CLEVELAND BROWNS DRAFT THREAD

A megalomaniac general manager and under-qualified head coach did that without any help from the schedule, thank you. In fact, just talking about how the schedule eased up probably led to them thinking they could coast early on and make up ground with their cupcakes at the end. Once Freddie lost the team, even the creampuffs (Arizona, Cincinnati, demolished Pittsburgh) were able to beat them easily.

Something tells me Andrew Berry won't keep the best players INACTIVE on game day or that Kevin Stefanski will somehow think inside shovel passes to in-motion wide receivers are a recipe for success.
Any team that has the NFL's best running back (second, technically... sorry Lamar) shouldn't struggle. Doesn't take a whole lot of gameplan to run Chubb early and often.

    Chiefs, yes.

Remind me... how did Lamar Jackson fare against Tennessee in the post season when he was asked to actually throw the football? Give the entire NFL an offseason (plus) of film on him and how to stop him? The Ravens may finish third in the AFC North next season (behind Cleveland and Pittsburgh, respectively).

Don't forget my personal favorite call, when Freddie went with the ol "run up the middle", on 4th and 14!!??

(FTR - I'm certain that this was Steve's true reaction after that play...#Brownsfan)

I think it was Tony Grossi that asked Freddie in the post game presser if that was a mistake call, or what?? And Freddie said "No. It was my call. I thought we could catch em off guard"...

I'm mean, my god. I knew Freddie was in trouble after that....4th and 6, maybe you try that shit if you're feeling lucky. In our situation, had to be one of the worst calls I've ever seen.

Good for this kid, documenting the ridiculous injustice....It's truly unbelievable, but I wouldn't expect things to change. The Browns get screwed by the NFL 1000 times worse than any other franchise.

    (i still haven't gotten over examples #6 and #7 and #10...smh)

C'mon TD, they need no excuses. If the Browns could ever assemble a team that was able to play solid football at a competitive playoff-team level, this stuff wouldn't bite them in the ass most of the time. I still think the refs suck, however good teams overcome bad calls.....except for the playoff Saints and the no call on blatant pass interference.

I didn't create the video Doug. It is what it is.

I'm not oblivious. I realize we don't get any calls because we have been terrible. That said, it doesn't change what you see in that video though, does it? That crazy BS actually happened. Not excuses, just reality. It's pretty unreal, and I seriously doubt ANY other team can produce a video with even half as many mind numbingly bullshit calls over same time span.

EDIT: Plus, in all honesty, dude forgot the biggest one, IMO. lol! How about the quick whistle that sniped our 100 yard fumble return when Lamar Jackson got stripped on the goal line dive in the 2018 finale? Should have been among the greatest plays in the history of our franchise, not to mention the ideal revenge for the "kick 6" heartbreaker they pulled on us the year before. smh.... Instead, it was wiped away on the inexplicable quick whistle because there honestly isn't a ref in the league that can fathom something good happening for the Cleveland Browns...That's just the way it is. I was one of the 80,000 people at the Chargers game that saw Russell Okung's false start. The only guy in the stadium that didn't see it was the ref in charge of calling it. To the league's credit, in that particular case, the NFL did fire the ref a few days later. Damage was done, but at least they recognized it.

Two primetime games on tap and we get to host both..... Thursday night vs. Bengals (wk 2) and we MNF vs. Ravens (wk 14).

Open at Baltimore....Finish at home vs Steelers for the 9th time in last 13 years.

Back to back December games in New York as we wind out the season...That could be fun.

The schedule sets up fairly well. No west coast trips. The perfect bye week (9)...

    Just to recap...

    Browns: a steaming dumpster fire from 1999 - 2018
Browns: a glimmer of hope in 2018
Browns: Freddie Kitchens and full-Dorse in 2019

It's not wonder we don't all have liver failure.

A tradition like no other. Although I used to hold the last statement too until the last two seasons with the Saints. I mean, the Browns get screwed more *often* than any other team (and it's not close), but that's in the middle of 4-12 or 6-10 seasons.

The Saints got it twice keeping them out of a Super Bowl.

If getting systematically screwed for the past 20 seasons means when we finally get into the post-season the flags stop, it will have been worth it.

TBH... we could do a Top 50 every season with how many we get. You could throw roughly 30 clips per game of Garrett getting held.

The Chargers one was astounding and, to my knowledge, the only real-time firing of a ref for obvious dereliction of duty. Add it to the list of things we can claim - screwed so badly by a ref they had no choice but to fire him. Not even the guys who jobbed the Saints hold that distinction.

Every team in the NFL could put together a video like that.

    Every. Team.

Every team could... but only about 3-4 would have legitimate complaints.

Saints have a legit gripe, but I'd still say that the "worst call" was against the Raiders. The "tuck rule"....Nobody had ever heard of that rule before that call, and no ref has called it since.

Just more shade on the Pats dynasty, along with all the cheating.

I disagree with that. Not like those calls...

Now if you are talking about sifting through film to find holding calls and P.I. calls, of course every team could come up with a reel. You could call holding on every single play...That's not the same as what's on that video.

As I'm sure we all do, I watch lots of NFL games, not just Browns games. I've never seen a player fumble the ball, and then immediately recover the ball, hold it up in the refs face, only to be denied by the ref in inexplicable fashion, as she points in the other team's direction, obviously without ever seeing the ball in their possession (because it never was). She just took the game from the Browns and handed it to the Redskins. No explanation given. Presumably because it was impossible for her to explain how she figured it to be Redskins ball, I can only assume.

It was no biggie to the NFL. Browns were so bad that nobody cares...

I understand why it goes this way for downtrodden teams, but there is no way that you can tell me that traditional NFL "darling" teams like Dallas, New England, Pittsburgh or Green Bay could produce a video like the "Browns vs. Refs" one...That's not happening, because it's just not there.

Freddie gets mentioned and I can't help but feel good about our team not heading into a compressed camp, with him in charge. I'll take my chances with Steph. Thanks very much!
