel than the weekly/biweekly paycheck we have nots understand it to come though. That, and had Obama done the exact same thing when he got into office, would you seriously say that you'd have no problem with that? Somehow I don't think you (or your biggest fans who say 'best post ever') would say that...but I'd give you a chance to change my mind, you'll just have to do it without the spin, cute media buzzwords like 'duly elected president'/'unprecedented times,' or general whataboutisms of course. I called Trump a necessary evil/catalyst and stand by it. The establishment have played by their own rules for too long, leaving the 'have nots' out. They've fostered the environment (and love raising their own pay) and he still is pissing them off while pulling the veil back on this country's issues and just amplifying them to the point where CNN, MSNBC, Fox, CBS, ABC and every other "news" station can't sweep it under the rug for another bullshit story. As horrible as this is about to sound, 4 more years of Trump would be a good thing for the people, because the establishment who stretching back to Nixon to gain power slowly will have to relinquish a lot of it when we get more turned on our heads. These protests have shown people are snapping out of their comfort zones and fighting for things back and sometimes things need to get worse before they do better. The alternative is "the status quo" which a ton of people (those who want Joe Biden) want to go back to where the haves get theirs and the have nots continually get brushed aside like a mosquito in summer, and seeing the mobilization of the DNC, intel chiefs of past/present, and moderate republicans gravitating toward that desire means they're nervous and really not wanting what makes them and their friends comfortable to change. But one thing you hit the nail on the head on here is your last sentence. Everybody show me your tax returns (paraphrased). This is a concept that should piss any American off. Holding one "side" to a standard when not holding the other side to the same standard. Every politician needs the same strike zone. What baffles me further (as it should everyone here regardless of their stances) is that we all agree in term limits for these people, that being a "public servant" should not be a 'for life' job with endless benefits until you die, even if you're a 1 term shitbag. We all agree you shouldn't be able to use the elected position to become a multi millionaire on a 4/6 year term. And we agree that politicians who do are clearly compromised and do not have the best intentions for their constituents. But why the fuck aren't we acting on this? We talk and agree then we stop, taking no action. Why aren't we fighting for the 30+ year asshats like Pelosi, McConnell, Schumer, Feinstein, Durbin, Grassley, Chris Smith, Byrd, and countless others to step aside and GTFO? We keep voting them in (dont get me started on lifetime Supreme Court appointments). A simple google search for most-tenured congress/senate people goes back to the early fucking 70s for their first term for a lot of people still in office today. Its not unreasonable to demand fuckers I listed above to also show their tax returns if it is to be demanded of Trump. If 3 inches off the outside corner is a strike for one, it should be for all. Unless Joe West is calling the game... "The lesser of two evils"... is still fucking evil. I brought up 30+ year senators/congressmen/women just above, well Biden's been there for over 40 and all he has to show for it is an embarrassingly bad crime bill from the 90s causing a lot of disproportion you see in black folks in the US today. Oh, and he was Barack's VP too, which evidently counts for something. No thanks.
Great post Pat...........\+/.......(Beer) What baffles me further (as it should everyone here regardless of their stances) is that we all agree in term limits for these people, that being a "public servant" should not be a 'for life' job with endless benefits until you die, even if you're a 1 term shitbag. Working for the Government.......
No, it’s a journey to the center of the mind, the mind, the mind. It’s like a two minute vacation from reality
We are seeing more and more of people representing themselves as supporters of the opposite party to make them look bad. Lately it seems to just be a political tool and not even about anything anymore.
I want to keep the focus of this thread on the protests and riots which are taking place right now. I am NOT interested in hearing anything about Trump that is not related directly and specifically to the premise of this thread. Is that clear enough for you gidion?
This makes total sense to me. It has already been mentioned that Biden is not a perfect candidate to bring forward all of the changes that society wants to see but keeping Trump in office would be a 1000 times worse. I think that this is the only choice you have right now. And it is sad.
It’s clear. Just saying it’s hard to talk about political subjects, which the protests are and keep all other political thoughts out of it. By the way, the post Lyman made was the best one on this site since it’s beginning.
The only choice we have now is straight republicans ticket. Get the criminal Democratic Party out of Washington DC
The only choice we have now is straight republicans ticket. Get the criminal Democratic Party out of Washington DC I disagree with that comment Gidi......"The Only Choice".......that is Horse Manure. You could sit here ALL day and Bash the Democratic Party if you wanted........BUT Why would you......there are TWO sides to every coin. And on Nov 3rd/20 the People of the United States will decide which Party will Live in the White House...... It might be Trump.........It might be Biden.......but we have 5 months to go and calling a Party Criminals is not the way to go. Gidi..........your a Republican Supporter.......good for you.......but IMO the election day will be a Large voter turn out and possible in the the 70% numbers ???
I get that gidion. I just don't want to see a free-for-all erupt on this thread. I respect that everyone has and is entitled to their own opinions about the POTUS but I'm a lot more interested in opinions and observations about what kind of changes they want to see in terms of the way that the police conducts themselves (and this is happening in Canada between Indigenous and black people as well, just not to the same extent as in the U.S.) and what these protests might mean in terms of the election. I'm sure that Lyman is very flattered by your high praise of his post but I have to disagree. I have read Lyman for many years as well and I consider him quite brilliant. I know of many other posts of his that have really resonated in me more so than this most recent post That's just my opinion of course
Yeah, the second one you listed made me bust out laughing. Did he actually type that with a straight face? I'm all for locking up any criminals within the power structure all of them not just the ones in the opposing party.
I don’t look at the political threads because the subjects are too polarized. I want to be friends with everyone on this site Tim made not enemies.
