I agree with almost everything you said about Simmons. But he still can't play LT. After that, we can agree to disagree. Okay?
I could live with Trent Williams as our LT for a couple years. Matt Miller (a scout I respect) was talking about Trent last night on the radio, and he said none of the OT's in this class are as good as Trent Williams. Also heard Casserly mention the same thing on NFL network last week... I seriously doubt Simmons gets to #10 anyway, but if he did... Oh boy it's gonna be exciting. #fired up.
Do you really think a half dozen teams would be inquiring about his availability if was washed up? I gotta believe that's not the case. Why would Redskins be so stubborn about trading him if they thought that? They have been adamant from the get that they are not giving away their prized LT.
At some point, the Browns' board isn't going to even see posts from anyone other than their small circle. Not sure that insular thinking is gonna do anyone any good... If the Browns can get Trent Williams for less than a first rounder, I don't know how you pass that up. The only downside to it that I see is he's on the last year of his deal - but if he's shown anything, it's that he wants to play for the organization that treats him right, not necessarily the one who pays him the most, so he might be less likely to cut and run for FA next year. $12 mil cap hit for a starting LT that has proven he can do it at an elite level in this league. The Browns are desperately in need of talent on OL - especially if the excuse for Baker's poor performance was that he didn't have a line in front of him (and he definitely didn't). If he's no good, you let him walk at season's end. If he is good, you've solved your LT spot for at least this season, and can use those top picks on either other positions, or a LT of the future without needing to throw said pick into the fire right away. If the Skins will take some combination of middle round picks in exchange for Williams, you've gotta run with it, and never look back.
The dream draft 1.2 Chase Young, EDGE, Ohio State (Browns deal 1.10, 3.33, 2021 1st and 3rd) 2.9 Mecki Becton, OT, Ville (Combine sample causes inexplicable slide. I did say dream draft ) 3.10 Malik Harrison, LB - Ohio State 4.9 Amik Robertson, CB - Louisianna Tech 6.8 Kenny Robinson Jr., FS - WVU/XFL 7.30 Netane Muti, G - Fresno State (injury concerns cause slide that lets Browns land late gem)
Listen, man - you troll here a lot. A lot. Very rarely is what you have to say on this board anything other than antagonistic crap that, frankly, I wouldn't want to hear either. You make it harder for anyone else that wants to have a discussion. If you're getting blocked, it's not because you tried to have a conversation in good faith. Let's be real.
I've pretty well resigned myself that my guy won't be there at #10 nor will the Browns trade up to get him.
I've read too much today Lym, which guy is your guy? I'm in the Thomas camp. I hope he is sitting there at 10, but I don't thing he will be.
