I brought the one we have in the basement (for the Grandkids' movies) upstairs. Saved me a mad dash to Best Buy. I'm good to go.

    Whatever it takes !!!

My Browns Mock Draft 1.2 | First Round **FINAL**

Decided to have some fun with it. As we get closer and closer, it's hard to tune out all the noise. I want to use some of that (the run on tackles, for example) as the motivation and projecting trades is always fun. Here's a best guess at how it could shake out later tonight...

1.1 Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow, QB Louisiana State. It sounds like Miami offered the moon and Cincinnati passed. They'll be making Burrow the first overall pick in 2020.
1.2 Washington Redskins: Chase Young, EDGE Ohio State. I believe they really did listen to offers but needed a Ricky Williams-esque haul and weren't getting it.
1.3 Miami Dolphins (f/Detroit Lions): Justin Herbert, QB Oregon. Tua's injury concern and Miami's rumored move up I buy. That they're moving up for a tackle? I don't.
1.4 New York Giants: Tristian Wirfs, OT Iowa. I feel this comes down to Wirfs/Wills for New York.
1.5 Detroit (f/Miami): Jeff Okudah, CB Ohio State. The only lock I'm comfortable with is Detroit taking Okudah in the Top 6.
1.6 Los Angeles Chargers: Andrew Thomas. I'm buying that both LAC and MIA want to move up for a QB and that QB is Herbert. The loser takes Thomas at #5 or #6 and ruins our night.
1.7 Carolina Panthers: CeeDee Lamb, WR Oklahoma. So for the first time, I am taking Derrick Brown off here. I keep forgetting Carolina is erratic, needs weapons for Bridgewater, and is led by ex-Baylor Rhule.
1.8 Arizona Cardinals: Jedrick Wills, OT Alabama. I think Arizona wants to address OT spot - just depends on how the picks ahead of them shake out. If they don't like the guys, I think they trade out.
1.9 Atlanta Falcons (f/Jacksonville): Isaiah Simmons, S/LB. Ruins my night but make sense - gotta defend Brees and Brady somehow.
1.10 Denver Broncos (f/Cleveland): Jerry Jeudy, WR Alabama. Need to get ahead of Oakland and Cleveland has lost out on OTs and Simmons. Cleveland picks up #77 and #83 because bleep Elway.
1.11 San Francisco (f/New York): Henry Ruggs III, WR Alabama. 49ers can jump Las Vegas to get the last of the Big 3 at receiver.
1.12 Las Vegas Raiders: C.J. Henderson, CB Florida. Would like a WR, but we don't have one here to give them. Pass defense was bad and they play Mahomes twice a year.
1.13 New York Jets (f/San Francisco): Mekhi Becton, OT Louisville. Slides a bit but seems like a New York kind of pick.
1.14 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: A.J. Terrell, CB Clemson. I think they'd like to fix the line first but pass defense was bad and offense has been "fixed" with Brady and Gronkowski.
1.15 Dallas (f/Cleveland via Denver): K'Lavon Chaisson, EDGE Louisiana State. Dallas adds their desired pass rusher, Browns add # 123 and Dallas' 2021 third rounder.
1.16 Jacksonville (f/Atlanta): Derrick Brown, IDL Auburn. He likely goes higher but didn't have a fit for him. Chalk this slide up to his abysmal Combine, I guess...
1.17 New England Patriots (f/Cleveland via Dallas): Tua Tagovailoa, QB Alabama. The slide stops here. Patriots jump Vegas and Jacksonville to take Tua. Browns add #87 and #139.
1.18 Miami (f/Pittsburgh): Josh Jones, OT Houston. They need to add a blindside protector for Herbert and are in a good position to do so here.
1.19 Las Vegas Raiders (f/Chicago): Justin Jefferson, WR Louisiana State. Las Vegas quietly having a very good draft letting the board come to them.
1.20 Jacksonville Jaguars (f/Los Angeles): Jordan Love, QB Utah State. I wanted to give them the trinity of QB's who look like Tarzan and play like Jane (Gabbert, Bortles, Herbert) - but here's a good pick.
1.21 Philadelphia Eagles: Ezra Cleveland, OT Boise State. Need a guy to replace Jason Peters, who could still re-sign a 1-year deal to bridge Cleveland into a starting role.
1.22 Minnesota Vikings (f/Buffalo): Xavier McKinney, SS Alabama. There's been rumors of moving on from their current starters, so McKinney seems like a good eventual replacement.

1.23 Cleveland (f/New England): Grant Delpit, FS Louisiana State.

For starters, we add three thirds (one in 2021) and a fourth in the move down twice. Those are more than enough to bundle together and give to Washington in return for Trent Williams. For me, if we don't get Thomas (Georgia), I'm out on a rookie left tackle. Linebacker and safety are easily the most glaring needs on this team and I don't think they'd take Patrick Queen here. Delpit, on the other hand, is a fit both on film and analytically. I've discussed a bit, but I'll chalk a disappointing 2019 up to injury and build the grade off his 2018 season where he was *elite*. Fills the biggest issue in the secondary and is a plug-and-play Day 1 starter.

Keep in mind, they also picked up a slew of mid-round choices and Trent Williams through this deal and can sign Jadeveon Clowney in free agency. Trade #74 and our 2021 third rounder for Williams.

