That's okay. Turnabout is fair play. ;)

2021 AFC North Mock Draft 1.0 | Sorta Too Early

1.1 Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence, QB Clemson. This team *for real* might not win a game next year.
1.2 Cincinnati Bengals: Penei Sewell, OT Oregon. Who are these guys and when did they start drafting well? A bad team in a tough division (two of Pittsburgh's wins will come against the Bengals) means a bottom finish again, but a franchise QB in the wings needs his blindside protector.
1.3 Pittsburgh Steelers: Justin Fields, QB Ohio State. Things go from bad to worse as Ben Roethsliberger, in an effort to slim down from his current 475 pound weight, tears both ACL's, forcing Mason "Dixon Line" Rudolph into the starting lineup. His season also ends abruptly after *again* using the N-word on another team's defensive end. They'll go on to post a 4-12 record.

    ...

1.20 Baltimore Ravens: DeVonta Smith, WR Alabama. At some point, they'll have to stop addressing the running back position so heavily. With the addition of J.K. Dobbins, it's interesting to see if Lamar Jackson is on the hot seat. Smith gives them a weapon to deploy for when the Wildcat offense inevitably sputters.

    ...

1.32 Cleveland Browns: Jaylen Twyman, IDL Pittsburgh. Larry Ogunjobi will be a free agent and Sheldon Richardson is costly. The team will look to get younger and more talented in the middle and Twyman is a stud who can stop the run but is a force against the pass.

    Gid,

I don't have a problem with Kevin Dotson, the player. I don't really know that much about him. He generated a -179 score because the average O/A ranking for him was 314 (UDFA) and he was drafted at pick 135 (4th round). That's a value grade of D.

What's up, Lyman. Question about this value portion of your chart. Only looking at the 3rd round, the Browns get Phillips 1 pick after his average spot, it's an A. The Steelers get Highsmith 25 spots before his average, it's a B. Ravens get Harrison 38 spots after his average, best value of the 3, yet it's also a B.

I'm just wondering if that's an oversight or if I'm overlooking another factor.

Side note, didn't notice until now that every team in the division drafted a LB in the 3rd

In the 3rd round, if a player is picked within +/- 20 spots he scored an A. Highsmith was 25 (B) and Harrison was 38 (B).

But . . . I see your point. Let me think on it for a while.

    @ravens_R_#1 ,

Just for shits and giggles, I temporarily changed Harrison's grade to an A and it didn't change your overall grade one iota.

Oh that's fine. I was just curious as to why the best value wouldn't get the best grade

Just needed to keep it simple, cuz I'm not too bright.

    Question for you . . .

Why didn't you ask about Tyre Phillip's grade? ;)

I reworked the "Value Scoring" based on @ravens_R_#1 comment. He had a valid point

Lol don't get me wrong, I'm not making a point to agree or disagree with any of it. Just trying to understand the system in play.

That said, according to the chart it was horrible value and the grade made sense

The best thing about this off-season just might be the fact that the overwhelming "expectations" won't exist this year. I truly believe that will help the Browns immensely ...Last year was just too much hype for a team with massive O-line issues, and a head coach that was in way TF over his head.

Looking at our off-season improvements, particularly coaching staff and OT additions, I really love the cohesive plan with which this group has gone about their business. I'm kind of blown away by how well Andrew Berry has handled this off-season, especially considering that we currently have more cap space than any team in the league. It really feels like this entire Cleveland Browns operation is on the same page. The draft was sensational by all accounts, and we are loaded up with extra picks for the 2021 draft, which Cleveland will be hosting...

We ALL marked OT and Safety as positions we expected the Browns to address early, and that's exactly what they did, all while managing to add a 5th rounder. It obviously remains to be seen, but I really thought Berry's first draft was brilliant.

With these skill position players; Beckham, Laundry, Chubb, Hunt, Njoku, Hooper, one could make the arguement that Baker Mayfield has more talent in the huddle than any QB in the NFL....

It's exciting to imagine how good this offense will be, and I love that the "expectations" won't be smothering this franchise like it did in 2019....

Schedule comes out Thursday night! I'm excited to see what we get.....:point:

color me "cautiously optimistic" Dawg. I agree with a lot of what you said there, but this COVID thing is going to create a real impediment to games in general.

We've more or less survived the initial onslaught, but we still have no treatments, or vaccine, let alone a cure, and our survival through April is largely due to the restrictions we executed. A stadium full of people just seems like tempting fate, but without it, what does an NFL game look like?

It's bound to end up an odd season, and I'm not sure that's a bad thing or a good thing in terms of how it helps or hurts the Browns.

I kinda feel like Stephanski & Co will get a pass, one way or the other. I am excited about how things are shaping up personnel wise, and the general collective mindset it appears mgt has at long last achieved. Just not sure how they and the team does in this weird environment.

Here's hoping we find ways to minimize the virus, and we can safely attend and cheer for our team this year.

I don't think I can do that k-bals....All evidence to the contrary at this point. I was really just trying to talk a little football and get excited about the Browns....Wasn't really looking for the complete downer update of the world we all live in. Clearly you are correct on everything you said..

Rather than get pumped about the possibility of Cleveland Browns football, are we supposed to keep every thread about Corona?

Do you think the Browns need to win this season for Myles to negotiate a long term deal prior to making a decision to either force a franchise tag or hit free agency?

Not really. The Browns need to win for so many reasons it's impossible to count them all....

I believe it's similar to the Christian McCaffrey situation. We've got one of the best in the business at his position. Berry is simply trying to get it done right now because they truly have an elite pass rushing defensive end, and you might as well lock him up if you can. By all accounts, Myles loves Cleveland and the feeling is mutual. I don't think the debacle that got him suspended is even a factor, because it was so out of character.

AB is probably just trying to get out ahead of it with Garrett, because looking at the roster, we are going to have a bunch of highly drafted players with major contracts coming due....