1.24 New Orleans Saints: Brandon Aiyuk, WR Arizona State. Saints need to add firepower to keep up.
1.25 Minnesota Vikings: A.J. Epenesa, EDGE Iowa. The Vikings are thin on the edge and while they need a wide receiver, too, it's a deeper class at that position.
1.26 Jacksonville Jaguars (f/Miami via Houston): Javon Kinlaw, IDL South Carolina. Miami can be a landing spot for Fournette and Jacksonville can swoop in ahead of Seattle to get Kinlaw.
1.27 Seattle Seahawks: Darrell Taylor, EDGE Tennessee. Seattle needs to address pass rush.
1.28 Baltimore Ravens: Patrick Queen, LB Louisiana State. I hate doing this because I like Queen so much. Seems like the rich get richer.
1.29 Tennessee Titans: Isaiah Wilson, OT Georgia. Need to replace Conklin (thanks, Tennessee!).
1.30 Green Bay Packers: Kenneth Murray, LB Oklahoma. Well, there's another one peeing in our Cheerios.

1.31 Cleveland Browns (f/San Francisco): Jeff Gladney, CB Texas Christian.

With San Francisco void of picks in the second and third rounds, a move back to #41 with Cleveland makes sense. Browns need to leapfrog Kansas City to get the top corner available. I view this is a position of need for the team, so a move up is prudent. Gladney can play inside/outside, so he's a good foil to Ward. He's got great athleticism for the position. Greedy Williams ran hot/cold in 2019 and reinforcing the back-end of the defense makes sense. Browns give up #41 and #97.

1.32 Kansas City Chiefs: Jaylon Johnson, CB Utah. Corner remains the biggest need for the Chiefs, so they can reach here or trade out.

We'll go ahead and pause there... see how the night shakes out.

    Browns can leave tonight with:
    • Grant Delpit, FS
    • Jeff Gladney, CB
    • Trent Williams, LT
    • Picks: 77*, 83*, 87*, 115, 139*, 187, and 244 (* denotes added picks via trades)
Without a pick until Round 3 now, it's very possible they'd bundle two of those threes to get back into R2 for a guy they're targeting. I feel good with four picks in the Top 10 and addressing our biggest needs.

I'm glad you guys are there for the draft. I'm not very engaged, because I'm of a mind that our biggest question marks are coaching ones. I think the season will hinge on that element more than any one player.

That said, if I had a personnel concern it is, of course Left Tackle. I'm just not enough of a draftnik to express any opinion with conviction. That's why I follow these boards, cause you guys allow me to feel like I have a clue, by following your arguments.

    Many thanks, and stay safe.

My prediction is pain. I pity the fool that thinks that the Browns will be good this season.

To be honest, I *yearn* for the day when I'm not cranking out mock drafts and playing around with scouting reports and simulators. I would love to be in the position of a team like the Chiefs who just sit at #32 and take whatever.

And sure, it's easy to be cynical and think they can (or will) screw this up. But I choose not to. I will root for Isaiah Simmons when he's playing for Atlanta, Arizona, or Carolina. It won't break my heart when we don't get him. Honestly... just want to do what's best to complete this roster and get back to competing for the AFC North title. We're not that many pieces away - regardless of what you may say, Gid. A left tackle, a safety, one or two linebackers and then depth at receiver and pass rusher. Call it a draft.

I love that you're still sleeping on Baker. Should make for a fantastic 2020.

To be honest . . . I haven't gone all in on Baker yet.

I was close during his rookie year but, in his 2nd year (the year that most young QB's progress) he clearly digressed even with the weapons that were added -and- a BFF named as Head Coach. Now, in all fairness, I firmly believe (or hope) that his issues were mainly due to the O-line he had (or didn't have) in front of him. And that's precisely why I'll go full on 100% ape shit ballistic if they don't draft a legitimate LT at pick 10 (or higher).

Baker could win league MVP and it's not stopping Gid from ripping on the Browns player.

Baker has much to prove, but I am still a full believer. Put me in the camp that says last year was more on Freddie and that shit O-line.

I'm not sure what to expect from Andrew Berry tonight. I'm hoping we stay put and get the LT to protect Mayfield. We might differ on the order of OT prospects, but I think most Browns fans will be happy as long as we do get one of the top 3 or 4 names. The Ezra Cleveland rumors have me thinking there really is some truth to Browns are wanting to trade down. His name just keeps getting tagged to us. I know that's kind of a pun, but you know what I mean. lol! I'm hoping that it is click bait, or that if he's in our plans it's with our 2nd pick because we got Simmons at #10...

So we get Isaiah Simmons at #10 and Ezra Cleveland at #41. Then we trade 2021 2nd rounder for Trent Williams.

I could be real happy with that.

First he has to get better than Rudolph. Rudolph QB rating 82%
    Mayfield 78%

    1. Isaiah Simmons can't play LT.
    2. Trent Wiiliams is an over the hill malcontent.
    3. Ezra Cleveland is a developmental backup.

  19. TopDawg Legend

Simmons could be the best OLB to come into the NFL in years. Or ILB. Or Safety. Or slot CB.....He played over 100 snaps at each position last year and dominated everywhere they put him. Plus, I've seen many raving reviews on Ezra Cleveland, and Trent Williams is only a malcontent with the Redskins because they did almost kill him. Browns, Eagles, Jets and Vikings wouldn't be interested in acquiring Williams if he was thought of that way...
